Chapter 51: Before the Day is Over...

[A FEW MONTHS HAVE PASSED]

(M/n) stared up at the ceiling tiredly, the IV attached to his arm sat uncomfortably in his skin by a thin piece of medical tape. Glancing out the window near his bed, he heard the honking cars of the busy 5 o' clock traffic and the steady beep of the monitor in the background. He graduated alongside his classmates, a few Akuma's that stood in their way, but they prevailed. He took up tutoring immediately for teaching music. He liked the way his life was flowing. He and Adrien only grew closer, he and Plagg were best friends by the time he and Adrien moved into an apartment best suited for the two of them.

(M/n)'s mother sold the old house, and it was bought by an unknown buyer. The pianist was not too worried about it. He was happy to be so close to his family after so long in that darkness away from them.

The door to his hospital room opened slowly with a soft knock and the muddled voice of his lover.

Adrien poked his head in and grinned at the (h/c)-haired adult that rested on the bed lazily.

"Made yourself at home already?" he asked snarky, but his voice was gentle and warm. The patient rolled his eyes and leaned back against the pillows; Adrien walked into the room fully and closed the door behind him.

"How do you feel?" He inquired, coming to sit down beside the bed.

(M/n) shrugged hazily and lulled his head to look at the blond, "Better than when the accident happened..." he says simply and drained. He glanced down at the blunt limb that was nothing more than a stump from the amputation. His procedure was a shoulder disarticulation; it was already hard enough to use the full range of muscle in his back connecting to his left arm so this was best he could do with the lingering pain. It was already his last day of his hospital stay and he was ready to be home away from the harsh smelling chemicals.

Adrien smiled endearingly at him and ran his fingers through his slightly greasy hair. That was another thing was ready for, a hot shower and the pampering that he was going to be showered with. Adrien leaned over and pecked his forehead as the taller young adult hummed at the feeling of his warm lips.

"You ready to go home?" the model hums, (M/n) nodded mutely and leaned against the Blond's shoulder.

"Let's get you ready then..." Adrien pulled away from the day-old touched starved adult as the pianist whined.

--

The paperwork didn't take too long to get approved and as they left with the pianist in a wheelchair and Adrien behind him escorting the musician to the car, they were stopped by Marinette and the others. They had balloons and cards piled up in their hands and jacket-covered arms. The temperature had started to drop after graduation, Autumn began to turn into early winter.

(M/n) shivered and cuddled into the blanket resting on his shoulders and lap a bit more as Adrien mingled with their friend group. Marinette smiled softly at him, and the taller adult smiled back; offering up his right arm as a meek gesture to come closer.

"Hey dork," the pianist mumbled, Marinette rolled her eyes and slapped the boy lightly on the shoulder.

"Hey loser," she grinned.

"You look good, the 80% of you." She teased, (M/n) huffed and patted the sutured nub gently, "It's like it was never gone in the first place."

"Yeah, right." Marinette laughed, "Mama and papa are wanting to come visit you soon, see how you're doing and all that jazz." She shrugs, "They're happy that you made the decision, they want you to be happy." She cast a sly glance toward Adrien who was packing away the gifts from Alya and Nino into the car.

"I want you to be happy too," Marinette kissed his cheek and hugged him gently.

"Thank you, lovebug," (M/n) whispered, kissing her cheek. They separated and Marinette helped him into the car as Nino returned the wheelchair, Adrien held his hand before walking around the car and turned to the black-haired girl and hugging her tightly. They parted and waved each other off before Adrien got into the car. Plagg darted out from the Blond's jacket pocket and tucked himself in (M/n)'s wavy hair that had grown over into a soft mullet-like shaggy style.

"Welcome back kiddo," Plagg mumbled. "We're not home yet, kitty," (M/n) mumbled back.

"Yeah, yeah..." Plagg responded sarcastically. The (h/c)-haired musician huffed a laugh before he rested his head onto Adrien's shoulder.

"Before the day is over...can we go somewhere?" (M/n) voiced quietly in the calm of the car. The road wasn't as busy, the dark in the sky was calming and tranquil. Almost lulling him to sleep if it weren't for Plagg's saw-like snoring echoing in his ear. Adrien gripped his knee tighter, "I want to see the beach..."

"Okay, we'll go..." Adrien grinned, parking somewhere secluded, he cranked the seats back and called Plagg. After his transformation sequence was over, he opened the sunroof of the car and picked up (M/n) gently before bouncing off to the nearest beach he could find.

===

The trip was longer than (M/n) had expected and he had actually fallen asleep during it. When they had landed somewhere secure, Adrien jostled him awake as gently as he could. The drugged-up pianist mumbled something incoherent as he woke up, Adrien placed him on wobbly feet. Arms braced to catch him if needed, he watched the young adult smile out at the calming waves.

"Thank you, Adrien..." (M/n) grinned, kissing the hero on the cheek softly and stumbling down the steps to the sandy shore. He walked out and kicked off his slip-ons as he got closer to the water. It was cold and raked a shiver up his spine, but he felt at ease.

"Because of you, I got to live happily and without too much to worry about. You still get on my nerves and manage to be my favorite person other than Plagg. I want to continue to live with you until we're old and wrinkly and we can watch as new heroes go around and give us second-hand embarrassment." Adrien chuckled as he watched the taller teen face the water again. He wore a blue and white-striped button-up, the doctor's recommended easy to put-on clothes to help with the process of soreness.

The left sleeve blew with the wind and whipped back, and it managed to make the musician look cooler than him in his hero costume. The blond slowly made his way over to his lover, in no rush to get him out of the water. (M/n) would come back when he was ready to. "You make it sound like a proposal. I might get the wrong idea," the blond teased.

The pianist looked down at the sand before turning back to the hero.

"Is it bad if it was?"

"Was what...?" the hero mumbled, confused and butterflies formed in his stomach as he watched the pianist slowly walk up to him, reaching into his back pocket for a small black box.

"You--" Adrien covered his mouth, Plagg whipped out of the transformation and zipped over to where (M/n) was standing a few yards away from him.

"Would you marry me in the future...Adrien Agreste?" The blond covered his mouth with both of his hands as his eyes instantly watered. Tears slipping down his face without his consent as he stumbled forward, (M/n) tilted his head to the side as he smiled bashfully. His glasses began to slip down his nose, but he didn't do anything to stop it.

"I..." Adrien's voice was choked in his throat, the dryness in his mouth sapping away every ounce of ability to say the words he yearned to shout and scream.

Without even meaning to, and without another thought to cross his mind to stop him, he ran toward the taller of the two and tackled with a tight hug. Turning that way, he could take the brunt of the impact on the sand. He didn't care that he was getting sand in his jeans or the fact that the salty cold water was soaking his back and his hair.

He sobbed quietly into the pianist's shoulder as he nodded against his neck.

"I will, I want to...I want nothing more than to marry you..." Adrien cried into his chest as (M/n) rolled them over.

"You promise?" (M/n) cried into the Blond's hair.

Adrien only nodded weakly into his chest.

The two embraced until the water numbed their bodies, and they were forced to get up. Adrien slipped the ring on the Blond's finger, kissing his chin and jaw--nipping on his ear as they pulled away from each other slowly and hesitantly.

"When--"

"Marinette and I were planning it together. Them coming over with the balloons today was a distraction." (M/n) grinned, dusting the sand from his and Adrien's hair.

"But when did you get the ring?" Adrien asked.

"I bought it after graduation with the money I had saved from the graduation money I received from mom. And I had it preordered so it could arrive after I was discharged from the hospital." Adrien stole a kiss from the taller adult.

"You planned all of this?" The Blond laughed breathlessly; he was impressed.

"Not everything, Marinette and the others were there to help me pick out the perfect ring for you. Mari slipped me the ring when she was helping me into the car," (M/n) grinned cheekily.

Adrien shook his head and kissed the tip of his nose before resting his head on his shoulder.

"Hey, (M/n)," Adrien starts, soft and warm. (M/n) hummed and kissed the shell of his ear, "Yes, my love?"

"Before the day is over...Can we watch our favorite movie?" (M/n) grinned wider and pecked the Blond over his cheeks and lips before nodding and tugging him close to embrace him tightly.

"Yeah, you goose."

They eventually ditched the movie, laying the soft closure of their shared bed. Kissing over each other's bodies and just basking in the warmth of the freshly dried sheets that had been sitting in the sun waiting for them to return. Adrien kissed the boy's bare chest and ran his fingertips over his collarbone and neck in feather-light prodding, open-mouth kisses placed sporadically across pale olive-toned skin and small sighs escaping the bobbing Adam's apple of his lover's throat.

"I like when you do that..." Adrien mumbled against the pink spots he created.

"When I do what?" (M/n)'s hoarse voice whispered, it almost made Adrien want another round, "when you move your throat like that..." Adrien bit the part he was talking about, thriving in the way that it made him squirm.

"Yeah..?" (M/n) teased, glancing at the model before he placed his arm above his head and tilting his head to the side as the vigilante moved up his body with tongue and teeth caressing his chest up to his neck and jaw.

"Yeah," Adrien echoed.

(M/n) laughed into the pillow cushioning his head as he shook softly, it's one of the hardest Adrien's seen him laugh. The blond scowled teasingly and blew raspberries into the young-adult's neck making the pianist laugh harder and wheeze.

"Yeah..."

"Hmm..." (M/n) sighed contentedly, "I love you." He whispers.

"I love you too..." Adrien cuddled closer to the man's neck.

I finally got him to LOOK MY WAY...

THE END.
