Loria couldn't believe she was finally living in the big apple. It was her dream to live in New York City while doing the one thing she wanted to do all her life.

She remembered the day she got the call from the Shining Star Records secretary.
She was busy cooking dinner for her little sister when her phone started ringing. With a tired sigh she picked it up and answered.

"Hello," answered Loria.

"Hi good day, is this Miss Loria Lynch?" Asked the person on the other end of the line.

"Yes, and who am I speaking to?" Replied Loria.

"This is Miss Wright from Shining Star Records, I'm calling on behalf of my boss Mr. Kent. I'm his secretary and I'm calling to inform you that you are now a signed singer at our studio," answered Miss Wright.

Loria mouth fell open and her hands began trembling so fast that her phone fell. She could barely process the words that she heard from the woman. Ever since she could remember, she had always loved singing and the older she got the more that passion grew. She spent most of her high school years in the music room around a piano and writing songs. She had sent a few cds out to different studios but after her mom passed away  due to cancer leaving her with her six year old sister Vicky, she thought her dreams of being a singer would die too.

Loria was snapped out of her shock when she heard her sister crying and shouting at the lady on the phone.

"What did you say to my sister?" Shouted a crying Vicky.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset your sister. I was just delivering good news to her", replied a shock Miss Wright.

Loria took the phone from her sister and told her that she was fine just a bit shocked at the news. She hugged her sister to calm her down while listening to the information Miss Wright had for her.

A month later she and her little sister had moved from their old home in Trenton, New Jersey and was now living in a nice apartment in New York City. It still felt like a dream to her and she dread the day she would wake up and her new life would all disappear. 

Loria had been working on her newest song which talked about the struggles she faced after her mom died. The stressed she went through trying to get a job that paid enough to cover the bills and buy food for her and her sister to eat.

Each word had her fighting back tears because it reminded her of a time she was almost certain her dreams of being an artist would never come through. A tear fell from her eyes when she remembered her little sister telling her that she believed in her when she found Loria curled up in the bathroom sobbing.

"Mom this one's for you," whispered Loria.
