Chapter 1
The shores of Route 115 were very rarely packed with people, making it a nice place to go to if one needed to be alone. On this dark, starry night, one young boy was sitting there on the sand, curled into a ball as he sat. The light breeze blew the loose straps of his aviator hat around, as he looked at the sea and sulked.
"I hate it here...why do I have to be here...I just wanna go home..."
The boy himself knew not how long he had say there. He lost all perception of time while he was moping.
"Everyone in Rustboro City is mean...no one's nice to me or wants to be my friend."
But, as he sat and sulked, a shooting star seemed to streak across the sky. The boy gasped, thinking this was his opportunity.
"I...I wish I could go back home. To Mossdeep City."
However, he didn't receive his wish. Instead, a meteorite splashed into the ocean, soaking the boy's clothes.
"Whoa...what was that?"
His thoughts were interrupted by a shrill cry from the impact zone. The boy threw off his helmet, diving into the water and swimming to the sound.
A small pink creature was flailing around in the water, until the boy grabbed it and pulled it to the shore.
"Hey, it's alright. I've got you," the boy told the creature, stroking its head gently.
"Cleffa? Cleffa Cleffa," the creature asked quizzically.
The boy set the creature down in the sand, the small pink organism surprised by the feel of the coarse granules.
"Cleffa?"
"Hmm...are you a Pokémon," the boy asked.
Unsure of what to say, the being nodded. "Cleffa. Cleffa Clef."
"I'm Jake, and you must be Cleffa."
The Pokémon nodded, picking up a paw full of sand and letting it fall.
Jake marveled at the Pokémon. He had never seen something like it.
Cleffa, on the other hand, marveled at everything she saw. She had known nothing like it before. As she looked around, her eyes widened as she saw Jake's hat. She began walking over to it, puzzled.
Jake took notice and crawled next to her.
Cleffa touched the hat curiously, before tumbling in.
Jake laughed, petting Cleffa's head. "You're quite the curious little one, aren't you?"
Cleffa failed to respond, instead laying in the hat and looking up. She seemed to be staring at the stars above, gazing at them longingly.
"Cleffa..." she sighed, tears coming into her eyes. She reached up longingly with her paw, before lowering her appendage to cover her eyes, moving her other arm to do so as well.
Jake saw this and lifted Cleffa up, holding the Pokémon in his arms.
"You...you're from space, aren't you? And you want to go back home, right?"
Cleffa nodded, looking at Jake with her tear-filled eyes.
Jake wiped Cleffa's tears, smiling.
"We can get you back. We just have to get to Mossdeep City."
Cleffa hugged Jake's chest, burying her face in his white shirt.
Jake hugged her, smiling. For once, he had made a friend in Rustboro City.
"I'll get you there...I promise..."
