Astronomy Homework - Lesson Two - The Sun
I'm so sorry. I know that this is like your favourite subject but I found it so hard to reword this and, although I do love astronomy, it is slightly confusing for me at times. This was the best I could do... and the only things I really understood. Sorry.

The Sun, like all stars in our galaxy, is a massive, scorching hot ball of gas. It has lived for billions of years (approximately 4.5 billion years), appearing numerous times in mythology (in the Greek mythology, it was called Helios and, in the Roman mythology, it was named Sol) and even has its own momentous history. At a whopping 1,390,000 km in diameter and 659,000 km in radius, it has a surface temperature of 5,800 k°C and a core temperature of 15,600,000 k°C along with an enormous mass of 1.989e30 kg - making it one of the top 10% of the stars in terms of mass.
As an 'ordinary' main-sequence G2 star, the Sun has been around for about 4,500,000,000 years and will probably continue to be around for another 5,000,000,000 years. At this precise moment, the Sun is made up of approximately 70% hydrogen, 28% helium and 2%...other stuff.
From Earth, due to the proxemics of the Sun and the Moon, they seem the same size. Due to this fact, and the fact that the Moon orbits the Earth about the same plane as the Sun, sometimes the Moon comes in between the Sun and the Earth, causing something called a solar eclipse. Solar eclipses happen around twice a year, whether partial or full. Many people journey many miles to see a solar eclipse as they are amazing things.
