AND MY BOOK "HOPE"
─────
Rain poured heavily down on the lovesick teenagers as they ran hand-in-hand towards what everyone has been calling the Charming's home. As soon they got inside, they wiped their feet on the mat and hung their rain coats on the coat rack outside, which had been put up by Snow when she grew irritated of the constant puddle of rain that formed on the floor after dripping from their coats.
Teresa tousled her damp locks back as she glanced toward her boyfriend. "You cold?" She asks, knowing that he wasn't as compatable with cold temperatures like herself.
Receiving a shake of the head, Teresa then began heading for the kitchen. With Snow's absence, the teenagers knew that she was most likely having lunch with David down at the station, so this would leave just them to lunch together.
Teresa pulled out the bread, while as Henry began rummaging through the fridge for sandwhich items. He gathered them in his arms, placing them on the counter beside Teresa, and together they began making lunch. Afterwards, they sat at the table where Teresa began discussing what she thinks is going to happen during the next Star Wars film Return of the Jedi.
Given that Empire Strikes Back left off with a surprise, where Luke lost his arm just like his father, and the Jedi Knight Mikah Thodis that had once been hidden on Dagobah was now captured by Boba Fett. Teresa was at least glad that Shmi was alright through the duration of the film, but seeing her reunite with her father did leave Teresa wondering if maybe, just maybe, Shmi could bring her father back and they could be a family.
"I still don't understand though," Teresa says.
"What?" Henry asks.
"Why would Shmi tell Cassian who she really is, but not Luke or Leia?" Henry gave a shrug as he peeled the crust off his sandwich. "I mean, if she did, then maybe they wouldn't go around kissing each other."
Henry smirked. "In their defense, they didn't know who they were kissing."
"That just further proves my point," Teresa says. "Shmi needs to tell them before the kissing continues. However, I'm at least thankful that Leia actually loves Han. Maybe that'll stop the kissing."
Henry smirked, his brain already full of the Star Wars knowledge unlike his girlfriends. "Guess you'll just have to watch and find out." A few moments of silence passed before he spoke again. "So I talked to Violet yesterday, and she says she's available to hang out with us to tonight at the arcade."
Teresa smirked. "You that desperate to lose, Mills?"
Henry raised his eyebrows in surpise. "If I remember correctly, I beat you nine out of ten."
"For now. Your mother's been teaching me a thing or two about arcade games. Apparently, Emma used to play them as a kid all the time."
"You're going to my mom for arcade intelligence?" Henry chuckles.
"No I'm going to the one handed pirate for arcade intelligence," Teresa smirks. Rising from her chair, she heads to the sink to wash her dish. "Of course I'm going to your mother for help. Why would I ask my competition for it? It's time that you buy the pizza and milkshakes, Mills."
After washing her dish, she turned around to face him. "What time? Because I promised Snow that I would drop Neal off with Emma since they're going on a date tonight."
"The usual time," Henry replies just as his phone rings. He dug into his jacket and pulled it out, finding it to be his adoptive mother. Immediately, he answers it and brings his phone up to the side of his face. "Hey mom."
Teresa leaned against the counter as she waited for him to finish speaking with his mother. After a few moments of what Teresa could only assume that was filled with Regina's voice in his ear, Henry eventually sighed.
"Alright," he says, "I'll be right there." That being said, he stuffed his phone into his pocket and rose up from the table, pushing his chair in. "Sorry, Teri, but I have to go."
The blonde frowned, wishing he could have stayed longer since it was raining and she would be bored, unable to go hunting. "So soon?"
"Apparently my text didn't go through because of the rain and I had her worried sick," Henry explains. "She thought with my not answering that something happened. It's best if I head back so she doesn't continue worrying."
Teresa nodded in understanding and pushed herself off the counter. "Yea, that's probably for the best." She followed him to the doorway, where she watched him pull on his usual jacket, plus a rain coat, before he turned to face her with a smile playing on his face.
Leaning in, he pressed a kiss to her lips that made her heart flutter. "I'll see you later?" His warm breath that hits her lips causes her to shiver.
Smiling, she replies. "Of course."
After sharing one more kiss that leaves their lips tingling and hearts racing, Teresa opens the door and Henry steps out into the rain, which has slowed only a little bit. For a few moments, Teresa simply watches him walk away with his head down and hood cast up until she frowns. Again, David's words were haunting her. It left her wondering if her and Henry will ever truly take a step forward into their relationship. Would he ever not ask Violet to join them on the weekend, where instead it could just be the two of them?
A sigh slipped passed her lips, which were still tingling from the kisses they shared, as she headed inside her home.
─────
That evening after Teresa dropped Neal off at Emma and Killian's home, she found herself sitting quietly at their usual table as Violet played her turn on the arcade machine. Henry was standing beside Violet, watching her play, the former Camelot resident currently in the lead between the three of them. This left Teresa by herself. The teenage archer was mixing around her strawberry milkshake as she watched them with a frown.
On ocassion, Henry would chuckle about something Violet or himself had said, which would cause his nose to crinkle and eyes to light up in amusement. Sometimes even Violet's arms would shake as she laughed with him. To someone else, it would appear as if they were a young couple in love and laughing away as the boyfriend showed the girlfriend how to play an arcade game. It made Teresa's stomach twist and turn. No longer did she harbor an appetite for the milkshake sitting in front of her.
Her mind, of course, began thinking the worse.
Teresa knew that Henry would never hurt her, that was clear to her, but as he stood next to Violet, laughing away and having the time of his life, he was doing just that. Her heart was clenching tightly in her chest with an unfamiliar emotion that she knew was jealously. Her corneas, even, were beginning to burn with unshed tears. Perhaps it was because David's words still hung over her head. Was Violet standing in the way of Henry ever asking her out on a date? Was Violet standing in the way of them every sharing something more than just movie nights and kisses?
Lately Teresa was beginning to wonder if Merlin had the right girl that was apparently destined to share the greatest love with the author, because as much as she loved Henry, it didn't seem as though they were boyfriend and girlfriend, despite the shared kisses between them that were filled with all sorts of emotions.
Yes, a strong emotion surges in her veins whenever she so much as thinks of him, but did he even feel the same way? She just wanted to know if she was the only one feeling this way. Because in her mind, Teresa imagines a full and happy life with Henry Daniels Mills. She can see herself actually marrying him, which is shocking to her, considering she has never imagined marrying someone. She can even see herself popping out a few kids that have heads full of dark hair and cocoa coloured eyes just like him.
Teresa closed her eyes, shaking her head to rid these heartbreaking thoughts from her mind. But when she opened her eyes, she found them chuckling again.
Sighing, Teresa stood from the table and slipped out the door. She wasn't in the mood to play an arcade tournament or even drink a milkshake. Right now, she just wanted to be alone.
The night was cold, but Teresa didn't mind as she walked along the sidewalk. When her phone vibrated in her pocket, she ignored it, knowing it was Henry. She knew he would worry, but he would worry even more if she answered it and he heard her broken voice that was lining with tears as each second passed.
The ache in her chest was ever so present, even when she found her way to the park and planted herself on the park bench. She watched the soft breeze blow gentle waves across the pond, and even watched the stars twinkle for what seemed like hours, until finally her tears fell, much like the rain had earlier that day.
The ache in her chest intensified with each sob that ripped from her throat. She curled herself into a ball, finding herself wanting her mother to be running her fingers through her hair and whispering to her that everything was going to be okay. Or even Robin to be brushing away her tears and giving her a hug that always seemed to cheer her up when she was younger and feeling down about having no parents.
