The Toretto family weren't rich but they always lived a comfortable and happy life together. Even after their parents passed, Dominic made it his personal goal to care for his two younger sisters. The way their father would have if he was still alive.

Ellie Toretto was happy with her life, she wasn't attending college like her younger sister Mia so instead spent most of her time either working, racing others, or fixing cars. Her father and brother were always her idols growing up and never let the fact that she was a girl get in the way of including her. 

Most people she raced at first, doubted her skills but were quickly left stunned after losing. Which was a bonus since she got to spend most of her winnings on clothes or car parts.

Dom tried to keep his sister away from the "life," which mostly worked with Mia, but for Ellie,  the life just gravitated to her. She was an adrenaline junkie, just like the rest of them. She craved it and loved it. This was the reason (aside from her driving skills) that Dom allowed her to take part in hijacking the trucks.

Everything was going perfectly at first, the plans were solid and executed correctly. But unknowingly to them, the FBI was on to them. Basically tracking their every move and even had a member go undercover.

But ever since, Brian O'Conner stepped foot in the market and ordered that shitty tuna sandwich with no crust, he captured Ellie's attention. Often distracted her from work and was a person constantly on her mind.

She liked him, really liked him. Which was huge for her since nobody had ever captured her attention for this long. Brian distracted her but it went both ways.

But Ellie's life was going too well, too perfect for it to be real. After all, she was a criminal.
