11 - LADY AND THE TRAMP

Storybrooke's most pink shop was the last place Teresa Holmes wanted to be on a Thursday afternoon. She wanted to be snuggling with Neal and watching one of his animated Disney movies in her fluffy socks right now but thanks to Snow and Emma, those plans we ruined when they forced her out of the house to go dress shopping for her and Henry's first date on Saturday. If she could, Teresa would much rather wear a pair of jeans and a nice shirt, but after Emma hinted that Henry had something special for them planned, Snow insisted that she had to dress for such an occasion, which lead to this moment.

Teresa Holmes stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of the aisle, feeling sick to her stomach with all the pink clothes; the bright color suffocating her. She prayed that Snow wouldn't force her into one of them. God, she prayed.

"How about this one?" Snow White was holding up a satin pink dress for her to see, and the sight of it brought a look of disgust onto the teenager's face.

Teresa's nose crinkled up in disgust. "Ew."

Snow gave her a look and sighed as she placed the dress back on the rack before continuing her search. After a moment, she held up another dress, this one a more magenta pink that cinched at the waist with a silver bow. Teresa gave the same reaction, causing the raven-haired woman to sigh louder than before, irritated that she had held up at least a dozen dresses already.

"At this rate, you will not be wearing any dress to your date if you keep disliking every single one I find."

"That's the point." Teresa stared over the rack at her with a smirk. "I don't want to wear a dress."

"Emma said that Henry has something special for you guys planned."

Teresa rolled her eyes. "I know, Snow. But come on ─ pink? When have I ever worn pink?"

"She makes a fair point," Emma piped up from where she stood at a discounted rack, swiping through each article of clothing for something nice that would fit her son's girlfriend. Henry had told both her and Killian what he has planned for their first; The blonde would make sure she kept her promise to her son that his girlfriend dressed appropriately, as even Henry knew of Teresa's love for jeans.

"But Teri!" Snow grinned. "Pink would look so beautiful on you."

"I disagree," Teresa uttered.

Snow moved away from the pink dresses and toward another rack, patting Teresa on the arm as she walked by. "Don't be such a Debby Downer. You can suck it up and wear a dress for one evening."

Teresa raised a brow and turned around to face her friend. "I'm not being a Debby Downer, I'm just stating facts. I don't want to wear a dress, let alone a pink one."

"One evening won't kill you."

"It might," the teenager argued, causing Snow to throw her a quick look.

Emma smirked over her shoulder at them. "I bet you're glad you didn't have to argue over dresses with me, now."

Snow smiled sadly toward her daughter, and suddenly Emma felt guilty for saying what she said. "I would have given anything to watch you grow, Emma, you know that."

"I know, sorry. It just slipped out," Emma apologized, and her mother said nothing but gave her daughter a soft smile. Emma accepted the smile as a sign of forgiveness and turned around to keep searching through the rack of clothes, eventually coming upon one that most definitely fit the archer's style. She held it up with a questionable expression, asking, "What about this one?"

Teresa and Snow turned toward the Savior and their eyes fell upon a navy blue dress with silky mid-length sleeves that flowed a little past the knees, paired with a white cardigan made with similar material. The archer tilted her head to the side as she eyed the dress with uncertainty. She didn't want to one wear, but at least this one wasn't pink. That was a plus.

"I mean... it's not terrible, for a dress."

"Try it on!" Snow insisted.

Before Teresa could even protest, the raven-haired woman was already stepping forward and taking the dress from her daughter's hand and turning to shove it into Teresa's arms. The archer grumbled something under her breath as she reluctantly made her way toward the wall of dressing rooms to try it on.

She stepped inside and peeled off her clothes before slipping into the dress. It flowed to her knees and wasn't too tight, yet not entirely too loose either. Teresa bit her lip as she stared at her reflection, soaking in her appearance. The last time she wore a dress was in Camelot, during a dance she shared with Henry at the ball King Arthur threw in their honor. Back then her dress was horrendous, or at least she thought so, but this one was different. It didn't look so bad on her, not that she would admit it out loud.

"Almost done in there?" She heard Snow call out from beyond the blue curtain.

The platinum-blonde let out a short sigh as she stepped out of the tiny fitting room. Almost instantly, Snow gasped and one of the widest grins Teresa has ever seen began to spread across her face, causing the teenager to raise a brow.

"It's just a dress, Snow, calm down," she laughed.

"Oh hush! I'm allowed to be emotional right now. You never wear dresses so just... just shut up and let me have this moment."

Teresa and Emma's eyes met as they burst into fits of laughter, watching as Snow White began to wipe away her tears while breathlessly laughing along with them.

"This is it. This is the one. You look so beautiful, Teresa," Snow said when her tears had stopped flowing and their laughter died out.

Teresa bit her lip, glancing down at the dress that was perfectly hanging off her body. She had to admit that it was comfortable; far better than the material she wore in Camelot, despite King Arthur adorning them in the loveliest of dresses his kingdom offered. "I don't know..."

Emma was quick to agree with her mother. "Henry will think you look beautiful."

Teresa felt her cheeks grow hot at the mention of her boyfriend. It was true, he probably would; she could just picture the look on his face right now. He'd probably stumble for words or blush something terrible from staring at her too long and getting embarrassed. No doubt she would join him in the blushing fest.

She heaved a sign of reluctance and began trudging back into the dressing room. "Fine, but only if it will get you two off my back."

。。。

That evening after dinner, Teresa joined Violet for a walk in the park with her friend's new dog, Lady. The archer had smirked when she heard the dog's name, as just last week she had watched Lady and the Tramp with Neal. The small American Cocker Spaniel looked just like the one from the movie which could only mean she was from the Enchanted Forest and not just some stray that wandered into town by Hyde or from the town line. The dog was adorable and very proper in the way she walked, with her held up high and her tail wagging as she watched the ducks play in the pond.

"What made your dad finally give in?" Teresa asked.

For at least a week, Violet has been pestering her father about getting a pet other than the horse they already have. Teresa didn't know Violet's father well as she usually just offered a wave or a quick exchange of words, yet she knew that he was a headstrong man difficult to crack with the way Violet always spoke of him, which made her curious about what finally made him give in.

"I'm not sure, really. Not that I mind, though. She's adorable, is she not?" Violet grinned down at her new pup, happiness glistening in her dark brown eyes.

Teresa nodded in agreement. "She is."

Violet lifted her head and her curious eyes met landed on her best friend. "Have you ever had a dog, Teresa?"

The platinum-blonde frowned. "Unfortunately not. I didn't know what a dog was until I was at least eleven and ran into one in the Enchanted Forest. He was beautiful, but his owner was quick to claim him. I can remember being frightened of him before he licked my hand. After that, I loved dogs, but could never have one of my own."

"I'm sorry."

Teresa shrugged. "It doesn't really matter anymore. I'm happy with the way my life turned out."

Violet smirked. "I would say." She bumped Teresa's shoulder with her own. "Henry told me about the date, you know. How do you feel? Are you nervous? Do you know what you will wear?"

Teresa laughed at her friend's sudden enthusiasm. If she had a tail, it would wiggle just like Lady's. She shook her head in amusement as she tucked some of her platinum-blonde hair behind her ear. "Snow and Emma took me shopping today for a dress, which was absolute torture, as you can imagine." Violet giggled. "And I mean... I guess maybe I am a little nervous. It's my first date and not just with Henry either. It's my first date ever."

"Really?" Violet's face displayed surprise, as she figured her friend would have been on a date before.

Teresa nodded. "I never got around much in the Enchanted Forest," she explained vaguely.

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I've never been a date before either."

"That's hard to believe."

"It's true, though! Nobody in Camelot ever asked to court me because my father was too overly protective all the time. He thought no boy was ever good enough for me, so every boy stayed away."

"Well, what about a boy in Storybrooke?"

At her words, Violet blushed and Teresa gaped at her reaction, further embarrassing the brunette girl. "Oh well, now I have to know who it is."

Violet averted her gaze, her cheeks turning a shade of pink and a wide smile creeping onto her face as she spoke. "His name's Christopher Robin, Henry and I got to school with him and he's very handsome."

"And has this Christopher Robin asked you on a date?" Teresa pried for more.

Violet sighed. "I'm honestly not even sure he knows that I exist."

Before Teresa could reply, they were suddenly being bombarded by another dog who caused Lady to bark her little head off. This dog's fur was many shades of gray with a wagging tail and a broken leash dragging across the sidewalk behind him.

"Oh, my!" Violet gasped.

"Tramp!"

The teenage girls glanced up from the two dogs that were sniffing each other to find a boy their age running towards them. Violet let out a small gasp and turned to her friend for help, whispering, "Oh God, it's him!"

"Tramp, come back here!"

Teresa's eyes widened as she glanced toward the boy running towards them. He wore jeans and a maroon jacket, paired with some sneakers and his tanned skin complimented his hair, the color of it trapped between a shade of blonde and brunette. She was unsure which shade it would be. "That's Christopher?"

"Yes!" Violet whispered. Her breathing had changed as she began to panic, her eyes filling with anxiety.

"Just act natural," Teresa instructed, just as Christopher Robin had come to a stop in front of them. Now that he was close enough, Teresa noticed that his eyes were brown, speckled with gold and fading freckles danced on his flushed cheeks.

The teenage boy let out a puff of air as he grasped his dog's broken chain, pulling him away from the two girls with an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry, he just got away from me." His eyes then fell on Violet and a look of realization crossed his features. "Do I know you from somewhere?"

Violet blushed, a smile curving onto her face. "We ─ um ─ we got to school together."

"Oh yeah. You're Violet, right?"

Violet's stomach fluttered with the fact that her crush knew her name when there she had been, thinking he didn't know she even existed. The brunette lifted a hand and tucked some of her dark brown hair behind her ear before lifting her eyes to find his once more. "Yeah, I'm... I'm Violet."

With a smile, the boy held out his hand. "I'm Christopher Robin, but you can call me Chris. I mean if you want to, that is."

Violet shook it. "It's nice to meet you, Chris."

Teresa was smirking as she observed the two. She counted the seconds that went by and amusement danced in her eyes when she hit ninety seconds of full-on handshaking and lovesick expressions.

Christopher pulled his hand away and cleared his throat. He shifted his eyes toward Teresa's and he offered the platinum-blonde a smile. Violet was quick to introduce her friend to her crush. "This is ─ um ─ this is my best friend, Teresa."

"I don't think I've seen you around much," Christopher stated with furrowed eyebrows.

"I don't go to school," Teresa replied.

The boy nodded. "Well, that explains it then." He glanced back toward Violet with a nervous smile and tucked one hand into the pocket of his maroon-colored jacket. "So Violet do you ─ um ─ do you, maybe... I mean if you're not too busy... maybe we could do something together sometime?"

Teresa could have sworn she saw Violet's heart fly out of her chest as the girl's face broke out into a wide and nervous grin. "Yeah, yeah that would be nice, Christopher. I would love to."

"Really?" Christopher sounded breathless, almost as if he couldn't believe a girl as beautiful as Violet would go on a date with him. "Okay. Yeah, so it's... it's a date then?"

"It's a date."

Christopher grinned. "Well, I better get going. I've been chasing Tramp here for at least ten minutes now and my parents will get worried if I'm not back by the time supper is ready. See you around, Teresa."

"Bye," Teresa replied, and when Christopher left, the platinum-blonde chuckled despite herself at the irony. "It's destiny."

Violet blinked, tearing her lingering eyes away from Christopher's back. "Huh?"

"You're kidding, right? Your dog is Lady and his dog is Tramp, the signs couldn't be more obvious."

"What do you mean?" Violet stared at her in confusion, not understanding what their dogs had to do with it.

"It's a movie about these two dogs called Lady and the Tramp," Teresa explained. "I watched it with Neal, it was all right."

Now that Teresa had cleared it up, the knowledge caused Violet to blush. "Do you really believe that? Christopher and I, I mean?"

"Well, other than that your dogs are Lady and Tramp, let's start with how the both of you were blushing, smiling, lovesick fools that shook hands for ninety seconds."

"We did not shake hands for that long," Violet argued.

"I counted."

A/N: Wow I'm back with another update! Go me! I hope you guys liked this chapter as much as I did because I've just been dying to share Christopher Robin with you. Violet really needs and deserves some happiness so I couldn't help but throw him into the mix. Also, the whole Lady and the Tramp thing was completely inspired by Pongo's existence. Other than him we never saw any dogs in Storybrooke. Where are they all??? There will be plenty more cameos folks!
