Chapter 10 : Drift
Third POV
Soon after Haniya's and Shayan's engagement, things were getting the way they were before.
Mrs. Khan was now more busier with her social life and kitty parties while Mr. Khan barely knew about the things going at home. He only knew about his office and meetings.
At day time it was only Haniya who was at home. She use to be alone all time as her semester ended. She was tired of being at home so when Shayan asked her to go out with him she agreed but the drinking and smoking stuff in the club was not her cup of tea so she would only go to house parties with Shayan where there were fewer people than in clubs.
Haniya now slowly disliked his way of life. Whenever she asked him to pray he would yell and ask her mind her own business.
Haniya was now getting frustrated with him. Now he was asking her to stop wearing dupatta at parties. This made her lose her mind. How could ask his would-be wife to display her body for other men. She disagreed and with that there fights begin.
In a month period they had more than several fights but they made up. Every time they will again try to understand each other but they would fail.
Haniya was now thinking to get out of this relationship but their engagement was still on people's mind and her parents would never allow her to break a engagement which was a success and they were considered as best couple.
She didn't wanted to be in a relationship that was leading her to Haram. She slowly stopped going out with him and prayed to Allah to give her patience.
It was Saturday night and as usual there was a house party but this time it was a grand one. Shayan called Haniya and asked her to come along for which she disagreed but he was not in any mood to listen a 'no' form her.
He went straight to her house and asked Mrs. Khan to pursue her to come with him.
Mrs. Khan forced her to go out with him. She wanted them to develop understanding towards each other. After giving Haniya a lecture she order her to come down in 5 minutes.
"Shayan, she will be down in 5 minutes" Mrs. Khan said descending the stairs to Shayan who was seated in their longue.
"Thank you Aunty" He said giving a forced smile.
After 5 minutes Haniya came out wearing a simple yet classic looking white long frock. She was looking beautiful with her open hair which was covered by her dupatta. Seeing her he took hold of her hand dragging her out.
She tried to get her hand free but his hold was stronger.
"Shayan leave my hand its paining." She tried removing his hand.
He dashed her towards the car "How many times do I have to tell you not to wear this on parties" he said while grabbing her dupatta in his fist.
"Leave me Shayan. I don't want to go anywhere with you" She said removing her dupatta form his fists.
"You are going with me and thats final." He said while throwing her dupatta form her head exposing her hair.
"Shayan.." she gasped holding her dupatta on her shoulder but he forced her to sit in and he himself went to sit on driving seat and started driving.
"Shayan please drop me at home I don't want to go anywhere with you" She said stopping her tears but he gave no response and continued to rash drive.
Form today she started to hate him even more. The face she chosen was now the most hideous one to her. He was only a handsome man and nothing more.
Soon they entered into the house where the party was going on. Shayan left Haniya at the door while he made his way to his friends.
"I wish I could have considered Haya instead of her. She is too conservative." He mumbled as he went close to his friends.
Haniya was still standing at the door then she quietly moved to the corner where there was no one.
"Shayan looks like you two are fighting again." One of Shayan's friends said to him.
"When we are not fighting" He laughed sarcastically gulping down the beer in his hand.
"Man you just need to get to know each other better " said Ali. He was one of his friend, like everyone he thought that Haya and Shayan will tie down but Shayan just surprised everyone by getting engaged to her.
Haniya was standing at the corner when one of his friends trolled towards her.
"You look beautiful" He complimented her looking at her hair.
"Thank you" She mumbled uncomfortabely under his gaze and stood up to leave to where Shayan was.
"I wished I have gotten engaged to Haya instead of her" Shayan blabbered in his semi drunk state when Haniya was few feets aways form him.
She stood rooted her place, hearing him from a distance. Her blood boiled hearing him. She gulped down the glass of juice in her hand and took step a move out but she felt dizzy and fell down.
"Shayan!" His friends called him.
"Now what happened to her" he scuffed and moved to pick her up.
Laying her down on the bed in one of the rooms. He slumped down besides her.

And he didnt sustain himself and was going to face the consequences.
Haya's POV
Amma was cooking something when I entered kitchen after praying.
"Are you making Briyani?" I said taking in the flavorsome aroma of the rice.
"Yes I am cooking Briyani" She said stirring the rice making me grin like a child.
I took a cucumber to make salad. I didn't even know to cut but with time it became a routine for me to help Amma in kitchen. Now I was able at least cut things properly.
Even though she lived in a village but Hamza Bhai lavished the house with latest things. As we walk outside the house it was village but from inside it was a very comfortable house.
Days were turning into weeks and weeks into months. Time was flying by silently. I was in contact with Sarah but I never contacted anyone at home.
In these all month she was constantly persuading Hamza Bhai to get married. Every month she had a new list of girls and I was enjoying his condition. Sometimes they would argue on the phone and I would be giggling behind.
Today was a same day for Hamza Bhai. It was Sunday and Amma was again telling him about new girls she searched for.
"Hamza! I want you to get married now" Amma huffed
"Are you waiting for me to die" Amma growled, probably he again said that he doesn't want to get married. I laughed at his condition.
"Amma, say Haya stop" I heard him from the other side of the phone making me laugh more. Seeing me laughing, Amma glared at me. So I simply walked away before she explodes on me.

The winter were here and due to severe cold in Skardu, Amma's health was not good so we went to back to Hamza Bhai's flat where we will be staying till she is okay. As Hamza Bhai was a doctor he called us back so that he can himself monitor Amma's health.
I still get embarrassed thinking how I reacted when I saw him for the first time. I created a drama. I sighed thinking about it while shaking my head.
As he saw me on airport he made a weird expression making me look at the new dress which I bought for myself. It was a light blue shalwar kameez along with a dupatta.
"Is there something wrong?" I asked as he opened his jaw dramatically.
"Amma what happened to the Haya you took. I think you came with the wrong person." He said while eyeing me in a teasing manner.
"Amma lets go" I rolled my eyes at him and moved towards his car with Amma making him chuckle.
"Amma are you sure she is the same Haya" He said as he seated in the driving seat.
"By the way Amma has selected new girls for you Bhai, this time you will definitely will fall for one" I teased.
"You sure became modest but you still have that stupid brain of yours" Hamza Bhai mocked.
"Amma look at him" I whined.
"Both of you stop now" Amma scolded both of us and smacked his head.
I struck my tongue towards him as I was seated behind and Amma couldnt see me making him glare at me. After glaring at me he started driving.
It was common for us to annoy each other. Since childhood we were like this which even Amma was unable to understand. One moment we would be enemies and other we would be best brother sister a person has seen.

It was now 4 days since we moved here and Amma's health was quite better now. She was looking healthier too.
I was came here but never wanted to visit my house, I called Sarah at a restaurant and had a coffee. She was busy studing harder as she wanted to become a doctor.
Later in the evening when Hamza Bhai came back from hospital he threw his coat on the sofa in loungue where Amma was sitting.
"Amma look at him he comes and throws his coat and then in the morning he yells looking for it" I said throwing him an amused look because he knows where this topic will lead to.
"Thats why I am saying him to get married." Amma said and he just rolled his eyes making me suppress my giggle.
"Don't forget the day when I punched that boy who pushed you in the school and your knee got bruised" He reminded me of a school memory.
"That has nothing to do with your marriage" I shrugged.
"Can I get a tea or I have to marry for that too" he huffed while slumping down close to Amma.
"Sure Bhai but what will happen after we go" I asked while pouting sadly.
"Haya!!" he said throwing a cushion at me.
"Do you what a tea or not?" I mocked as I ducked the pillow.
"I dont need your tea" He said while standing up with his coat.
"Okay okay I making you one" I smirked and moved towards the kitchen which was connected to the lounge.
"Thank you" he beamed with a smile.
" And don't you forget this. How many times I made you tea AFTER you get married" I emphasize on word 'after' while pointing towards him, narrowing my eyes.
"HAYA !!!!" He yelled grabbing another cushion.
"Amma see now he is throwing things to" I said and Amma smacked his head.
"She is younger than you but you act more like a child than her" she while getting up.
"Amma!" His eyes widen on being called a kid making me laugh more.
"Looks like you both team against me" He says while pointing his finger at both of us.
"Then get married so that you have a partner too. Then you will have no problem if we team up." Amma said while taking the cushion form his hand.
"Amma you too " He said and stood up taking his bag and walked towards his room shutting his door with a loud thud
As the door closed we both started laughing our hearts out.
