Chapter 1

"Ninety-nine, one hundred!" Robin stood up and took a deep breath. He was half way through his afternoon exercises. He had just finished doing crunches. Now it was time for push ups. He got into position. Bee do, bee do! Bee do, bee do! Robin jumped to his feet. That was the crime alert. He hurried to the living room. The other Titans were already there. Robin pulled up the computer and checked the screen, talking while he did it. "Titans--" He stared at the screen. Raven scowled at him.

"What is it," she asked.

"Yeah, Bro, who are we fighting," Cyborg asked. Robin stared at the screen.

"It's...someone new. Someone we've never fought before." Robin stared at the image on the screen. It was a girl wearing a black helmet that obscured her face, a black leather jacket, black jeans, and knee high black boots. There was a staff on her back.

"What are we waiting for," Raven asked. Robin shook his head.

"Nothing," he answered. "Titans, go!"

Minutes later, they were in Jump City. The girl was standing in the middle of the street, staff out. People were terrified. Her back was toward the Titans. "Unknown villain," Robin said coldly. The girl stiffened, then turned around.

"The Teen Titans," she said.

"That's right. It's us," Robin said. The girl seemed to be staring at him.

"Why are you here," she asked.

"We're here to take you down."

"No. Why are you here?" Robin blinked in confusion.

"I'm the leader of the Titans. It's my job to be here." The girl chuckled and shook her head. Robin knew she was smiling bitterly. He wasn't sure how.

"You don't get it, do you?"

"What do you mean," Robin asked. The girl twirled her staff in her hand.

"I mean exactly what I said," she answered. "You don't get it." Then she charged Robin. He brought up his staff to meet hers. Raven opened a portal at the girl's feet, but she jumped up and hovered in the air. Starfire began to shoot energy blasts at the girl, which she artfully dodged. The girl managed to avoid the attacks of the Titans with powers, but still concentrate on fighting Robin. Eventually though, she began to grow tired. She took a step back and stared at Robin. "Bye," she said. "See you soon!" With that, the girl jumped up higher and vanished into thin air. Robin stared at the sky where the girl used to be. "Man, that was the toughest girl we've ever fought," Cyborg said, incredulous.

"Yeah, did you see her? She just vanished into thin air!" Beast Boy exclaimed.

"Guys, you're missing the point," Raven said. "She got away."

"Raven is correct. This villain will return. We must be ready to defeat her next time."

"Guys, do any of you feel like you've...seen her before?" The other Titans turned and looked at Robin.

"You feel as though you know this girl?" Starfire asked.

"Yeah. I can't explain it, but we're...connected somehow. Like...." Robin sighed and shook his head. "Never mind," he said. "It's probably nothing. Let's go home." Beast Boy, Cyborg, Starfire, and Raven stared at Robin. This was strange. Robin always had an explanation for everything, no matter how ridiculous, and sometimes true, that explanation was. Now that he couldn't explain something, they felt afraid. Very, very afraid.

The girl materialized in the middle of the attic she lived in. She removed her helmet, and took a deep breath. She unzipped her jacket and shrugged it off. She hung the jacket up on the coat hook, then placed her helmet on the seat beside it. She then took off her boots, and set them beside her helmet. The girl removed the band holding her hair in a messy bun. She shook her head, enjoying the feeling of her hair brushing her shoulders. She was wearing black jeans and a black cotton camisole. Her hair was long, curly, and black. Her dark eyes took in her home. Soon, she would find Robin and make him pay for everything he did to her. It was only a matter of time.
