Up.

One of the most prominent commands in Flying, this single word is used to summon the broom of a witch or wizard, no matter what make or model, into the owner's grasp.

But the witch or wizard must be patient with the broom as any negative feelings can hinder the advancement of the broom to the owner. Frustration, anger, annoyance, sadness are all examples of the negative emotions that can conflict with the command.

Generally, young students do not have control over their feelings and, while attempting this command, often end up with more negative emotions than when they started, thus making it near enough impossible for the broom to want to obey the command. This is because they allow their emotions to wander freely across their minds and into their every day lives.

People who have learnt to guard their emotions carefully, keeping them closer to themselves and not letting them wander, tend to acquire a higher success rating with this command as the emotions do not have the allowance to interfere with it. These kind of people are usually adults or children who have been taught to keep their feelings in check.

If the negative emotions do display, the brooms can do many things - other than attract to the owner. These things are things such as; rolling around on the floor, springing away from the rider, levitating slightly and then dropping back down, twisting around...and so on.

Flying can be dangerous, as well as useful, with consequences like falling off, knocking into things and breaking objects and bones. These can result in severe telling offs and consequences from others. When learning to fly, it is advised that witches or wizards should be accompanied by an experienced flyer. A witch or wizard alway needs to be careful when handling, learning to fly or actually flying a broom.
