Nathan's POV

It's not long after Leo's feeding and has gone to sleep in her arms when the doctor walks in.

"Well, Nathan, I have your walking papers and you are able to get out of here. I want you to take it easy for a while. Those bandages need to be changed every day. If you experience any pain, swelling or anything out of the ordinary, I want to see you again. Lily, the same goes for you. We will see you in about two weeks to take out those sutures."

"Thanks, doc."
"Yes, thank you. I will make sure he takes it easy." Lily adds.

"We will, too. He deserves some time off." Eric says as he gives me a look of, you will rest or else.

"I hope we don't see each other for a long time. You lot take care and stay out of trouble." Doctor Johnson returns.

He laughs as he hands me my go home instructions before he heads out, and the nurse comes in with the wheelchair for me to go home in. The guys help me up and into the bathroom so I can shower and change into some comfy clothes before we head out. Lily also changes after I am done, and we are soon outside. Connor brings Lily's car around, and we climb in. Mom heads to her car, and Eric goes to his. Connor drives us home, and everyone follows behind. As we pull up to the house, I see that the porch is decorated and a huge sign that says welcome home.

"Did you have anything to do with this, mom?"

"Not at all. Everyone that would have helped was at the hospital with us."
We all get out and cautiously go inside. Nothing is out of place, and there is no one inside. Rufus comes bounding from the other room and stops when he gets to Lily. I have been replaced as he seeks attention from Lily.

"How's my furry man?" She coos as he comes over and she kneels down with Leo in her arms to scratch his chin. He happily sits at her feet as he tries to sniff his little brother. I walk into the kitchen and see a huge flower arrangement on the counter and walk over, picking up the card inside. What's written inside amazes me.

" We are so glad that you all are okay. You will never have to worry about anyone coming for you. We will always be watching over you and our grandson. We are so glad that you found each other. Take care of our daughter and grandson. You are such an amazing man and we are so sorry for the trauma that we caused."

"Who are they from?" Lily asks as she walks up behind me. I didn't hear her come in, and I turned around and saw that beautiful smile.

"It is from your in-laws."

I hand her the note to read as she hands me our boy. She reads it and a smile creeps across her face again.

"I told you they were good people."
"I still have my reservations but at least there is a small apology."

"I'm gonna go lay Leo down for a bit."
"Alright, sweetheart. He's had a long couple of days. I'll get lunch started."
"You will do no such thing, young man. You need to rest. Mom will do it." She says sternly as she shoos me out of the kitchen.

"I can do it, mom/ It's not that hard."
"Quit being stubborn, and listen to your mom."
"Yeah, what she said." Connor says as he and Eric walk through the front door.

"Come on, brother, let's go sit down. You won't win this one." Eric adds as he throws an arm around my shoulder and leads me into the living room.

"I'm not an invalid."

"You never listened."
"Fine, I give up."

We both sit down in the living room, and soon Lily is walking in and sits down beside me. She cuddles into my good side, and I wrap my arm around her, kissing the top of her head.

"Did he go to sleep easy?" I ask.

"He was asleep before I put him down in the crib. The front porch wasn't the only thing that was decorated. They also loaded him up with diapers and other things. We won't have to buy any of that for a while."
"That was nice of them. They didn't have to do that."
"I think it is their way of saying sorry. I know it's not the best but at least they are trying."
"I guess so."
It wasn't long before mom was calling us in for lunch, and we all sat down together. Conversation is light as we eat. I can't believe how wild it has been from Lily being taken to her being brought back and emergency surgery. I still can't believe Jennifer was part of it. I knew she was crazy as she was. It was mind blowing. I am glad that she is gone and we don't ever have to worry about her again.

"Hey baby, where did you go?" Lily asks.

"Just thinking about everything that has happened and the bright future ahead of us."
I turn to kiss her lips, and she returns it, pressing hers against mine. I can't help but deepen it and long to have more. We hear a cough across the table from us and pull back. Her cheeks redden in response.

"Get a room guys." Connor says with a smirk.

"We have one." I bite back.

"Too bad for you, you have to wait six weeks. That's going to be tough." Eric adds laughing.

"Don't remind me."
"Nate!" Lily cries as she slaps my chest playfully. I chuckle as I pull her in and kiss her temple. It will be a long six weeks but it will be worth it. She is my end game, and soon, I hope she will agree to be mine forever. After lunch, the guys cleaned up for us, and we all sat in the living room and visited for a bit before they went home. It's been a long day and we hear Leo whimpering in his room. Lily goes to pick him up and bring him back into the living room for a feed. I will never grow tired of this. It's just amazing to watch the bonding between them.

"How about we order food and watch a movie? I'm sure you are tired and I know I am."
"That is a wonderful idea."
"Great, I'll go call it in."
I go and order the food and it arrives about an hour later. I bring it in and she picks a comedy. She said we've had so much drama lately that she wanted a light movie. It is so nice to be able to finally be chill with my girl and our boy. If this is how our life finally plays out, that is alright with me. The movie is almost over, and I can hear soft snores next to me. They have both fallen asleep. I quietly get up and pick up Mariano and lay him down in his crib before I go back to get Lily. I pick up the leftovers and clean up the trash before I turn off the tv and pick her up. She had changed into her pajamas earlier, so I lay her softly in our bed before stepping down and climbing in behind her. I pull her back against my chest and wrap my arms around her, kissing the back of her head before quickly falling asleep.

Lily's POV

My eyes flutter open as the morning sun peeks through the blinds. Nathan sleeps soundly next to me. I hear Mariano on the baby monitor, so I quietly kiss Nate's lips and get up to take care of Mariano.

"Good morning, my little man. Did you sleep well?"

He scrunched up his little face and whimpered in my arms as I picked him up.

"Let's get you ready for the day and get breakfast for daddy?"

I change little man and sit down for him to have his breakfast. This will always be our special time. I reflect back on the last year and wonder where I would be now if Nathan had never driven down that road on the rainy night. My luck had changed that day. I sit quietly as he feeds, rocking back and forth. He eventually falls back asleep, and I place him back in his crib to head downstairs to make breakfast for us. I had gotten the sausage and eggs done and the toast in the toaster. I feel arms wrap around my waist and soft lips against my neck.

"Good morning, my love. How are you feeling?"

"A little sore, but I will manage."
"Your meds are there on the counter. Make sure you take them."

"Thank you, nurse. Breakfast smells wonderful."

"Thank you, I was going to bring you breakfast in bed, but someone was impatient."
"I woke up and you weren't there. I thought maybe you were in with Leo, but he was sleeping soundly, so I knew you had already been in with him, then I smelled the sausage and knew where you were."

"Can't hide too long from you, can I?"

"Nope, I will always find you." He chuckled, and his breath grazed my earlobe, and my skin broke with goosebumps. His lips move against my neck, and my body comes alive. His hands rom as I reach behind me and thread my fingers through his hair. His hips begin to move against my ass, and I moan in response. Turning in his arms, our lips lock as our tongues fight to find each other. I drown in the taste of his tongue. I can never get enough. He lifts me up, and my legs wrap around him, forgetting in our lust filled haze that he is still hurt.

"Fuck, that hurt."

He quickly sets me down and doubles over for a moment, breathing through the pain. I quickly get his meds and some water for him to take it with.

"I'm sorry. I should have stopped."

"It's not your fault. I couldn't help myself, and I knew better."
"Let's go check your bandage. It's time to change it anyway."
I turn off the stove, and we walk back to the bedroom. He sits down, and I carefully take off the bandage. There was a little seepage, but other than that, it looked okay. I grab the material to change it and get to work. After a few moments, the wound is clean and rebandaged. We head back to the kitchen, and I finish making breakfast as he starts the coffee and sets the table. When breakfast is ready, I bring it to the table as he brings over two mugs of coffee, and we sit down.

"Are you sure about letting him choose that life?"
"Baby, I can't hide him from that. It's his legacy. It wouldn't be fair. I know that life is filled with unknowns, but if he wants it, then I can't tell him no."

"He's not my son, so I guess I can't say what he does or doesn't."
He may not be yours biologically, but he is yours in every other sense. You will be there for him, all of his ups and downs. You will be the one to give him advice. Don't sell yourself short. I know you love him and he loves you."

"Thank you, baby. I do love him like my own."
WE had been talking and eating for a bit when we heard a knock at the door. I look to Nathan, and he shrugs his shoulders as I get up to answer it. I open the door, and standing in front of me are Mariano's parents and Eddie.

"Hello sweetheart."
