Reunions and Proposals Part two
Percy's point of view
I started walking toward the area where my best friends and girlfriend were standing, honestly I was hoping that they would treat me like they always had, but I really don't know what they will do.
When I reached them I said, "Hey guys."
They said, "Hey Percy."
Or in Grover's case, he said, "Hey Perce."
"So how's being a god?" Nico asked.
I shrugged and said, "Pretty cool, but I missed you guys."
They nodded. Why were things suddenly so awkward between us? It's like they were struggling to find things to say to me like they weren't comfortable talking to me anymore.
I said, "Once I finish my training I will be taking over as Camp Director."
They did seem happy with that, but then again I knew that none of the campers liked Dionysus since he seemed to hate demigods, although he did seem to kind of care about his own kids.
Finally, I said, "Annabeth can I talk to you?"
She nodded and I led her toward the beach. At this point, most of the campers had dispersed and gone back to their activities.
When we reached the beach I said: "Annabeth we need to talk."
"About us?" she asked.
I answered, "Yes about us. Annabeth I still love you, I never stopped loving you. Wise girl, I realize that now my appearance has changed, and I am more powerful than I used to be, but my personality hasn't changed. I'm still the same seaweed brain you fell in love with. Or do you not love me anymore?"
Annabeth replied, "I do, but you're immortal I'm not..."
I stuck a hand up indicating she should stop right there. I said, "Annabeth, the Olympians have given me permission to marry you and make you my immortal wife, but I said that I would ask you first. You are the most important Person in my life, I couldn't imagine you not being a part of it. I fell into Tartarus with you because I knew I wouldn't be able to live without you. It may have taken me longer to realize how I felt about you, but now I know how I truly feel. I realize that we are only seventeen, but Annabeth will you marry me?"
She stared at me for a moment stunned before she said, "Yes I will marry you. I know that we are only seventeen, but we are demigods, or at least I am. If we don't do it now we may never get the chance. Percy, I was worried that godhood had changed you, but you seem to be the same idiot I fell in love with. It would be foolish of me to think that you wouldn't be faithful to me, your fatal flaw has always been loyalty, and you are now the god of loyalty. These past weeks while you were on Olympus I missed you a lot. I love you seaweed brain."
I replied, "I love you too Wise Girl."
I pulled her in for a kiss, and when we separated again Annabeth said, "I can't imagine my mother was too happy about this."
I replied, "She wasn't."
I told Annabeth about what Athena had said to me after the meeting, but honestly, I wasn't that worried about it. I had no intentions of hurting Annabeth so Athena wouldn't have to worry.
After Annabeth had agreed to marry me I had slid the ring onto her finger. The band was a mix of gold and silver, it also had a blue stone surrounded by smaller white diamonds. After that Annabeth and I walked hand in hand, back to where we had left Apollo and Chiron.
As we walked we seemed to talk more easily than we had in weeks. I told her about everything that had happened on Olympus, while she told me more about what had happened at camp since the war ended. Then Annabeth started talking about what she had planned for my palace on Olympus. I tried to pay attention to what she was saying, I really did, but I just didn't understand half of it.
As we reached where we had left Apollo and Chiron I could see Chiron was gone. Maybe he had gone off to teach a class or something, I really didn't know. When Apollo noticed us I think he noticed our happy expressions first, then his gaze shifted down to our hands. That's when he noticed we were holding hands and the ring that was on Annabeth's finger.
After that, he told us that we would have to head back to Olympus. That's where I have to stay most of the time these days, and we would have to finish the process of making Annabeth my Immortal wife. As we got back we ran into my dad. I'm guessing he was probably wondering if Annabeth had agreed or not. He seemed to be happy for us, but then again I had heard from Apollo that my dad was the one who had suggested the idea in the first place.
Although I was slightly surprised by that I suspected that unlike Athena he was willing to ignore their rivalry so I would be happy. I guess I haven't been hiding my feelings as well as I thought I was then. Otherwise, he shouldn't have seen what he had. He had probably seen that I hadn't really been happy since I became a god. It had felt like something was always missing. I knew that was Annabeth but I never even dared to think that I would be able to be with her. I knew the relationship couldn't last unless she was given immortality. Now I'm just happy that I can be with her for the rest of my life.
