Chapter 8: Blind as a Bat

{What do you guys think of the flow of this story? I'm aiming for a more drawled out and slow burn for this series--let me know if you want any Special chapters like the ones in The Hybrid's Cat, and what should they be?}

Marinette groaned and adjusted her annoying apron, nothing was working out for her today. Her hair was a mess, Tikki had ran out of the large stash of cookies that the blue-belled eyed girl had kept in cases of emergencies. And on top of that, she was completely and utterly exhausted from the Akuma that had attacked the Major's Hotel last night, Chloe was fawning over her and Chat had been flirting with her at the most inappropriate times of battle.

"You looked drained Mari, do you need me to take over the register?" (M/n) soft voice entered her ears and her eyes welled up with dramatic crocodile tears.

"My hero!!" Marinette whined out, bawling falsely. (M/n) chuckled, sparring her a minuscule smile. She hugged his torso tightly, rubbing her face in the boy's chest as the boy made his way the counter. Tending to the people waiting patiently. Thankfully today wasn't busy and now that (M/n) was there with the black-haired girl, the day would go much easier.

============

Adrien was on his way to the park where another Photo-shoot would be taking place when he spotted (M/n) making his way through the playground and plopping down inside of one of the domes  and small holes.

The golden-blond let his photographer know where he was going before making his way over to where he saw the tall teen climb in. Chuckling at the childish place to pick of all things, Adrien ducked his head inside startling the other.

"Ah!--" (M/n) held his chest in shock while the blond tried to contain his wide teasing smile.

"Hi," the blond raised his hand, waving curtly. (M/n) frowned deeply, adjusting his glasses(low-key forgot that I gave him glasses) as he got comfortable in the small kid's dome. The entire thing was made out of concrete and painted a vibrant red while the inside was a mix of a light yellow and pink.

"...Hi." (M/n) greeted back meekly. He was angry.

Angry that he thought for even a moment that the blond wasn't going to be there today. It was cloudy and he could smell the rain lingering in the air, the wind was picking up and it was cold.

His ideal performing weather. From when he played piano.

"Are you alright? I mean...from yesterday. I know that Chloe can be pretty harsh and she needs to get it together but--"

"You don't need to worry about me." (M/n) interrupted sharply, coldly glaring at the blond. But the model noticed the slight tremors in his hands and knees. Adrien pursed his lips at the cold words that (M/n) spewed out in an instant. Almost if he had rehearsed those lines minutes prior. The golden-blonde shook his head making the other gape at him before snorting and shaking his head in disappointment.

"I can't not care or worry about one of my friends." Adrien admitted. Scratching the back of his neck. (M/n) stared at him hard and coldly before turning his body away from the blond and staring out at the mulch of the playground.

"We're not friends." the (h/c)-haired teen muttered, hugging his scrapped knees closer to his chest. Adrien flinched back in retaliation. Scrunching his nose while he watched the (H/c)-haired seventeen-year-old scramble away from him once he got closer to his face and back.

"Hey! Don't run away from me!" Adrien shouts, (M/n) rolled his lip between his teeth before shaking his head and crawling out of the playground piece tripping over his shoelaces.

Adrien noticed the small trip and snorted, making his own way out of the small dome.

"That's what you get for trying to run away from me." Adrien states loudly, grabbing some of the Photographers attention. His teasing tone and playful stance would be perfect for the cover of the magazine of Summer weather outfits.

Right as Adrien began to crawl out of the concrete dome, a loud shrill scream echoed throughout the vicinity. The golden-blond immediately dove into action, grabbing ahold of the taller teen's right hand and dragging him towards a safer part of the park, "Go find somewhere safe---"

"What about you?!" (M/n) snapped, glaring at the blond, his tight grip on the model's hand alarmed the blond as he made his way to run towards the scream.

"Don't be an idiot and get killed! I--I don't know much about these things but still---" (M/n) stopped rambling as his throat clogged with a chocked back gasp when Adrien stared at him with gentle warm eyes and a calm smile. Adrien patted him on the shoulder to which he barely felt. The glint of his thick glasses lens let Adrien see himself in the reflection.

"You don't need to worry about me." he quotes, (M/n)'s lips straightened out in a thin line as he sucked in a sharp inhale through his nose when Adrien smiled a little wider and took his hand back, letting it drop to his side and sighed. (M/n) suddenly raised his hand and flicked the blond model sensation on the forehead.

"You're a dumbass." (M/n) scowled. Adrien snorted, "Really?" he shot back.

(M/n) sighed and shook his head, falling back on his confidence as another scream and some crashing broke through their repetitive banter.

Ladybug came soaring through the sky to the center of the park, frantically looking around until she spotted them together.

"Adrien! You're here too, you two need to get out of here! There's a huge Akuma attacking near the Bakery--"

"The bakery?!" (M/n) shouted in worry, the two flinched in surprise. Mainly Ladybug, as Marinette she had never heard (M/n) yell or get angry. "Did you get everyone out of the Bakery?" (M/n) gripped the woman's arm, concern practically soaking his words. Ladybug's heart swelled at the thought of the boy worrying about her and her family before nodding once more.

"Don't worry, they're safe, as for you and Adrien, you two need to leave before---" The superhero was interrupted by a loud roaring scream that cracked windows and shook the ground, debris of a crushed car flying at them. (M/n)'s eyes widened and he froze.

The terrifying thought of being hit by yet another car hit him harder than Adrien tackling him to the ground as the crushed truck rolled across the ground, kicking up dirt-like smoke screen that clouded (M/n)'s already blurry vision. His glasses were thrown across the park and he squinted hard as a flash of green and black zoomed past his peripheral vision.

"A-Adrien...Is that you?" (M/n) shakily questioned, the fear left his body and was replaced with the irritation of not being able to see.

He was practically as blind as a bat without the large prescription glasses he's wore since he was thirteen. He patted the ground for his glasses, only to feel someone touch his left shoulder that he didn't even realize that was bleeding once again from his poor stitching job.

"Hey, I think these are yours~," the whisper in his ear and the warm palm clothed by the brisk leather suit and sharp nails that poked through the stretchy fabric made (M/n) shudder.

The expensive glasses slid onto his face, taking a second to blink to get his focus back as the smoke screen of dirt was forced away by Ladybug's yo-yo and Chat Noir's baton. (M/n)'s eyes widened, his thick messy bangs were blown back from Adrien tackling him. The thought of the blond model crossed his mind as he frantically searched for the model.

Chat seemed to notice his panic and smirked, "don't worry about him, I got him away from the park in the nick of time. Now it's your turn, don't want you to go blindly into trouble," Chat smirk widened at the use of his pun.

"Right~?"

You could say that (M/n) really is Blind as a Bat.
