I Can't Lose Him
Jerome's POV
I woke up early and hobbled to the kitchen, then dropped my crutches as I tried to support myself with the table. I slowly pushed myself to my feet, shakily standing and moving my foot forward. Then I fell.
I uttered a growl and pushed myself back up, wobbly walking to the counter and opening a cupboard before I fell. Again.
"Fuck dammit!" I groaned, standing for the third time and forcing myself to grab a box of cereal before I realised my vision was going black. I stepped back and swayed, then my stomach flipped as I fell. I felt a dull pain in my head before I was out.
Mitch's POV
I heard a loud bang from downstairs, and stood instantly. I walked to the dresser and pulled pants on before plodding downstairs, expecting to find Jerome cussing about how he couldn't walk.
Instead I find a huge puddle of thick red blood. I felt sick when I realised it was Jerome's, and he was laying on his back in the puddle. My heart shattered, to say the least, and I ran over, grabbing paper towels before I picked him up.
I carried him to the car in a daze, drove to the hospital, and brought him in. I didn't remember what happened, but Adam later told me I was covered in his blood screaming for someone to help Jerome.
Now I sat in his new hospital room, his dried blood still on me as I sobbed into Ryan's chest. A new nurse, not the one from before, walked in and smiled faintly at me.
"Hello, Mr. Aceti seems to have gotten a concussion after he pushed himself to hard. He is now in a coma... we don't think he's going to live," I only heard the last part, and it played over and over in my head.
Don't think he's going to live.
Don't think he's going to live.
Don't think he's going to live.
I gasped and sobbed even harder into Ryan's chest, feeling Ty's hand on my shoulder. He was crying too, I think all of us were.
"We need... need to tell his parents," I said, and the nurse nodded, her eyes sad.
"They have been contacted and informed about his situation. They said they were coming." I looked up and nodded before wiping the tears away, standing up and looking around.
"Can we be alone, I need to talk to everyone," I asked, and she nodded, exiting the room.
I walked to Jerome's bed, kneeling slightly and reaching forward to grab his hand, thinking before I spoke.
"We were... kind of together. I... I love him, guys... I can't live without him," I looked at Jerome's peaceful features, and my knees wobbled, making me fall down to the floor. I was crying again, I couldn't help it.
"Oh Mitch..." Ryan sighed, waking over and moving to hug me, but I smacked him away.
The others stayed quiet, they probably didn't know what to say. I was mumbling to myself by now, saying what I wanted to say to Jerome.
"I love you Jerome... I need you in my life, why did you do this... why did you leave me?" I asked, over and over again. At some point his family came in, and they avoided me, allowing me to grieve alone.
"Mitch... stop crying. You know... I hate it when you cry," I heard, and my head snapped up, the tears stopping before they began to flow again, a huge smile on my face.
"I thought you wouldn't wake up..."
"I'm up, now come here."
