Chapter 2
"Hey Rob, are you okay? You seem a little off," Cyborg said.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," Robin said. Cyborg and Starfire exchanged a look.
"You are not the fine," Starfire said. "There is something bothering you. Perhaps if you told us about it, it would make you less of the stressed."
"I don't need to talk about my feelings," Robin snapped. "I'm perfectly fine. I just...." He sighed, and seemed to deflate slightly. "I just need to be alone right now." The other Titans glanced at each other, worried.
"Alright, Robin. What should we do for training," Raven asked.
"Nothing. Just take the afternoon off." Now the Titans were really worried. Robin had never instructed them to take an afternoon off. Never.
"Okay, Dude. Just tell us if you need anything, okay?" Robin nodded.
"Thanks, Beast Boy," he said. Then he disappeared to his bedroom. He didn't come out for hours. The other Titans went about their day as normal, but they didn't have as much fun as usual. Eventually, they agreed that someone needed to talk to him. Starfire volunteered. She walked down the hall to Robin's room and knocked on the door. There was no answer. "Robin," Starfire called cautiously. "It is Starfire. I have come to speak with you about your current behavior." There was still no answer. Starfire opened the door and walked in. Robin was sitting on his bed with his back to the door. He was staring at something. He glanced up at Starfire. "Hey Star," Robin said softly. He quickly wiped away the tears that were on his face.
"Robin, our friends and I are very concerned about you."
"I know. I'm fine, I promise."
"Would you perhaps like to talk about whatever is bothering you?" Robin thought about it for a moment.
"Sure," he said finally, and scooted over, patting the space beside him. "Sit here." Starfire obliged, taking a seat beside Robin. He was holding something in his hand. He quickly tucked it away in a pocket.
"What was that," Starfire asked. Robin blushed.
"It's a photograph," he said. "It's kind of personal. I can't show it to you." Starfire nodded.
"I understand," she said. "What is on your mind, friend Robin?"
"I was just thinking about my family."
"I thought Batman was the family."
"He is, he's just...." Robin laughed and shook his head. "I'd better start at the beginning. When I was little, my parents owned a circus. They did a lot of acrobatic stuff together. When I was five, they started teaching me some stuff. My little sister was born two years after I was. My parents were murdered when she was five and I was seven. My sister got a good look at the guy before he escaped. She identified him in court. Anyway, we spent a day with Aunt Cecilia, but then we were taken to an orphanage because our parents didn't want us to live with her, and she was the only one who was willing to take us. Two months later, I was adopted by Batman. He didn't take my sister though." Robin was quiet. Starfire placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Do not worry, Robin. I am the here for you. If you need anything, you can tell me." Robin smiled at her.
"Thanks Star," he said. "I really appreciate it." Starfire smiled back at him.
"I am the happy to help." Robin and Starfire hugged each other, then Starfire left. When she was gone, Robin slid the picture out of his pocket. He sighed and stared at it. In the photo, he was standing, holding three year old Lillian. Robin's mother had her hand around his shoulder. Robin's father had his arm around her. They were all smiling. He smiled sadly, a tear sliding down his cheek. He wondered how Lillian was doing....

The girl walked down the street. Her black curls were up in a ponytail. She had changed into a black t shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers. She was wearing her leather jacket unzipped, and black sunglasses that hid her eyes. She was wearing a pendant with a crescent moon cradling a swirling blue and green orb. People stared at her and whispered. When she glanced in their direction, they averted their eyes, and stopped talking. She didn't mind. They weren't in her way. She wandered her way through the streets, looking for the right bridge. Finally, she found it. Underneath was a girl with an eyepatch and white hair. The girl stood in front of her and smiled. "Rose Wilson," she cooed. "It's nice to finally meet you."
