Forewarning
It was the middle of the day with the sun blazing in the sky. The classroom was humid because of the heat, thus it made it hard for Dalteon to focus in class. So instead of trying to listen to the lecture, he decides to look around at how others were faring in this heat.
It seemed like the other students were having a hard time too, a familiar figure was Terrence who was dozing away, not a new sight for him. Class representative, Nique Whyte was also feeling the heat as she kept on wiping her continuous sweat off. Top of the class, Rina, was stoic as she sat up straight and still on her chair though from all the years he knew her, he could tell she was struggling too.
There are a few more others that Dalteon saw but he finally shifts his attention to his seatmate. He carefully looks over at Luenniel, and to his surprise, it seemed like the other boy was doing fine. He wasn't listening to the discussion but he was happily playing on his phone, tapping away while their teacher continued with the lecture.
Classes continued like this until lunch break, but unlike the usual Dalteon and his friends decided to have lunch in the classroom because it was too sweltering hot to go to the rooftop.
Dalteon looked over to his side as he was about to ask Luenniel to join them for lunch be he was already at the door as he talked to the other girls, Eri and Nique.
Luenniel got up from his seat as he was heading to the cafeteria, Eri waited for him by the door. They started eating together because she was his first friend in class. As he and Eri talked about lunch, Nique suddenly joins in the conversation.
"Lunch at the cafeteria? Can I join you two?" Nique walks up to Luenniel and Eri who were by the door.
"Sure Class Rep. We were just heading there now." Luenniel promptly answered, looking over at Eri if she was uncomfortable.
"Thanks so much, let me get my wallet and we'll head together," Nique says before going back to the classroom.
Luenniel, Eri, and Nique got seated on the wide table where they set down their food. They began eating shortly after but Luenniel decided to make small talk during lunchtime.
Luenniel immediately stated as he took in a spoonful of curry, "I think this is the first time I saw you eat here in the school cafeteria, Nics."
"Yes. I forgot my homemade lunch at home but I also wanted to see how you were doing," Nique answered as she carefully ate and then continuing, "It seems like I had myself worried for naught since you seem to be faring well."
As the group of three were chatting as they ate another group of girls came onto the table. Three girls wearing make-up and uniforms that clearly violated the school dress code with the sleeves cuffed in and their skirts cut too short.
Suddenly, the girl with caramel-colored long hair and an unhealthy amount of make-up tips over her drink suddenly and its contents spill on Eri's head.
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry 'bout that. I'm so careless, are you okay?" The caramel-colored girl said with a condescending tone.
"Chelle..." Nicque muttered her name as Luenniel could barely hear.
Immediately, Luenniel got the gist of what was happening. He shot immediately shot a glare at Chelle as she twirled her curly caramel hair, clearly with no remorse. He got up from his seat and slammed his hands so loud at the table that it caught the attention of the crowd.
Chelle noticed Luenniel's glare and the crowd looking over to them wondering what was happening, then she immediately offered a handkerchief to the soaking wet Eri and left in a hurry with her clique.
"Thank you so much, Luenniel," Eri said quietly, the crowd immediately losing interest as Chelle had left.
"Luenniel, you can go back first. I'll let Eri borrow my gym clothes for now." Nicque said and Luenniel immediately understood.
Dalteon stared at the doorway in the classroom, he was already back on his seat and so was Terrence and Rina. A second later he sees a familiar figure with blond-black hair, Luenniel had come back from the cafeteria but he was alone and wore a grim look on his face as he entered.
As Luenniel entered the room he scanned around and saw Chelle and her clique were all chatting away without a second thought for Eri. He was about to march over there when suddenly someone grabs his arm.
Nicque had suddenly grabbed ahold of Luenniel's arm, she stopped him from his angry march towards Chelle.
"Why are you stopping me?" Luenniel angrily whispered at Nicque in frustration.
Nicque shook her head, "Nothing good will come out if you face her head-on. Please, give me time and I'll handle this."
"Alright." Luenniel calmed down and just walked to his table and kept his head down because he was frustrated that he couldn't do anything.
Dalteon wondered what was happening as he saw the whole scene unfold before him, he couldn't follow what they meant but he was worried about Luenniel.
The afternoon classes continued but for some reason the quiet girl, Eri Enho came into the classroom in different clothes. She and Nicque explained to the teacher and apologized.
This left Dalteon wondering if it had anything to do with Luenniel's grim expression earlier. But he knew that he wasn't as nosy to poke around what had happened to them during lunchtime since those three were involved together.
Nicque and Eri head to the bathroom as she gave her the gym clothes.
"I'm sorry, again." Nicque apologized as she handed over the clothes.
Eri shook her head, "It's not your fault, but I'm worried about Luenniel. He seemed mad earlier."
"How could he not be?! That was unbelievable, I was wondering why nothing happening and the moment I come along this happens?" Nicque exasperated as she waved her hands in the air.
"Please, check on Luenniel for me. He might do something reckless." Eri said softly, Nicque sighed and hurried out of the bathroom.
Eri had gotten back to the classroom in gym clothes that was a grey tracksuit. She fixed herself up in front of the mirror, wiping her glasses before wearing it. She was scared of what had happened in the cafeteria, especially since Nicque was involved again.
Eri knew that she had to go back quickly so she could let Luenniel know she was okay. After all, he seemed really angry earlier at the cafeteria. But she knew it all together already that getting involved with Chelle would cause nothing but trouble.
The class had already started as Eri stepped in late, she immediately saw Luenniel who kept his head down, and his seatmate, Dalteon who seemed to be looking over him with worry in his eyes.
The teacher calls out Eri as she steps forward and apologizes for being late, Nicque also stands up and explains the situation on her behalf. Then, class carried on as usual afterward in the dark and cloudy afternoon.
Soon enough class has ended, and Eri wanted to look for Luenniel and thank him but to no avail. The blond-black haired boy had disappeared like thin air as soon as classes were over.
