"Why does does your camera roll have so many pictures of me?" AU - Lipsoul
"Nice job, guys! We'll continue tomorrow."
I nodded and smiled, pretending like I totally wasn't tired at all.
Heejin nodded approvingly at me and I walked as fast as I can without seeming suspicious out of the dance studio.
Back upstairs at the dorms, I flopped on the couch, throwing an arm over my eyes before I get bored of that.
Meaning I rested for about two minutes.
In those two minutes, a couple people came to sit next to me. I was really too tired to pay attention to see who.
I pulled my phone from my hoodie pocket.
Scrolling through my photos, I couldn't hold back a giggle.
60% was selfies with other members, 20% was LOONA, 10% was memes, 5% screen recordings, 5% Yeojin stealing my phone and taking selfies, and 100% was pictures of Jinsoul, because my phone is twice the phone that anyone's phone will ever be and I have WAY too many pictures.
I smiled fondly at a picture of Jinsoul early in the morning with messed up hair and heavy eyelids while Jinsoul herself sat right next to me, chattering my ear off.
"Chaewon is super obvious and Hyejoo is by all means NOT subtle but Chaewon understands the situation when Hyejoo is just sitting on her oblivious butt and blushing at her I don't really know they sorta remind me of Jiwoo and Yves oh man, remember what it took to get them together Vivi unnie literally had to smush them together while Haseul unnie screamed at them how disgustingly cute they were that was so funny actually have you seen how close Yerim is sitting with Yeojin right now and of course Hyunjin and Heejin are probably making out in a corner somewhere..." Jinsoul continued her rant looking super hot in her red flannel but adorable swinging her legs back and forth underneath her chair. I turned my phone off, pulled my hair on to one shoulder, and gave Jinsoul my full attention while still maintaining my fake "seriously?" face.
That is, until she looked up at me worriedly and asked if she was talking too much. And as much as I wanted to insult her and be all cool about it, I shook my head quickly and ensured her that it was fine.
As embarrassing as that was, the bright smile she gave me made it worth it.
We talked for a few more minutes until Jiwoo ran in - pulling Sooyoung behind her - and yelled about how it was dinner time. And I took the black phone closest to me and stuck it in my pocket.
"I didn't know what you guys wanted, so I just ordered everything. Sorry."
Hyunjin snorted at Haseul's apology. "Are you kidding? The more the merrier. Food is life."
"More food isn't a problem, Haseul unnie." Yerim added, and Haseul smiled.
We all inhaled our food, as we had just "enjoyed" a nice, long, three hour dance practice a few hours before. The conversation flowed easily as it always did with the LOONA girls. Chaewon had her chair much closer to Hyejoo than it usually was. Heejin squeezed Hyunjin's hand under the table. Vivi and Haseul we're probably discussing other things they could do to keep up the spirits of the other girls.
I felt right at home.
We all brought our dishes to the sink and Yeojin took her turn doing the dishes after approximately twenty minutes of complaining.
Jinsoul and I sat back at our place on the couch as everyone else settled back.
I opened the phone in my pocket. Jinsoul was already scrolling through stuff on hers.
But as soon as I unlocked it, I knew where I had made my mistake.
Desperately hoping I closed out of photos before I shut my phone, I turned to Jinsoul.
Her face was like a cherry.
Crap.
"Well." She giggled nervously. "I think this is your phone?"
"Yeah." My remark fell flat.
I swallowed, taking back my phone. Holy screw on a stick this is not good.
I desperately try to say something to salvage the situation.
"You have a great face?"
Situation = not salvaged.
Situation = blown up in my face.
"Th... thanks?" She mumbled from behind her hands.
"Gosh, it's almost like you actually appreciate my presence." She smirks. "Do you liiiiike me?" She says playfully, sing-song resonating teasingly in her throat.
She was joking. I knew that.
But my mouth went dry.
I couldn't breathe.
Every curse I'd ever learned flashed through my brain.
Panic mode? Panic mode.
"YAH! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" I yell. "I DON'T LIKE YOU, WHY WERE YOU EVEN LOOKING THROUGH MY PHOTOS IF YOU KNEW THE PHONE WAS MINE? I DON'T LIKE YOU JINSOUL - YOU TALK TOO MUCH AND YOU'RE CONSTANTLY BOTHERING ME! I DON'T LIKE YOU!" I yelled, not sure whether I was trying to convince her or myself.
And then I looked at Jinsoul's face,
She looked absolutely terrified.
No no no no.
She looked down, hair covering her face.
I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry.
Her bottom lip quivered as the first tear spilled out of her eye.
I didn't get to see much more, though, because as soon as her tears came flooding out, she ran upstairs to her room.
And that's when I knew that I had made an even bigger mistake than before.
Ignoring the looks of worry on the other member's faces, I ran upstairs to Jinsoul. I halted right outside the door, trying to block out her heartbreaking sobs and whimpers, as I thought about what I could say to fix this.
I slowly swung the door open, making a soft creaking sound. Jinsoul was curled up on her bed, face red and crying enough tears to double the size of the ocean.
"G-go away." Her voice cracked on the last syllable.
I, in fact, did not go away.
I silently moved over to the place where she was sitting and looked down at my lap.
After a few minutes of awkward silence filled with the sounds of Jinsoul's sniffling, I whispered, "I'm sorry." As a sort of automatic response, Jinsoul whispered back, "I-it's f-f-fine."
It was not fine.
"It's not fine, Jinsoul unnie. That was really not nice of me. So I really am sorry. I didn't mean anything that I said, okay? You don't talk too much and I don't think you're annoying. I like having you around, even if you do talk more than the average human being. And I shouldn't have been so made because you looked at my photo library." I rock on the balls of my feet.
"And I... I actually do like you. I appreciate your presence. I like you a lot, Jinsoul. So... I'm just really sorry."
I stood up to leave, but Jinsoul grabbed my wrist. "Stay, jerk."
Maybe not the reaction I expected coming from that face with those gorgeous, tear filled eyes of hers, but I decided that I would stay, if nothing, to make up for being an idiot.
I sat back down, and as soon as I did, Jinsoul let all of her tears out.
She cried on my shoulder and I held her around her waist. It made me feel taller than her. Not something one feels a lot around Jung Jinsoul.
Eventually, the streams turned into a mere trickle. She giggled a little into my shoulder.
I just held her.
