34 - THE GENIE OF AGRABAH
Word had spread fast about Belle French leaving Storybrooke. Although everyone understood the woman's decision to leave and hoped that she would get to live a long and happy life with her daughter, they wished that they could have given Belle a proper farewell party at Granny's Diner. Most of all, Snow White, who had been under the Evil Queen's sleeping curse and never even got the chance to say goodbye to her friend. But the most important thing is that Belle and her daughter were safe, and that they no longer had to fear the Dark One now that he was locked away in a cell at the sheriff's station. With Rumplestiltskin imprisoned and the Blue Fairy having found the Dark One's dagger hidden away at Gold's shop so they could lock that away as well, they had one less villain to worry about in town.
In the days that followed their victory against the Dark One, they focused on finding a way to break the bond that Regina had with the Evil Queen, hoping that by permanently separating the two women, it would allow them to defeat the darker half of the woman they all cared about once and for all. But they haven't found anything in any of their research yet, no matter how many grimoires they went through at Regina's vault. Their hope was barely hanging on by a thread, as it seemed as though there was no solution to their problem in sight.
Emma, Regina and Alice had taken a break to have dinner at Granny's Diner with everyone before they began heading back to the cemetery to continue searching through more of the many, many grimoires Regina had in her possession. With them, they had also brought along a sword that they had come across at Gold's shop when they were going through everything after he had been imprisoned in hopes of finding something that could help them. Emma had felt drawn to it when she saw it. The Savior wasn't able to explain the power she felt when she first held it in her hands, but they believed that she was meant to wield it and hoped that they could somehow use it against the Evil Queen without hurting Regina.
Once they arrived at the cemetery and entered the vault, they were surprised to find the Evil Queen herself standing inside. She was holding a bouquet of flowers and reached out to place them on the resting place of one Henry Mills.
"Get away from him!" Regina shouted.
"Oh, don't worry. I'm not here to desecrate our father's resting place," the Evil Queen said reassuringly as she turned to look at them, her eyes briefly lingering on Alice before she met Regina's gaze. "I loved him, too, you know." She chuckled darkly. "Loved. Past tense. Crushing his heart was the hardest thing we ever had to do, but his death was a necessary sacrifice that had to be made. His love always did make us disgustingly weak."
"He didn't need to die," Alice said, shaking her head in disbelief. "And I know that deep down, you know that. But you are just trying to justify your actions to make yourself feel better about what you did to the only person other than myself that truly loved you back then."
"See, that's where you are wrong, Alice," the Evil Queen said, pointing a finger at the woman. "His death and losing you were only two of the many things that pushed Regina to liberate me, to free me from the prison of her self-loathing." She looked at Regina, a grin spreading across her face. "To make me the best version of us."
"Regina, don't let her get to you," Emma whispered from beside her.
"It's too late," Regina said, her jaw clenched. She held out her palm, conjuring a fireball that caused the Evil Queen to laugh.
"What are you gonna do? Throw a fireball at yourself?" the Evil Queen taunted in amusement. She waved her hand, diminishing the fireball within Regina's hand. "The only way to hurt me is to hurt you, which is why your friends won't be able to stop me. See? Love is weakness." She then turned her attention to Emma. "Say hi to Sleeping Beauty. Or is it Sleeping Daddy?"
Anger boiled in her veins as she stared at the smirk on the Evil Queen's face. Emma wasn't exactly sure what had compelled her to do it, but the next moment, she had propelled herself forward and swung the sword at the Evil Queen.
"Emma, no!" Alice shouted, her eyes widening as she watched the Savior swing the blade down on the Evil Queen. Her heart plummeted into the pit of her chest as she watched a deep cut appear on the Evil Queen's cheek, a dribble of blood cascading down the woman's skin as the Evil Queen reached up to touch her face in shock.
Once she realized what she had done, Emma whipped around and stared at Regina with wide eyes as the woman stood there cupping her cheek. "Are you . . .?"
To their surprise, as Regina lowered her hand from the side of her face, they found that she hadn't been harmed like the Evil Queen had. Her skin was perfectly intact. And it was then that they realized why the sword had called to the Savior. She was meant to wield it. This is how she was supposed to defeat the Evil Queen once and for all.
"I'm . . . fine," Regina said in a mixture of shock and confusion.
The Evil Queen waved a hand over her cheek in an attempt to heal herself, but her eyes widened when she realized that the dull pain remained there, her magic having failed to work. It was as though the sword had been enchanted to prevent someone from healing themselves from the wound that they would sustain from the blade.
As the realization quickly set in that she was holding the only thing that they knew could kill the Evil Queen, Emma launched forward again. But the Evil Queen quickly teleported out of the vault before the Savior could get the chance to kill her, leaving them to ponder what had just happened.
Emma turned to look at Regina and Alice, her eyes widening. "We can kill her," she said breathlessly.
"We can kill her," Alice echoed, a smile slowly stretching across her face.
。。。
After their interaction with the Evil Queen, the three of them had quickly made their way back to Snow White and David's house to inform everyone of the discovery that they had made. Everyone was grouped together in the living room as Emma and Alice finished explaining what went down at the vault, their faces that of shock and relief as they processed what they had been told.
"So, it can hurt the Evil Queen without hurting Regina?" David asked.
"We watched it happen with our own eyes," Alice confirmed with a nod.
"The Evil Queen needs to die," Emma said, briefly glancing at Regina, who had been uncharacteristically quiet since they had arrived at the home of Snow White and David. She knew the woman was relieved they had found a way to kill the Evil Queen, but it was obvious Regina was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that her evil half would soon be gone for good. "And . . . I need to be the one to do it."
"Why you?" Teresa asked with furrowed brows.
"It's not just that I'm the Savior," Emma explained. "It's . . . it's this sword. When we found it at Gold's shop, it was like it was calling out to me, and only me. I was meant to have it, which means that I have to be the one to do it. I have to be the one to kill her."
"She's right," Alice sighed. "Gold had the sword locked away at his shop for a reason. He obviously knew it had to be of some importance to the Savior prophecy. But Emma, that doesn't mean that you're in this alone. You may be the one with the sword, but we can't let you face her alone. She'll be smart about it now that she knows you are able to hurt her without hurting Regina."
Suddenly, David's cell phone rang. He quickly reached into his jacket pocket and found that Leroy was calling. He excused himself from the room as he answered it, wanting to make sure everything was okay.
Killian crossed the room, sitting down beside Emma on the couch. "You sure about this, love?" he asked softly.
"In this case, the cliché is true," Emma said with a shrug as she looked into his ocean blue eyes. "I was . . . born for this."
"Mom," Henry said, speaking up for the first time. She turned to look at him, and he shook his head pleadingly. "Don't do it."
Emma sighed, exchanging a look with Regina as she got up from the couch and walked over to where her son was standing beside Teresa. She reached out with her free hand, grabbing his hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Henry, I can stop her. With this sword, I can save all of us."
Henry pulled his hand away, shaking his head. "You don't know what can happen. The Evil Queen is dangerous. What if you die?"
Emma's eyes softened. "You brought me to this town for a reason, Henry. Because you believed that I was the Savior. That I could save this town. I am that person. And I will save everyone. It's what I'm supposed to do. I'm the Savior, kid."
"But you're also my mom," Henry frowned. "And I don't want to lose you, too."
With that, Henry brushed past his mother and headed into the next room. They heard the door to the backyard open up, Emma wincing as she heard it close behind her son, who was obviously upset with her decision to put herself in such danger. She sighed and turned to look at Regina. The woman offered her a small, reassuring smile.
"I'll go talk to him," Alice offered, knowing that Regina and Emma needed to discuss how and when they were going to defeat the Evil Queen.
But just before Alice could leave the room, David re-entered the living room, saying, "Hey. That was Leroy. The Evil Queen was spotted, headed down Main Street."
Emma glanced at everyone in the room, her hazel eyes lingering on the door that her son had walked out of moments ago, before she turned to look at her father again. "Alright," she nodded, gripping the sword tightly in her hand. "Let's go."
One by one, they headed for the front door, and Regina turned to look at Alice, who immediately smiled at her. "It's alright. Go. I'll stay here and make sure that the kids are safe. Call me when it's over?"
"Of course," Regina promised before turning to walk out the door, only for her path to be blocked by Emma Swan. She furrowed her brows in confusion as she stared at the Savior.
"I'm sorry, Regina, but you can't come with us," Emma told her. "The only way you can hurt her is to hurt yourself, and I can't let you do that." Regina went to argue, but the blonde quickly cut her off. "I've got this. Stay here with Alice and protect the kids. Besides, I'll have Zelena as my backup if it really comes to that."
Knowing that she was right, Regina nodded in defeat. She sighed as she stepped back towards Alice, who reached out and rubbed her back to comfort her. "Good luck," she told the Savior. "Let us know how it goes."
"I will," Emma said before walking out the door to join the others.
Once the door had closed behind the group, Alice turned on her heel and began making her way toward the back door so that she could comfort Henry. She stepped out onto the back patio, where she found the boy sitting on the porch swing.
"Hey," Alice said, walking over towards him. "Mind if I sit with you?"
Henry shrugged in response.
She took that as a yes and sat down beside him, turning her head to look at the teenage boy. "Henry, I know that you're worried about your mom. I am, too. But this is what the Savior was meant to do. The prophecy said that she was born to defeat the Evil Queen. You have to trust that Emma can do this."
"But what if she can't?" Henry asked, his voice cracking as he turned to look at her. "She hasn't perfected her magic, not really. My mom is still helping her practice. She's not advanced enough. What if the Evil Queen uses that against her? What if . . . what if she dies because of me?"
"Oh, Henry," Alice frowned, scooting closer to the boy. She reached out, gently brushing away the tear that had fallen from his brown eyes. "This isn't your fault. Why would you even think that, anyway?"
"But it is my fault," Henry cried. "Emma wouldn't even be in Storybrooke if it wasn't for me. I'm the one who brought her here. And if she dies, it'll be all my fault."
"Henry," Alice said softly, her heart clenching as she watched more tears spill down his cheeks. She wrapped an arm around him, pulling him in close, and Henry leaned his head against her shoulder and nuzzled into the crook of her neck as he cried. "This is how things were always meant to be. You were supposed to bring the Savior to Storybrooke. She was supposed to break the curse and become the person she was always meant to be. And hey, without Emma, Teresa wouldn't be here either, right? You needed to meet your soulmate so that you two can save the world one day, too. So you see? Everything that has happened was always meant to happen. Our future has already been written. That's why I know Emma won't fail. It's her destiny to defeat the Evil Queen."
Henry remained silent, and she continued holding him, listening to his quiet cries mixing in with the sound of crickets chirping in the background.
Eventually, Alice backed away slightly so that she could look him in the eye. As he lifted his head, she reached out to wipe the tears away once more. "What do you say we go inside now, hmm? We can make some cocoa, play a game or watch a movie — whatever you want while we wait for Emma and the others to get back. How does that sound?"
"Okay," Henry nodded, using the sleeve of his flannel shirt to wipe away any trace of tears from his face. "Thanks, Alice, for everything."
"Of course, sweetheart," Alice replied, offering him a smile as she leaned in and brushed away his hair to place a tender kiss against his forehead. She then stood up from the porch swing and motioned for him to follow. He did, and she wrapped an arm around his shoulders as they made their way back inside the house.
Alice closed the door behind them, and she immediately caught the eye of Regina, who had obviously witnessed what had happened between her and Henry. Regina mouthed a thank you in her direction, which she returned with a small smile, before she clapped her hands together. "So, who's up for a cup of cocoa and a board game?"
Teresa knew that Alice had promised a distraction for Henry, and having noticed his puffy red eyes when he walked back inside, she was more than willing to help distract him from being worried about his mom. "I am," she said, raising a hand.
"Perfect," Alice said. "Henry, why don't you go with Teresa and pick out a game for us to play while your mother and I get started on the cocoa?"
The boy nodded, following Teresa toward the cabinet where his grandmother kept all of the board games. And once they had chosen one together, they headed into the kitchen and began setting the Monopoly board up so they could play. It wasn't long before Alice and Regina finished the cocoa, and as they all sat around the table and started playing, a genuine smile had found its way upon Henry's face as the boy was able to get his mind off the negative outcomes his mother could face in battle.
。。。
The dark streets of Storybrooke were baron, everyone having gone home to eat dinner and get some sleep after the long day they had. Emma Swan walked with Killian, David and Zelena, and when they had finally made it to Main Street, they made sure to remain alert, scanning the area for any sign of the Evil Queen.
As they passed the clock tower, they heard someone shouting for help. It was a woman, but none of them seemed to recognize her voice as they all glanced at each other with confused expressions. They weren't sure who it was, but the woman obviously needed help, so they quickly ran in the direction the voice was coming from, bursting through the front door of Granny's Diner to find a brunette woman bound to a chair with rope.
"Who the bloody hell are you?" Zelena asked.
"Please, you have to help me," the woman cried pleadingly.
Emma went to take a step forward, but Killian quickly reached out and grabbed her arm, preventing her from helping the woman. "Wait, Swan. We don't know who she is. This could be a trap."
The Savior nodded, knowing that he was right. She turned to face the woman, watching as she struggled against the ropes that she was bound with. "What's your name?" Emma asked her.
"Jasmine," she replied.
"I don't recognize you from any of the curses," Emma said, her fingers tightening around the pommel of the sword as she narrowed her eyes at the woman. "How did you get to Storybrooke?"
"I-I was in the Land of Untold Stories, and I came here with the others on the dirigible," Jasmine quickly explained. "Please, you have to help me, the Evil Queen has my—"
Suddenly, Jasmine was rendered silent, her lips suddenly smacking together mid-sentence as though someone had glued them shut. The woman's brown eyes widened in fear as she stared at them, and her words became muffled as she tried to open her mouth again to no avail.
"Ah, ah, ah," the Evil Queen said as she emerged from the back room, carrying a genie lamp in her hands. "Don't reveal the big surprise yet, Princess. I want the pleasure of doing that myself."
"Princess?" Emma said in confusion.
And then it hit them. Her name was Jasmine. She was a princess. Was this the Princess Jasmine from the story of Aladdin? And if so, did that mean Aladdin was here with her? Did they have to worry about Jafar showing up as well? And for what reason would the Evil Queen even need Princess Jasmine for? More importantly, what did the Evil Queen take from Jasmine? Was it the genie lamp? Or was it something else?
As the Evil Queen came up next to Princess Jasmine, Emma lifted the sword and went to strike her down, but immediately stopped when the Evil Queen thrust out her hand, causing Jasmine to splutter for breath as she began choking the princess with her magic.
"I can snap her neck before you get a step closer," the Evil Queen threatened.
Emma glanced from the Evil Queen to the helpless Princess Jasmine, watching as the woman continued to gasp for breath. The Savior clenched her jaw, knowing that she would never be able to live with herself if an innocent person died because of her. So, she took a step back, lowering the sword in defeat.
"That's better," the Evil Queen smirked as she watched the Savior back away from them. She lowered her hand, releasing Jasmine from the spell and allowing the Princess of Agrabah to breathe once more.
The Evil Queen then lifted the genie lamp, rubbing the side of it. A cloud of golden smoke instantly began spewing from the lamp, and when it cleared, a man with long brown hair was standing before them, the shackles of genie bound around his wrists and the clothing of one as well on his body.
"What the devil?" Killian said.
"Mmm, not the Devil," the Evil Queen smirked. "My genie."
As the genie glanced around the room, it was then he realized that the woman he loved was here. He looked at her with a mixture of shock and fondless before shaking his head. "Jasmine? What are you doing here?"
"I promised that I would find a way to free you from the lamp," Jasmine replied. "And that's a promise that I intend to keep, my love. But . . . things went a little sideways."
It was then that Emma and the others realized this must be the Aladdin, the True Love of Princess Jasmine. But neither Emma or David could recall Aladdin being a genie from what they know about their story. How did he end up a slave to the lamp? And how did the Evil Queen know them?
Aladdin turned his attention to the Evil Queen, his eyes narrowing into a glare when he realized that she was the reason that the woman he loved was tied up. "Release her. You have the lamp. There's no further reason to keep her hostage."
"Oh, I'll let your beloved Jasmine go, but only after you grant me a wish," the Evil Queen told him with a devilish grin. "I believe I have three wishes."
"Go ahead, wish," Aladdin said. "They always come with a price."
"That they do," the Evil Queen said as she began pacing the floor in front of Emma, who continued to glare at her. "Which is why I'm not going to wish for something for me. I'm going to give you something." The Savior looked back at her in confusion. "Something you've always wanted . . . something you confided about . . . to Regina long ago."
"Swan?" Killian asked, confused.
"You wished you weren't the Savior. So that's exactly what you're going to get," the Evil Queen grinned, causing Emma's eyes to widen as she recalled that exact conversation she had with Regina some time ago. "Genie of Agrabah, I wish . . . that Emma Swan's wish to have never been the Savior . . . be granted."
Emma looked at Aladdin pleadingly, but he shook his head while staring at her apologetically. "I'm sorry, Emma Swan. From one Savior to another, truly, I am. But . . . I have no other choice."
"No!" Emma shouted, rushing forward in an attempt to stop the wish from being granted.
But it was too late.
Aladdin thrust his hand forward, and he reluctantly granted the wish that Emma Swan had wished for long ago. As the genie of the lamp, he had no other choice. And in the blink of an eye, the woman was gone, and he was left with a heart of guilt as he watched the fellow Savior disappear, having been sent to a world in which she was never the Savior.
"Emma!" David shouted, wide-eyed.
"What happened?" Killian demanded. "Where did she go?!"
The Evil Queen smirked victoriously at them before she wordlessly disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke, taking the Genie of Agrabah with her.
。。。
They had brought Princess Jasmine with them back to Snow White and David's house, hoping that the woman could help them figure out where Aladdin may have sent Emma, considering she seemed to know a fair amount about genie lamps. Or at the very least give them ideas about where to even begin looking for Emma.
Once David and Killian had finished explaining what had happened to Emma, everyone had fallen into silence out of shock, unable to believe that this could have happened to the Savior, especially after they had only just found the sword. Now it felt as though they were back to square one again.
"Where did she go?" Henry asked worriedly.
Teresa frowned from beside him and immediately reached out, grabbing hold of his hand and giving it a gentle squeeze, hoping it would bring him some amount of comfort, as she wasn't sure what to say to him. He silently acknowledged her by squeezing back.
"We have no idea, Henry," was Killian's response.
"But we're trying to figure that out, right? Because I didn't stay behind for you to screw things up," Regina said, her frustration evident in the tone of her voice.
"Hey, take it easy on us," David defended. "It was the Evil Queen who did this."
"I know who it was," Regina said with a heated glare. "Maybe use some of that defensive energy to figure out where she is! You're her father. You must have some idea."
"Yeah, I am her father," David said with a pained look in his eyes. "That doesn't mean I know everything." He sighed before turning to face the pirate. "What about you, Hook? You live with her now. Did she give you any ideas?"
"If I had an idea, don't you think I would have bloody well mentioned it by now?" Killian snapped.
"How do you share a home with someone and not know their secrets?" David shouted.
Killian was quick to defend himself, shouting back sarcastically, "Because we don't stand around and talk about what happens when a bloody genie appears, mate!"
"Please, stop fighting," Jasmine cut in.
"Jasmine's right," Alice piped up. "We have to stop turning on each other and instead work together to figure out where Emma could have ended up."
Regina nodded in agreement. "Right now, we're doing exactly what the Evil Queen wants us to do. She said we would tear ourselves apart, and that's exactly what we're doing."
"So, what do we do now, then?" Teresa asked.
David ran a hand over his face, a sigh escaping his lips. "I don't know."
"The Evil Queen has thrown a lot of punches today," Regina said, a grin spreading across her face as an idea began to form in her brain. "But now . . . I think I know a way to throw one back."
David looked at her with curious eyes. "What are you thinking?"
"Genie's only answer to their master of the lamp," Regina explained. "And right now that's the Evil Queen. But what she hasn't realized is that we are the same person, which means that I am just as much the master of that lamp as she is."
Alice realized her plan immediately. "No," she said, shaking her head. "You can't."
"What?" David asked in confusion as he stared between them.
"She's going to make a wish," Alice explained, as though she could read Regina's thoughts. "To make Aladdin take her to the place that he sent Emma."
The pirate perked up. "Could that work?"
"Yes, it could," Jasmine confirmed. "But wishes come at a price, and yours may be that you won't be able to return."
"Which is exactly why it's a bad idea," Alice said with a stern expression directed toward the woman she loved. "Say you find Emma, then what? How do you plan on getting back to Storybrooke when we don't even know where the hell Emma was sent to?"
"Alice, I have to do this," Regina said reassuringly, her voice soft. "I'm the only one who can."
"I don't like this," Alice told her, tears building up in her eyes.
"I don't like it either," Regina admitted. "But we don't really have any other choice here, Alice. Emma is the Savior. She's the one prophesied to defeat the Evil Queen, not me. Not any of us. Maybe we could stand a chance against her if we even knew anything about Teresa and Henry's soulmate magic . . . or whatever the hell it is that they have." The teenagers simultaneously glanced at each other, and Teresa dropped his hand, moving away, suddenly uncomfortable as everyone stared at them. "But we don't. Teresa doesn't have her magic and we don't know a damn thing about their prophecy. Not like we do with Emma's. And besides, that sword vanished with Emma. So if I find her, I find the sword, which is the only thing we know of that can defeat the Evil Queen."
"She's right," Zelena agreed, causing Alice to look at her with an expression of betrayal, obviously having hoped that the former Wicked Witch would back her up. "Look, I don't like the thought of my sister getting lost in some other realm either, but it's the only plan we've got to go on right now. And it's a good plan. Regina can do this. I know she can."
Regina gave her sister a grateful look before she turned to face her son, who hadn't spoken since she suggested the plan. "Henry . . ."
"It's okay, mom," he said. "I know that you have to do this."
"You do?" Regina asked, surprised. She half expected him to walk out of the room like he had with Emma before, but he didn't. Whatever Alice had said to him on the porch swing had obviously worked like a charm.
Henry shrugged. "I don't want you to go," he admitted quietly, "but I understand that it's the only way that we can beat the Evil Queen and get Emma back."
Regina turned to face the woman she loved, preparing herself to convince Alice that she needed to do this. But it seemed as though Alice already understood, as the blonde shook her head, a singular tear cascading down her cheek.
"I swear to God, Regina, if you get stuck there . . ."
She stepped forward, reaching out to cup Alice's cheek, and the blonde leaned into her touch. "I will come back to you, Alice," she whispered lovingly, staring deeply into the blonde's blue eyes. "Just as you have always come back to me."
Alice nodded in response, unable to form any words.
"I will come back to all of you," Regina said, moving away from Alice to glance around the room at everyone. "And when I do, Emma will be right there beside me. And then we will defeat the Evil Queen once and for all."
One by one, everyone then wished Regina good luck, and they watched as the woman enveloped her son in a long hug before she left the house. As the front door closed behind her, they could only hope that her plan would work, and that soon, both Regina and Emma would be back in Storybrooke again.
。。。
It hadn't taken Regina Mills very long to figure out where the Evil Queen might have gone to celebrate her victory against Emma Swan. With the lights from her office at City Hall visible even from outside, it was obvious that only one person could be inside. Steering away from the sidewalk, Regina walked up the path and entered the building, heading straight for her office.
Once she was inside, Regina noticed that the Evil Queen was drinking what appeared to be an appletini that Aladdin had obviously made for her. "Having fun in my office?" she asked with a hint of sarcasm.
"Well, as a matter of fact, I was about to," the Evil Queen, her mischievous eyes flickering toward the genie standing behind her. She reached out, stroking his arm seductively, and he looked away as she winked at him, obviously not interested.
"Ew," Aladdin grimaced.
"I'm not here for your perversions," Regina said, getting straight to the point. "I'm here to get Emma back."
"Oh, well, good luck with that," the Evil Queen told her. "You're not getting a hold of this lamp." She sat down on the desk, picking up the lamp before setting it back down. "But even if you did, you can't undo wishes."
"Sadly true," Aladdin confirmed.
"Now . . . take a seat," the Evil Queen insisted, kicking out a chair with her boot and motioning for Regina to sit down. But when the woman made no move to sit, she pushed away from the desk and crossed the room, extending her appletini towards her, which Regina took if only to keep her entertained for another moment. "Have a drink. And give thanks where thanks is due."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Regina asked.
The Evil Queen glanced at Aladdin. "Be a dear and mix another, hmm?"
The villainous woman having threatened Jasmine's life twice already if he didn't do as she requested, Aladdin conceded, moving back towards the desk to mix the Evil Queen yet another appletini.
"Don't forget," the Evil Queen said as she walked around the desk. Regina crossed the room, coming to stand closer as her evil half continued. "I know you better than anyone, Regina." She chuckled, spreading her arms out. "I am you. And there was a time when all you wanted was to tear Snow and Charming apart and kick Emma Swan out of your town. And I . . . just did both." More laughter tumbled from her dark red lips as she reached out to grab the appletini Aladdin extended towards her. "A toast. To you. To me. To us."
A fake smile was plastered across Regina's face as she stared back at the Evil Queen, who had raised her glass, waiting for her to do the same. But Regina wasn't going to play along with her games. Instead of clinking glasses with her, she set it down onto the table and wiped the fake smile off her face.
The Evil Queen sighed heavily. "That's why you'll never be happy. You've won, and you can't even admit it. If you could, you'd see that victory feels luxurious." She plopped down in the chair, throwing her feet up on the desk with a grin.
"Yes, I . . . may not be able to get a hold of that genie lamp, but you're right. We are the same person, which means you're not the only master of the lamp."
The Genie of Agrabah smirked down at the Evil Queen as the realization dawned on her, any amount of amusement she once had instantly fading away. "No," she sneered.
"Yes," Aladdin grinned in relief, hoping that whatever wish Regina Mills made would allow him to bring the Savior back so that Emma Swan could fulfill the prophecy as she was always meant to by defeating the Evil Queen.
Regina tore her gaze away from her darker half, turning to stare at Aladdin. "Genie of the Lamp, I wish to be sent to the same place as Emma Swan."
"No!" the Evil Queen shouted.
"Your wish is my command, Master," Aladdin said. He thrust his hand forward, granting the woman's wish. She vanished in the blink of an eye, having been sent to a world in which Emma Swan was never the Savior.
The Evil Queen stood, slamming her hands down against the desk in frustration. "No!"
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
a/n: So, yes, this was the first proper introduction of Jasmine and Aladdin. I didn't like how they were portrayed in season six, so I've changed up their story completely. You didn't get to learn much about the changes I made in this chapter, but don't worry, you will soon. If you noticed, Aladdin said "from one Savior to another" and as far as everyone in Storybrooke is concerned, Emma is the only Savior in existence. Which means that they will have some questions for Aladdin once the chaos has settled
However, the entire Savior plot and the curse (which I have also changed) involved will not be featured in this book. Everything regarding the many Saviors of the realms, how many there are, and even the ones that I will be featuring in this series, will be a major plotline in book three. Not act three, book three. Yes, spoiler alert, there's another book that will eventually be added to the series. I'm really excited for that one!
Also, the next two chapters will focus on what is going on in the Wish Realm, with little scenes of Storybrooke here and there to show what happened after Regina made her wish. It will also feature a Wish Realm version of Teresa, who in that world was able to be raised by her parents as a Princess of Arendelle. Which is actually an AU fic that I hope to write one day as a little something extra for you ArchBeliever fans! Kind of like what I'm already doing with Darkened Arrow!
