{forty-one}
Monday, four days until debut.
"Are you excited? You must be, I mean, it's finally happening! We've been cheering you on since Day One, you know." My mother said excitedly, holding Kiko up to the video camera, who clawed at my mother's hands.
"I am, but I wish you could be here, you know. I can get you tickets, but flights are so expensive," I said softly, sighing, "I've already performed live before, that isn't what's so nerve racking, it's just.. I mean, the music video is going to be uploaded everywhere. All three songs, everywhere! It's not even a whole album!" I rambled on anxiously, before pinching my nose, sighing.
"It's an amazing start, Y/N. We're so proud. And look, if it doesn't work out, you can always come back home. But it will." My Dad interjected, taking the cat from my Mum who wiped the fur off her arms.
"Thank you. Apparently it's got a record number of preorders for any trainee, too, which is insane. I think it's because of the dance challenges I did with a few idols." I explained, moving my phone into the kitchen as I heated up some leftovers from the night before- my manager had taken me out for dinner, and I barely had an appetite then.
I barely had one anymore, actually.
"Well that's exciting!! Are you being paid well? Love for the job is important but so is the income," my Dad asked, as I just laughed, the microwave beeping.
"Yes, it's alright. I've only just started so it won't be very much. It'll go up though after the song is out."
"Well, that's good."
Wednesday, two days until debut.
I went to visit Ahna in the hospital. After all, she had asked me to.
"Can you believe I'm being discharged tomorrow? I'll be able to make it to your debut showcase! I'm so excited, Y/N! You're living my dreams for real," she giggled, holding my hand as Jun sat there, uninterested.
"You been seeing the guys around? There's been rumours about you and Han, now." Jun asked, as I turned to face her.
"Oh. Right. Those. Yeah, no, I try to leave them be. They're having a comeback soon, so.." I said, as Jun just nodded, eyes which had harrowed in suspicion turning back to her phone.
"Oh do tell Han I say hi though! I've wanted to go to a Stray Kids concert for so long! And so does Jun, I mean, she's a huge fan of Felix. I mean who wouldn't be? Oh you got to dance with him I'm so jealous." Ahna rambled, holding onto my hand.
Hers were so cold.
"I'll try get you tickets for their next tour," I smiled softly, as she just smiled back.
"Oh, well, I might not be here anymore, but thank you."
Right. My lips turned down as I just squeezed her hand.
"You're going to win this battle. I know you will."
When I got back to the company building, my manager was waiting for me with my choreographer, as I went over and practiced the dance.
Again, and again, over and over.
There were no 'do overs', no take twos on stage.
And both the company and I needed this to go well. My dream was almost here, almost fulfilled, and yet...
I didn't feel ecstatic or happy or anything of the sort.
Anxiety gnawed at my stomach, my heart constantly fluttering like a butterfly. The threats had slowed to a stop completely, and for some reason that worried me more.
What the hell were they planning? Or was this part of their tactic to scare me.
Either way, I didn't interact or talk with Stray Kids.
They were busy; and so was I. It worked out well.
But the radio silence from Felix was horrible.
Yes, I walked out, yes, I told him to stay away, but I was scared and confused. I knew in my gut something was wrong, no one just coincidentally has a doppler ganger who works with them.
I'm an idiot. But it's too late to do anything about that now.
I did want to talk to him, smooth things out, but it'll have to wait until after I debuted-
My thoughts were interrupted as I entered my dance practice room, and Felix stood there with a bunch of flowers, looking at me with tears peppering his eyes and falling down freckled cheeks.
"Y/N, there's so many things I want to say. Can we talk? Please?"
