Seeing Blue
The light blue sky was bright and clear without any overcast clouds in sight, it was another hot summer morning as the temperatures rose, the cicadas chirping throughout the sunny day.
Luenniel was dressed in casual clothes, a polo sharing the same color as the sky matched with pitch-black jeans and sneakers. It was his go-to date look as he awaited at the local park.
Coming in from another direction, Luenniel sees a tall guy with pulled-back tan brown hair, he wore a long-sleeved shirt despite the hot temperature and ripped jeans that probably gave up with how developed his quads are.
Other people gawked as the mystery person walked past them, but he was heading towards Luenniel and only then he realized that this person was his date for today.
"Hey, I'm Kristoffer. I'm guessing you're Luenniel from the dating app?" The mystery guy greeted, his voice was deep and husky.
Luenniel stared into his flame blue eyes that glinted brightly, his confident smile on his face, and his cool demeanor. The appearance of the person before him caught him breathless. He almost felt like he wanted to be swept off his feet.
Luenniel almost lost focus and spaced out as he gawked at Kristoffer before saying, "Yeah. It's nice to meet you, shall we go then?"
...
Now, as the sun begins its descent to the west, a familiar figure approaches. A tall guy with a well-built physique. A set of flame blue eyes that looked intense.
Unlike in the past, Luenniel almost rolled his eyes as the person approached. He noted Kristoffer's arrival, sizing him up. He noticed the other boy's hair increasing in length, now a few strands came out of place from his usual pulled-back hairstyle, and yet he still pulls off the look.
"Hey, so this is the school you transferred to huh?" Kristoffer spoke with his usual handsome voice.
Luenniel's knees almost buckled, he hasn't heard that voice for quite a while. He felt the weakest whenever he heard that voice.
"What business do you have here?" Luenniel rebutted as he tried to hide his weakness. "I told you, we're over. So you shouldn't have any business with me."
Suddenly, Kristoffer rushes in and forcing Luenniel to take a few steps backward until he hits a wall. Kristoffer plants his arm to the wall past Luenniel's shoulder making a loud thud.
"Oi, what the hell are you spouting?" Kristoffer emphasized his husky voice as he growled at Luenniel.
Luenniel stared back completely at Kristoffer, he noticed that the other boy's flame blue eyes that's usually filled with confidence was now filled with anger. The mouth he was familiar with quivered and arched downward into a frown.
Despite all of this, Luenniel steeled his nerves and didn't back down as stared back at Kristoffer. Footsteps approached their direction and this distracted Kristoffer just for a second, this was a sufficient distraction as Luenniel immediately pushed off the tall brown-haired boy from his wall pin.
As Luenniel successfully pushes off Kristoffer, he looks towards where the footsteps came from only to feel further disappointment in himself as the last person he wanted to see had just come to this awkward-looking scene.
The footsteps that approached them just at the convenient time was none other than another familiar boy with crew-cut hair. Dalteon had just arrived at the scene, judging by the shocked expression on his face he probably saw the whole thing.
Dalteon hurried over where Nicque had told him where she last saw Luenniel. He didn't know what came over him but he sprinted there at full speed because he had a bad feeling about it.
As he approached the back of the school building there he saw a tall figure with tan-brown hair pinning down Luenniel to the wall, but immediately Luenniel pushes the boy off.
"I-I'm sorry for intruding, I was just looking for Luenniel..." Dalteon's voice got weaker as he uttered those words.
Dalteon looked at Kristoffer as it was the first time seeing him. They were almost the same height and had a similar build, though Kristoffer put off an intense presence as he started right back at Dalteon.
Kristoffer scoffs, "Ha, this is the level you have stooped to? What a joke, I'm leaving." He said as he turned his back and walked away.
Dalteon immediately goes over to Luenniel, "Are you okay?" He asks with concern as he offered his hand.
Luenniel stood up on his own and dusted himself off, "Thanks, you came at the right time."
"So who was that guy? He didn't seem to come from this school." Dalteon asked boldly.
"He was just..." Luenniel paused as if carefully choosing his words, "an acquaintance."
Of course, Dalteon wasn't convinced by this answer but he looked at Luenniel who wasn't even looking at him. He decides to let it go and let his other concerns come up first.
Luenniel chose his following words carefully, as Dalteon looked into his deep sea blue eyes looking for answers. But he could only see embarrassment and a hint of shame.
"I owe you one, thanks," Luenniel said with sincerity as he lightly pulled on Dalteon's clothes.
Dalteon flushed but he tried to hide it as he said, "Well that's what friends are for. Don't sweat it."
"You know, you should come home with us today," Dalteon suggested.
There was complete silence between them for almost a minute until Luenniel finally broke the silence.
"It's alright, I can take care of myself. I wouldn't want to cause you or your friends any trouble." Luenniel scratched his head in embarrassment as he looked away from Dalteon.
Luenniel suddenly speaks again, "Anyways, thanks again for today, Dalteon. I guess I'll see you next week."
With that, Luenniel quickly walked away without Dalteon giving himself any chance to say anything else.
Dalteon cursed at his stupid idea, he ruffled his short hair as he got frustrated with himself. He shouldn't have gotten greedy, especially when he just claimed to be friends.
Crestfallen by the events, Dalteon heads back to the classroom where both Terrence and Rina, who was back class officer duties, were waiting for him.
"You took quite a while," Terrence commented, though he didn't seem to mind.
Dalteon immediately apologized, "Sorry to make you wait, I got sidetracked on my way back."
"Let's go home guys, those tests really did a number on me," Dalteon spoke again, leaving no room for questioning.
"Yeah, I'm just glad it's over right? I've been dying to play some video games." Terrence said with a tired look on his face.
"Mhm. Let's go home then." Rina concurred to the two as she stood up.
Dalteon walked behind Rina and Terrence as they compared notes about the test, he could've joined in but he had other pressing matters in mind.
Dalteon wondered who that other guy was. Why did he feel insulted on his face as he left? Most importantly, why did he pin Luenniel down the wall if they were just acquaintances?
The sun by now has almost finished its dip down from the horizon painting the sky into a pool of black and blue, it was beautiful as Rina and Terrence watched the moon rise while holding hands in the dark, but Dalteon seemed to have his head somewhere over the clouds.
