Keith knocked on a door as he was going to go back to his dorm but realized Pidge hasn't been out and about lately.

"Hey Pidge, shiros making dinner, wanna come over?" Keith asked through the door and got a mumble in return.

"Can you open the door so I can hear you?" He said flatly.

"I said fuck off," she said louder and Keith stuck out his bottom lip looking at the door.

"You okay?" He leaned against the wall next to the door.

"No,"

"Let me in then?" He now was worried. The door slid open and Keith saw Pidge with her hair in a mess and her eyes red and puffy from crying.

"Hey what happened?" Keith got to her level now very worried.

"T-those things killed Matt, Matt hasn't come home," she closed her eyes with an angry expression as she pursed her lips to a thin white line.

"Wait what?" He said in shock. He brought Pidge to his chest quickly as she sobbed into his shirt gripping onto him.

"The rabids attacked and Matt died!" She sobbed.

"I'm so so so sorry Pidge," Keith looked down at her as she cried harder.

"Come on, your staying with me for a few days," Keith said softly and picked her up as she was very light.

"Iverson didn't even care, he just told me the news and left," she sniffled hanging onto Keith.

"He's a dick, sometimes I think he's just as bad as the rabids," Keith sighed and thought of the prisoner once again.

"Those bastards are going to pay," she gripped his shirt again.

"What do you mean? They're trained warrior barbarians," Keith frowned.

"I'll train with you, I'm strong Keith and I'm going to get stronger until I'm eighteen," she mumbled into his shirt.

Keith stayed silent as he made it back to his dorm and opened the door as Shiro was cooking and saw Pidge and Keith, he wasn't surprised, he knew he lost... The lost of his own best friend.

"I'll get a third plate," Shiro grabbed another plate as Keith sat on the small couch as Pidge sat next to him leaning on his arm as tears stained her face.

"Why didn't you tell me about Matt?" Keith asked as he got up and Pidge hugged her legs on the couch.

"... I don't want to think about it, it went to fast Keith," Shiro sighed quietly as Keith leaned against the counter.

"What happened out there Shiro?" He said sternly.

"We found some rabids near and I don't even know who threw the first punch, suddenly we where just shooting whatever was around, it was four then they multiplied like into 30 others," Shiro whispered for only Keith to hear.

"What did you see Shiro?" Keith narrowed his eyes.

"Those things, rabids, they killed so many of us, but they got more aggressive and murderous when iverson took one hostage," Shiro explained.

"What?" His eyes widen hut eye brows stayed knitted confused and a little upset.

"Keith, they stopped immediately when he put a gun to its head, one of them even yelled at us not wanting the soldier dead, I've never seen that before," Shiro looked at the ground.

"What happened to the hostage?" Keith asked now worried if the boy down stairs was that hostage.

"Don't you dare tell anyone Keith, I'm only going to tell you cause I trust you,"

"I promise," he already knew the answer.

"I lied before, in R-48, that hostage is a prisoner here, he's being interrogated by iverson,"

"I know Shiro,"

"What?!" Shiro immediately covered his mouth from how loud he was and shook his head.

"I heard you guys and I connected the dots, he's just a kid Shiro," Keith scowled.

"Is he going to die?" He whispered.

"If he cooperates," Shiro nodded.

"Keith have you been sneaking in there?" He asked crossing his arms. Keith nodded glaring.

"He's like my age Shiro," Keith defended.

"It's a killer,"

"He's a human!"

"His people killed hundreds of us!"

"We've killed thousands of them!"

Keith clenched his fist tightly as he challenged his brother figure dangerously as rage bubbled in him.

"Those things above have killed people we loved, they do not reason, they do not feel like us, they are dangerous and deadly, if one dies they have more to replace it with," Shiro said sternly and threateningly quiet as Keith glared.

"They're human Shiro, he's scared out of his mind and torturing him won't do anything except scar his body," Keith stormed out not looking back at Pidge stood up with wide eyes.

Keith ran down the halls and found his way to the prison cell containing the boy and he got in easily and jumped down to the underground cellar.

"Lo juro por Dios..." The boy groaned and Keith turned on the lights seeing him as he could see the prisoners ribs under the muscle but almost all of his body was covered in blood.

"It's just me," Keith said leaning against the wall in front of the boy even if he was still blind folded.

"Great..." His voice was raspy and dripping in sarcasm.

"Going to taunt me then leave?" He gulped and Keith frowned.

"No," Keith scoffed. "I'm going to ask you some questions,"

"I rather die you incompetente mierda estúpida," he spat and coughed up some blood as he hissed in pain.

"Let me finish my sentence," Keith glared. "If you answer my questions I'll help you escape,"

It was silent.

"What sick joke did the man put you too?" He whispered.

"I'm not a soldier, I don't give a fuck about my general," Keith crossed his arms.

"Fine,"

"Why did you kill our troops?"

"Your troops attacked first, me and my family where trying to leave to warn the others," he answered tiredly and coughed up more blood as he choked on a small sob.

"Right your sister," Keith nodded and grabbed the rag once again and gently dabbed it on the boys back standing behind him.

"What's your name?" Keith asked slowly.

"Lance,"

"I'm Keith," he smiled softly as he cleaned the dry blood.

"How old are you?"

"Eighteen," lances voice shook. Keith froze, he was just a year younger than him...

"Why did you kill Matt?" Keith whispered.

"Your soldiers are all the same, I've lost friends that where like siblings, trained with, laughed with, you've burnt down villages and lost children, women, men, families in fires," Lance grunted.

"Why are you asking these questions?" Lance breathed as his chest heaved in a raggedy breath.

"I'm just seeing if I can trust you and see if what I'm told is true," Keith explained and Lance nodded.
