"Don't look at me like that." Mom says, pain spreading my cheek as she places her bare hand on my fragile skin. I tilt my head and look at her, confusion flooding me. This is the first time she hit me like this. She sometimes gave me a hit on my bump when I was little but now she does it with no reason.
"I said don't look at me like that." Her voice rings in my ears, as my head spins with a second hit with her bare hands. I touch my sore cheek and look up at mom. My eyes grow big when I see her expression. Her eyes is filled with rage and her eyebrows creased together.
I immediately let my face expressionless. I try not to frown or smile in any way and look at mom with big eyes. I feel my eyes blinking a few times, tears falling down my cheek.
Mom walks away without saying another word. I shake my head in confusion and fall to my knees. What did I do.
I jump when I hear dad burst through the front door. I walk toward him and give him a long lasting hug. I try to hold in the tears from falling down my eyes. Dad stroke my hair and hugs me back.
"Why, hello darling." He pulls back and looks into my eyes. "Want to tell me, what's bothering you."
I shake my head and look down, not wanting him to see the tears forming in my eyes. I lay my head on his shoulder and sob all my tears out. I don't know why I'm crying. It was such a big shock what my mom did, I just couldn't handle .
"What's the matter, honey." He's voice is filled with concern. He lifts my chin with his fing tips, and trace on my cheek where mom slapped me.
"What's this?" His eyebrows crease, as he admire my skin.
"Mom, s-slapped m-me." I look down, unable to look at him in the eyes. Immediately, he let me go and walk towards the kitchen where mom probably is. I walk up towards the bathroom and glance at the red marks on my cheek.
I splash my head with cold water, when I hear screaming coming from downstairs. Cautiously I walk down the stairs, trying to make no sound. I put my ears on the closed living room door, trying to listen what they're arguing about.
"She's getting older, John." Mom's voice is muffled from the other side.
"Well, she doesn't know, so why slap her." Dad's voice sounds angry.
"We didn't raise her right, John. We gave her to much."
"Although she isn't the best, we promised them to look after her as well as we can. And I love my baby." I gasp as my dad's words flood into my ears. What are they talking about.
"Why John. It's just like one more year, before she starts and then we might as well think of her that she never existed." Mom say, with an angry voice.
I'm about to turn around and run towards my room, when I hear glass shattering on the hard floor. Slowly I open the door and peek my head inside. My blood runs cold at the sight.
"Mom." My eyes widen as I see blood running down her head.
"Kirsten, go away." My heart sinks at mom's words.
"No, darling stay. Me and Mom is just having a little fight." Dad's calm voice soothes my heart. I run towards him and hold him tightly, as if my life depends on it.
"No, yes. Kirsten, honey. I'm sorry. John please give me and her alone time so that I can apologize." My mom walks up towards me. I look at her with big eyes, as dad walks out the living room.
"Honey, I'm so sorry." She gives me a hug, but I pull away.
"No, mom. I heard everything you and dad said. Might want to explain to me what's going on." I cross my arms over my chest and wait for her to respond.
"Kirsten." She tugs a piece of hair behind my ear. "You need to leave."
"Why." Confusion floods me again.
"Your dad isn't who you think you are." I stare at her.
"But it sounded more like the opposite." I raise my voice, but mom puts her finger on my mouth trying to shush me.
"You don't want me live here anymore, do you?" I go on.
She nods, and push me away. "Go now, before something really bad is going to happen. Dad even might die. Don't tell him anything and just leave." I see sadness in her eyes and tears falling down her cheeks.
"But-"
"Go, now. I already packed your things. Go out your window. Now." Her voice is threatening, so I run upstairs. I don't want something bad to happen to dad. I see a blue back pack on my bed stuffed with belongings. I take the bag and sling it over my shoulders.
I open my window, and climb cautiously down the tree, next my room. I land on my feet, ready to run but glance back. I so badly want to tell dad, what mom is doing, but I don't want to loose him. I take of running as fast as I can, not knowing where I'm going. I have no idea where I'm going to live or what I'm going to do.
After all these years I got everything I wanted. Now? Now I have nothing.
I run with force, not able to stop. Sweat is dripping down my spine, my face is wet with tears, but I keep running. I know mom and dad didn't raise me right, by giving me anything I wanted. I turned out to be a spoiled brat that I know I must not be.
I fall on my knees, staring at the tree in front of me. I let out all my miserable thoughts, when I see the tree turning grey. I hear cracking noises as I see the tree fall forward. At first I thought I'm hallucinating, but the tree is coming nearer and nearer. I look down and close my eyes, ready for my death but I fly sideways, just as the tree fall next to me. I feel a arm on my waist and look into two gorgeous, deep green eyes.
"Do you have a death wish or something." His voice is deep and sexy. He is handsome. I feel my heart beat quicken as I stare at his beautiful face. His straight black hair, falls perfectly in place. High cheek bones, a body to kill for. He is just perfect.
"N-no." I glance at his arm still around my waist and pull it of me. "Thank you for, uhm saving me." I stand up and help him up.
"It's okay." He brushes the sand off his clothes and glance at the fallen tree. I hear him curse under his breath.
"Now my tree is gone." He shake his head as he says the words.
"Your tree?" I question him.
He nods "Yeah, the tree where I come to drink and smoke doing all that stuff you know."
"Okay, well I'm sorry to hear that but I'm on my way, bye." I turn around and walk quickly away. This was weird. The tree just turning grey and falling like that. I shake my head as I take off running again.
"Hey." I hear him yelling. I turn around, impatient as he stride towards me. "What's your name."
"Kirsten."
"Wait, your Kirsten Levintin." He asks.
I nod, confused. "How do you know."
"Wow, I didn't know you would be so-" He sighs "Never mind."
I raise my eyebrows and eye him. "What."
"Nothing, now your to come with me." He take my hand and pulls me with him. Quickly I pull away and look at him in disgust. "Where to."
"Just come." I pulls my hand again, this time harder. I turn around and start running as fast as my feet can take me, before I feel a wet cloth on my mouth and everything turns into nothingness.
