Me and Dodger walked into a house, in the dining area, there was a big man and some more children eating.

"Dodger, you're a little late for dinner," the man said.

"Sorry Fagin sir, do you have room for one more?"

"What?"

He showed me to Fagin.

"A little girl, a girl here at Sikes' place?"

"Yes sir."

"I don't know if Bill will allow a girl here. Well, we'll see. Have a seat young lady."

I sat down next to a cute blonde boy.

"Hello," I said to him.

He smiled.

"That's Oliver Twist."

"What's your name?" Fagin asked me.

"Lettie Lamb."

"Lettie, pleased to meet you."

He introduced me to the rest of the kids. Fagin poured me a bowl of soup.

"My famous onion soup, enjoy."

"Thank you sir."

"Oh, a proper young lady, that's the way to respect your elders."

I nodded. Then, a man and a woman walked in. They were laughing their heads off, possibly tipsy.

"Evening," the woman said.

"Evening Nancy," Fagin said.

"I smell that soup of yours!" The man said.

"You sure do Bill and plus, we got a new kid here."

Bill and Nancy walked to us.

"A new one eh, let me take a look at em."

"This is Lettie, Mr. Sikes," Dodger said.

"A girl in my gang? Girls are more innocent looking than boys, I'll tell you that Dodger."

"Will you accept her?" Fagin asked.

"I'll think about it, for the time being, feed the little girl."

"Yes Bill."

We continued to eat as Bill walked away. Nancy sat by me.

"Hi Lettie," she said in a soft spoken voice.

"Hello Mrs. Nancy."

"Oh she's proper, you can just call me Nancy sweetie."

"Alright Nancy."

"Good, I'll show you where you sleep after dinner."

She showed me where I slept and we went to bed.
