Elves, Elves, and More Elves
"Oh my Valar! This is so cute!"
"Yeah, it's adorable."
"It's a cat playing the keyboard in a t-shirt! It's soooooooooooo cute!"
"Phoenix it's not that
impressive."
Phoenix snapped his gaze away from his phone (where he was watching the cat play the keyboard) and glared at his older brother.
"Look at it!"
Phoenix shoved his phone into Legolas' face.
"Phoenix!"
Legolas smacked the phone out of Phoenix's hands.
The red haired elf cried out in horror and then sighed in relief just as he caught the phone before it hit the ground.
"Phew! That was close."
Legolas rolled his eyes and continued to walk beside his brother, who had resumed holding his phone right in front of his face while he watched the cat.
"You seem grumpy today Legolas."
Caneir, a warrior from Mirkwood, commented with a chuckled.
"I just don't see what's so interesting about a cat playing a keyboard."
Legolas retorted.
"Besides, you can obviously tell that it's being moved by a person."
"Well thanks for ruining the fun for me Legolas!"
Phoenix snapped.
"Here I was thinking that the cat was smart enough to play the keyboard on its own."
"Seriously Phoenix?"
Legolas looked at him skeptically.
"Yeah you do seem grumpy."
Phoenix said nonchalantly.
"Maybe the heat's getting to you."
Caneir suggested.
"Yeah..."
Phoenix nodded his head slowly.
"Maybe if I were to-"
"GET THOSE SCISSORS AWAY FROM ME PHOENIX!"*
Legolas ran behind Caneir who was trying hard not to laugh.
The same couldn't be said for Elena (another guard) who wasn't even trying to hold back her laughter.
"It's been four years since that "incident" Legolas."
She managed to say between fits of laughter.
"It took forever for me to live that down!"
Legolas was about to step out from behind Caneir but stopped when he noticed that Phoenix still had his scissors.
"Come on you three. Lord Elrond is expecting you by this evening, we'll never get there if you two keep bickering."
Caneir said walking forward and leaving Legolas scrambling to catch up.
Phoenix put his scissors away and laughed quielty to himself. Elena followed behind the two princes
Legolas and Phoenix had been invited to Rivendell for a party (just like our hobbits were) and their father had insisted on sending guards with them.
Usually he didn't mind sending them alone but a few weeks ago Phoenix had "accidently" left his laptop out and Thranduil had gotten ahold of it.
Phoenix had just happened to be browsing through some Lord of the Rings fanfiction and the ones had had been looking at all involved Legolas; and none of them were exactly "happy" stories.
Thranduil had gone into a panic and had ordered guards to be with Legolas at ALL times, which was not cool with Legolas.
Phoenix had denied his brother's accusations of him leaving his laptop out on purpose but everyone knew that he had.
So now Caneir and Elena were the two guards who had been asked to escort Legolas and Phoenix to Rivendell.
Of course Thranduil seemed to have forgotten that his son was one of the most skilled fighters in Middle Earth and the chances of him getting captured by orcs or something were very small.
Phoenix could fight whenever he had to but for the most part he prefered to let others do the fighting for him.
He also knew that he could easily beat Legolas in a fight but he decided to keep that information to himself.
By now they were only a few minutes away from Rivendell and Phoenix wanted to do one more annoying thing to Legolas before they arrived.
"Hey Legolas, do you remember that one song?"
"What song?"
"Oh you know, that song."
Legolas' eyes widened with complete and utter terror.
"You wouldn't."
"Oh I would."
"Phoenix-"
"An a 1, an a 2, an a-"
"NO!!!!!"
Legolas disappeared in cloud of dust leaving Caneir and Elena coughing.
"Were you seriously going to start singing the song?"
Elena asked once the dust cleard.
Phoenix chuckled.
"Nah. Recently I learned it's way more funny if you make him think you're about to sing it than actually sing it."
"This is very interesting and amusing Phoenix."
Caneir said.
"But shouldn't we catch up with your brother?"
"Why? It's so peaceful now."
Elena rolled her eyes.
"He said the same thing after he tied you to a tree in the middle of the forest and left you there overnight."
Caneir nodded remembering that particular night.
Phoenix just shrugged and started walking forward.
"I must say Legolas doesn't look like much of a pranker, but he can pull a good one off if he really works at it."
"Oh really?"
Elena asked.
"One time he tricked everyone into thinking he was a pirate."
Phoenix said.
"He had a ship, a girlfriend, everything! He even faked being stabbed in the heart by an octopus guy."
"Wow. He must have been pretty serious about tricking everyone."
Caneir said.
"Well actually now that I think about that may have been a phase or he actually thought he was a pirate."
Caneir and Elena exchanged a look and decided to drop the conversation. For the rest of the way to Rivendell no one spoke a word.

"Welcome Legolas, and Phoenix, to Rivendell."
Lindir smiled forefully at the approaching elves.
"Lindir? Are you alright?"
Legolas asked.
"I've never been better."
Lindir said trying to sound cheerful.
"Yeah.... I'm not buying it."
Phoenix crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes at Lindir.
"What are talking about? I'm just as happy as I always am."
"You seem worried."
"I AM NOT WORRIED!"
"You seem stressed."
"IAMNOTSTRESSEDNOWLEAVEMEALONE!"
Lindir spun on his heel and stomped away from them, only to walk right into a large very expensive looking vase, and knock it over.
"Lindir! Did you break another one of my vases?!"
Elrond's angry voice came from somewhere further down the hall.
"No! Everything's fine!
Lindir glanced worriedly at the shattered vase (it was the 20th vase he'd broken in that month) then quickly ran to find some glue and tape.
"Is this how people are usually greeted in Rivendell?"
Elena asked nudging Phoenix.
"I haven't been here before so how should I know?"
Phoenix then nudged (well, shoved) Legolas and demanded an answer.
"Lindir's always been weird."
Legolas stared down the hall where he had disappeared to.
"But he's never that weird."
"It may have something to do with his cat."
The four elves jumped as a voice sounded from behind them.
"Losider! Why are you always sneaking up on us?!"
Legolas shouted.
Losider grinned.
"Don't you know how hard it is for elves to sneak up on elves? Especially you two."
He pointed at Legolas and Phoenix.
"Legolas, who is this?"
Caneir asked.
Legolas sighed.
"This is Losider, he's a friend of mine and Aragorn's."
"Speaking of Aragorn is he here?"
Losider asked.
"No idea."
Legolas answered.
"Well we'll never know if we just stand here. Let's get inside already."
Phoenix entered the Last Homely House and the others followed.
As they went to see if anymore of their friends were there Lindir was doing his best to glue and tape the vase back together.
"By the way Losider,"
Caneir started.
"What did you say about Lindir having a cat?"
Legolas tensed and Losider began to look nervous.
"Uh, did I say that he had a cat?"
Losider said nervously.
"Yes."
Losider glanced fearfully at Legolas who only nodded.
Losider sighed and opened his mouth to speak.
"Lindir has a cat named ThunderPuff who tried to take over Middle Earth and some other place inside a wardrobe and he used to be crazy but is now more or less normal. Leggy and Losider over here are still scared of him."**
Phoenix said clasping his habds together behind his back while smiling proudly.
"Really? You guys are scared of a cat named ThunderPuff?"
Elena shook her head in disbelief.
"Ok first of all: we are not scared of him anymore."
Legolas stated firmly.
"Second, I doubt that he is normal. He is still probably very much most likely to be evil."
Phoenix snorted and Caneir and Elena were snickering.
"Fine don't believe us?"
Losider snapped.
"We'll just show him to you. Come on where's Lindir?"
But the elf was nowhere to be found and he had a very good reason for not wanting to be found.
You see right as he was putting the finishing touches on finishing the vase he had sneezed and destroyed the whole thing. He had been about to fix it again when Elrond showed up and went ballistic.
Lindir then ran for his life and was now currently hiding in a cupboard in the kitchen.
Eventually Elrond calmed down after Glorfindel assured him that he would buy him a new vase and keep it hidden from Lindir.
Satisfied with that Elrond had greeted his guests and prepared for the rest to arrive for the party.
Not knowing that in this world parties were the cause of all kinds of problems.
****
* In the first book Phoenix gave Legolas a haircut which caused him to go through a midlife crisis.
** ThunderPuff was given to Lindir by Elrond in order to help his self-esteem issues. He had no idea that the cat was psyhco.
Not much happenings in this chapter other than more character introductions. Keep in mind that things will start out slow but eventually will get better as the story progresses!
Anywho I hoped you all enjoyed this chapter and expect another update tomorow!
