Hope and I were celebrating our eleven month anniversary tonight. I was taking her to her favourite restaurant 'The Hills' which my uncle owned. Before I hop out of my car, I check my black hair is styled neatly and then look at myself for a few seconds, my green eyes staring back at me. Finally getting out of the car, I take a deep breath and start walking up to the door. When I reach it, I know, quickly fixing up my shirt just as the door opens to reveal a flustered Celeste: Hope's mother. 

"Hi, James! Hope will be down in a minute." She smiles and gestures her hand inside the house. "Come on in." 

Two seconds later the most beautiful human being I'd ever seen makes her way down the stairs. A few months ago, she'd lost her red luscious locks, but in my eyes she was still gorgeous. She wore a blue plaid play-suit with cowboy boots. Suddenly, Hope looks up and smiles at the awed expression I know is on my face, her blue eyes shining. 

"You look absolutely stunning." I whisper in her ear when she reaches me, placing a gentle kiss on her cheek.

"You look okay, I guess." She jokes as she takes my hand. She says her goodbyes to her mum and dad, David, who comes out of the living room to stand by his wife's side. Then we leave, both oblivious to what would happen in the hours that followed.
