Chapter 19

Another? This time she was a dragon. Cool. A big, grey so dark it looked like black, dragon. She was sitting, a fire burning behind her back. Her vision pierced the night world easily, the light from the fire sent prickles down her back. She looked over her shoulder to look at the eight sleeping dragons.

One had a dark red head, the red getting lighter, being a bright red by the time it got to the tip of the fire dragon's long tail. Another was red and blue, she was keeping the fire going, the fire dragon didn't use any fire. Another dragon's scales were multicoloured, she was a hybrid of a lot of dragon species, and wasn't able to fly. A mostly black dragon with red and orange wings and grey scales was one of the last of her kind. A turquoise water dragon lay asleep, fairly close to the fire dragon, they were friends, and the fire dragon liked having her near. A black dragon with a couple red scales, a bonded demon dragon to another creature, was asleep, she'd left her bonded person behind, but the demon she was connected with was alert. A metal and gold dragon, an experiment, was asleep like the others, close to the fire. A green and brown dragon was enclosed in a mound of dug dirt, she didn't have any powers.

Griz turned her attention back to the sky, the sun had left the sky a while ago, leaving her in darkness, energy ran through her blood. The sun would rise soon. She needed to find some cover for the journey ahead, the sun would pain her, fire was manageable, being out in the sun was a big no no unless it was important enough. She would live, but it felt like being constantly burnt. It also hurt her eyes. They were made for shadows, not light. She wobblily got up, Griz needed to help the dragon she had taken over, accidently.

Someone shook Griz awake. That, she was quite happy for, she'd had enough of seeing other's worlds through their eyes.

"You okay? We need to get going before the sun rises."

"Yeah, bad dream." Griz said, then yawned. She looked at the sky, it was still dark, but the first rays of light was begining to welcome the horizon.

"We are going. If I were you, I would get on one of the mounts. There is no need for you to waste your energy."

"Okay, I am coming. I will get on yours."

Her old mentor whistled and the creature that they had ridden here on, trundled towards it.

"I still have no idea what to call you."

"Call me... It is not my real name, but call me Kel. It is shorter and easier for you to pronounce than my real name."

"Okay. Thank you." Griz followed Kel onto the back of the creature, Griz shifted into her small winged form, making it esier for the mount. The wings meant that if she did fall of, she could fly back onto the mount. Being dead wasn't on her to do list.

They took off, the other twelve beasts to their right, the eldest flying in the center of the group. It was the most powerful, and precious, many millennia of precious knowledge was kept in its head. Kel seemed to be more at ease flying on the back of this creature then walking on the ground. More at ease now then any other time.

The group of creatures flew into the lightening sky, to their victory, or to death. Their battle will end, and Griz was in the thick of it.
