Chapter 2

~Arwen's POV~

I pulled my horse to a stop when I heard a bloodcurdling scream. I closed my eyes, Linwë! Cursing to myself I nudged my horse to keep going.

"Ride quickly, mellon, keep Frodo safe," I whispered into her ear. I dismounted and she sped off to the palace. I began to follow the sound of the scream.

I ran as fast as I could, trying to get to Lin before the Wraiths hurt her. A branch that I had pushed away from my face came back and hit me. Scowling I broke it off of the branch and kept going, with more ferocity in my step.

I stopped moving when I started to feel the cold creep inside me, the Nazgul were close, I felt myself being pulled into the shadows. 'No! I cannot become one of them!' I told myself. I must rescue Linwë. I forced myself to move on. I couldn't let her become one of them. I stepped into a clearing and immediately pulled out my sword. There was Lin, lying unconscious in the grass with the four other Wraiths around her. The largest one took a step towards her, I charged at it, brandishing my sword. It let out a horrendous screech and pulled my sword out of hands and flung it into the trees on the other side of the clearing. It moved towards me and I backed into a tree. The other three Wraiths closed around me. The largest one came at me, and I ducked and veered left through an opening. I ran over to my sister and lifted her over my shoulder. I had no time to check too see if she was alright.

As I turned to go back the way I came, the other five Nazgul appeared. I looked around, and to my dismay there was no way out, I was trapped. I tried sending a silent plea to Aragorn. 'My love, please help me, I am trapped by all nine of the Nazgul! Help! As if the Valar answered my prayer I heard hoofbeats and saw Aragorn riding atop the small pony, carrying a torch. He rode around the clearing, shoving the flame into the Wraiths faces, if they have one. They let out one more screech before disappearing. I collapsed onto the ground in exhaustion and relief.

"Arwen, are you alright?" He asked, his voice full of concern.

"I am fine, Aragorn," I replied.

He jumped off his horse and walked over to me. He pulled Linwë off my shoulder and set her on the horse. I walked over to him and he embraced me. "This is why I didn't want you to take Frodo back," He whispered.

I pulled away, pretending to act offended. "I had it under control!"

"Of course you did, mellamin," He said smiling. "Where is the hobbit?"

"I sent my horse to take him to my father," Aragorn nodded and lifted me onto the horse behind Linwë.

"I didn't need your help Aragorn!"

He just smirked, glancing at me. I scowled. He moved to get on behind me but I pushed him away.

"No, Aragorn," I said gently, seeing disappointment in his eyes. "Go back to them, escort the Halflings to Rivendell, then we can talk."

Aragorn nodded and walked over to the bushes on the other side of the clearing, he picked up my sword and threw it to me. I caught it in my right hand and returned it to my side. I wrapped my arm around Linwë and rode off towards the palace.
