Dittancaria McDougal, more informally know as Ditty, was a very prominent and revered herbologist and potioneer. A massively accomplished person in general, she has a combination of skills that are very often found together.

Her achievements are many in number but here two main ones have to be the discovery of dittany and the realisation of the potentials of mistletoe berries.

Dittany is an influential healing herb and has the ability to restore some minor injuries. Whilst supposedly out searching for flowers for her mothers birthday in the year 1609, she came across these herbs. Although it is rumored that she was actually out buying a vial of unicorn blood.

Side note (about unicorn blood): To drink the blood of an animal so pure is extremely immoral and, although the drinker would be cured from any and all illnesses or wounds, it would not be worth it because they would end up living a 'half  life' as they would be cursed for the rest of their life.

Although it usually cannot totally cure a wound any deeper than a shallow one, dittany can make new skin grow over it.

Random uses: Mixed with silver, dittany can cure a werewolf bite. It also is used in the Wiggenweld Potion which can wake someone from a magically induced sleep.

Mistletoe berries are the other of Ditty's most notable discoveries. They, of course, have always existed and have always been known to exist. But, in 1619, ten years after Dittancaria McDougal found the healing herb; dittany, she also discovered the potentials of these berries. The non-berry part of the plant, though, as a complete opposite to the berries, are intensely poisonous. The berries, on the other hand, are actually used in both the Antidote To Common Poisons and the Forgetfulness Potion.
