CHAPTER TWO, millie the young adult witch
Phoebe and Julie were currently walking back to their apartment, just then getting back from a class they had. They noticed that Jack and Eric were in the hallway, talking to Millie, who lived in apartment 3B which was down at the end of the hall to the right.
Phoebe smiles at Jack and Eric. "Hey, guys."
Jack smiles at her. "Hi, Bee." The two young adults missed the fact that Millie was glaring at Phoebe. Julie, however, noticed it and when Millie realized she saw, Julie raised her eyebrows challengingly with a threatening look on her face. Her way of silently saying if Millie ever tried to hurt Phoebe she would have to go through her first. Millie rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"Hey, girls!" Eric greets, smiling at them. "I'm heading to O'Dooley's by myself 'cause Jack and Millie aren't club people, so you guys wanna join?" He looks at them pleadingly. "Please do, I don't wanna be lonely."
Julie laughs a bit and nods. "Sure, Eric, we'll go with you."
Phoebe frowns. "But I'm not a club person."
"You haven't been out in weeks, you're going." Julie said in a stern voice, grabbing her wrist and pulling her back towards the elevator where Eric was now at. "Trust me, you'll have fun."
Phoebe groans. "Fine." Her attention was brought back to Jack and Millie when she heard Millie ask him something.
"Why don't you show me your apartment?"
Jack chuckles nervously, smiling at her. "Sure."
Eric scoffs. "Are you kidding me?" He questioned in disbelief just as the elevator door closed.
****
"Well, that sucked." Julie whined, closing the door behind her as she walked further into her's and Phoebe's apartment.
Phoebe grins, taking a drink of the coffee she got. "I had fun."
"You're just happy that O'Dooley's wasn't a club anymore and that you got coffee from the Starbucks that's there now." Julie grumbled, kicking her shoes off and left them by the door before she went to sit down on the couch.
"Hey, I got you a coffee too." Phoebe reminded her, walking over to hand Julie her cup of coffee.
Julie takes a drink of it, her eyes widening with surprise. "Wow, this is really good."
"I know." Phoebe nods. She laughs. "And I cant believe it took Eric three dances for him to realize O'Dooley's was now a Starbucks."
Julie laughs a bit. "Yeah, kinda felt bad for not saying anything 'cause it was kind of embarrassing to watch." As Phoebe gets the remote to turn the tv on and sit down on the couch, Julie grabs a blanket to put over herself. "Hey, what do you think of Millie?"
"I think she's fine." Phoebe shrugs. She tilts her head to the side. "Why?"
"I don't know. I just have this off feeling about her." Julie admits. She takes another drink of her coffee. "I mean, when you and Jack smiled at each other, she was glaring at you."
"Maybe she's just jealous because she likes Jack." Phoebe suggests. "Let's just try to be friends with her, okay? Jack finally has a girl who's interested in him and he happy. I don't want to ruin that."
"You're interested in him though." Julie smiles teasingly.
Phoebe's face heats up and she rolls her eyes. "Yeah, but he doesn't need to know that, okay? He most likely doesn't feel the same way and plus we haven't even been friends for that long. So I don't want to say anything about it. At least not yet."
"Okay," Julie shrugs, leaning against the back of the couch and curls up with the blanket. "You two would be really cute together though."
"Shut up." A darker shade of blush appears on Phoebe's face as the brunette threw a throw pillow that was on the couch at Julie. Julie laughed and caught the pillow.
****
The next morning Phoebe and Julie were going to say good luck to Jack and Eric since they were going to run up the Rocky steps today.
"Hey, Matthews and Hunter." Phoebe greeted, walking into the apartment with Julie following her. Her smile on her face fell when she saw Millie was there and she was surprised to see Millie had a tray with breakfast food on it, probably for Jack.
Julie closes the door behind her. "We're here to wish you good luck and tell you we hope you don't fall on your run."
"So," Phoebe smiles at the boys. "Good luck-"
"And don't fall." Julie finished her sentence.
Jack chuckles. "Thanks, guys."
Millie turns to face Jack with a frown. "But Jack, I planned the rest of your life- I mean, day." She chuckled, however, Phoebe and Julie exchanged a suspicious look.
"I thought we'd take a nice long walk and then come back and sit outside," Millie smiles at Jack, putting a hand on his shoulder. "And wait for dark." She then leaned forward to kiss him.
"Gross." Julie muttered as Phoebe looked away from the kiss with hurt in her eyes. She hated it that she felt jealous of Millie.
"Stop! Stop! Stop that!" Eric yelled at Jack and Millie with a disgusted expression on his face. He saw the sad look on Phoebe's face and he knew that she liked Jack so he also yelled at them to stop for her benefit too so she didn't have to watch it.
"Now, we've been stretching for this jog since September." Eric reminds Jack as he and Millie pull away. "We're finally limber."
Millie shakes her head, frowning at Jack. "Why is he attacking me?"
Phoebe furrows her eyebrows. "He's not attacking you."
"I didn't ask for your input." Millie told her in a harsh tone. Phoebe blinked with surprise, sharing a surprised look with Julie.
"Eric," Jack walks over to stand in front of Eric. "You're upsetting Millie. Okay?" Jack walks over to Millie while she sets the tray on the table. "I would love to spend the day with you."
In a mocking voice and with an upset expression, Eric said, "Millie, I would love to spend the day with you." He then scoffed, shaking his head. Phoebe and Julie covered their mouth to stifle a laugh.
"Oh, good," Shawn walks out of his room and down the steps. He smiles upon seeing his brother and Eric were still there. "You're still here. I got up early to give you a send off for the big jog." He then notices Phoebe and Julie and smiles at them. "Hey, guys."
"Hi, Shawn." Phoebe and Julie greeted him with a smile on their face, but Phoebe was the only one who waved.
Shawn shows his brother and Eric two black beanies he held and he grins. "Hey, who wants Rocky hats? Huh?"
Smiling, Eric takes one beanie and puts it on. "Thank you, Shawn. That's sweet of you. But see," He points at Jack with an upset expression on his face. "He's not going. He chose her over me. Don't you see what she's doing to you, Jack?" He raises his voice as he continues. "Hugging you, holding you, kissing you! It's just wrong."
"And this is our cue to leave." Julie dragged out the word 'and' when she spoke it, pointing over her shoulder at the door while Eric left the apartment.
"Yep." Phoebe nodded, following Julie out of the apartment.
****
Phoebe and Jack had a day planned where they had a movie marathon and today happened to be that day. And so she was at Jack's apartment to check with him what movies they were watching.
"Hey, Jackie." Phoebe greets and Jack smiles at her. "I just wanted to check what kind of movie marathon we're having. Is it Disney themed? Superhero themed?"
Jack grimaces. "Wait, that's today? I'm gonna have to reschedule."
The bright smile that was on Phoebe's face when she first walked in fell and she pouts. "Awe, why?"
"I have a date with Millie." Jack responded, smiling apologetically at her.
"You have a date with Millie." Phoebe repeats as an annoyed look forms on her face. "Of course you have a date with her." She mumbled, crossing her arms.
"Look, I'm sorry." Jack apologizes, looking at her with sad eyes. He felt really bad about having to reschedule this because to be honest he was looking forward to it too. He always enjoyed this annual movie marathon with her. "I completely forgot our movie marathon thing was today and agreed to go on a date with Millie." He looks at her with a hopeful glint in his eyes. "So, can we reschedule for maybe next weekend?"
"Sure we can." Phoebe sighed sadly.
"Thanks, Bee." Jack smiled at her and she couldn't help but smile back at him even though she was upset. Jack looked at the door along with Phoebe when there was a knock and Jack called out to the person to come inside.
Millie opens the door, smiling at Jack. "Hi, Jack." She closes the door behind her, walking further into the apartment. "Ready for our date?"
"Yeah." Jack smiles at her. "I just gotta get my jacket and my shoes on." He then left the girls and walked to his room.
Millie turns to face Phoebe with annoyance. "Why are you here?" She asked in a snarky tone.
"Jack and I have an annual movie marathon day and that day was today. Until you came into the picture." Phoebe grumbled the last part, looking at the floor.
Millie walks over to her with a threatening gaze in her eyes. "Listen here, Phoebe," She said, putting emphasis on Phoebe's name. "f you don't stay away from Jack, I'll make you stay away."
Phoebe looks up from looking at the floor and looks at her with narrowed eyes. "Are you threatening me to stay away from Jack?"
"Yes, I am." Millie nods. "He's mine now and nobody should come between us." Her eyes seemed to darken as she speaks in a low voice. "Absolutely nobody."
Phoebe takes a step back as she uncrosses her arms, slightly intimated by her. She shakes her head, mentally telling herself she's not afraid of Millie and takes a step forward with a determined look in her eyes. "Listen here, Millie," She put emphasis on Millie's name like with what the blonde did with her name. "I know there's something off about you and I'm gonna find out what it is." Her gaze becomes intimating. "And if you ever hurt Jack, I will hurt you."
Millie scoffs. "Please. You're weak, how could you ever hurt me?"
Her blood boiled with anger when she said that and Phoebe's hands at her sides form into fsts. She takes a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself. She knew punching Millie probably wasn't the right thing, but she wanted to punch her so bad right now. Her eyes flew open and she gasped when she suddenly felt a sting on her right cheek.
Phoebe raises her hand to her right cheek where Millie slapped her, staring at Millie with surprise. "You just slapped me."
Millie glares at her. "You're the one who threatened to hurt me."
Okay, Phoebe had enough of her now. "Only because you're the one ruining everyone's friendships and is probably just using Jack!" Phoebe shoved Millie back and the blonde stumbled back slightly, looking at Phoebe with anger. But then Millie smirked when she thought of an idea to get Phoebe away from Jack for good.
Millie then fell to the floor, holding onto her ankle and cries out in pain. It must've been loud enough for Jack to hear because he comes rushing out of his room in the process of putting his jacket on. He had his shoes on now and had got his jacket on while he got to Millie and Phoebe.
Jack's eyes widen, immediately going to Millie's side. "What happened?"
"She pushed me!" Millie points at Phoebe with fake tears in her eyes. She looks at her ankle with a frown. "And now I think I hurt my ankle."
"What?" Phoebe laughs in disbelief. She couldn't believe this was actually happening right now and she couldn't believe it looked like Jack believed Millie. "Jack, I didn't push her!"
She pauses for a moment and with a sheepish expression on her face she nods. "Okay, I shoved her, but I didn't shove her hard enough for her to fall." She points at Millie. "She fell by herself and she definitely didn't hurt her ankle." She tilts her head to the side, looking at Jack with a hopeful expression when it seemed like he was thinking. She could almost see the gears turning in his head. "You believe me, don't you Jack?"
"Jack," Millie turns Jack's attention on her and Phoebe's eyes widen when she noticed Millie's eyes color changed and so did Jack's. Millie puts a hand on Jack's shoulder. "Phoebe hurt me. You should stop being friends with her because she's such a mean person."
Jack then looks at Phoebe with an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry, Phoebe." He helps Millie up on her feet with his arm around her shoulders and her arm was around his waist. "But I think you should leave. And I think we shouldn't be friends anymore if you're gonna hurt my girlfriend." Millie smirked at Phoebe and Phoebe's shoulders drop in defeat.
"Fine." Phoebe grumbled and she left the apartment, slamming the door behind her.
****
Phoebe and Julie usually had an annual movie night with Jack and Eric, but things between Jack and Phoebe had been weird lately so they've been avoiding each other.
"Why are we watching a scary movie?" Phoebe whined.
"It was Eric's turn to pick," Julie replies, eating a few pieces of popcorn as she points at Eric, who stood in the kitchen getting popcorn for himself. "Blame him."
"It's not my fault you guys don't like scary movies." Eric said. "And besides, it's Halloween!" He smiles. "The holiday that brings everyone together. A holiday where you just have to watch scary movies on Halloween."
Julie looks at him with an amused smile. "Eric, Christmas is the holiday that brings everyone together."
Eric looks at her with confusion. "It's not Halloween?"
"No." Julie shook her head.
"Then why do I say Merry Halloween?" Eric questioned.
"Because you're a dummy." Julie chuckled. Eric nodded, shrugging his shoulders.
"And now we return to the frightening conclusion of 'Halloween Part 9'." The woman on the tv announced since the commercials ended and then the woman evilly laughed.
Eric sits down between the girls, holding a bowl of popcorn and a soda. In the movie, a woman screamed, causing Eric to scream. Phoebe and Julie giggle, smiling at him with amusement. The woman in the movie screamed again and so did Eric. Each time the woman screamed, Eric screamed which caused Phoebe and Julie to laugh at his antics. Then suddenly the door opened, revealing Millie.
"Hi." Millie greeted and this time Eric and the the girls screamed.
"Wow, what a jump scare." Julie muttered and Phoebe and Eric nodded in agreement.
Since the remote was by her, Phoebe pauses the movie as Millie turns the light on. "How did you get in here?"
Millie holds up a key. "Jack made me a set. Bug ya?"
"Yes." Phoebe mumbled under her breath.
"Hey, Mill!" Jack greeted his girlfriend as he walks into the room, smiling brightly at her.
"Hi!" Millie smiled back at him.
Eric sighs, setting his bowl of popcorn and soda on the coffee table. He stands up, looking at Jack. "Jack, we have to talk."
"Fine. Talk to him." Millie smiles at Jack and kisses him. "He belongs to me now."
Phoebe scoffs. "You can't own him. He's his own person." Millie looked over at her with a glare and walked up the stairs to go to the balcony.
"Boy, she really loves it out there." Jack commented.
"You made her keys?" Eric asked him in disbelief.
"She's my girlfriend." Jack defended himself.
Julie shakes her head, rolling her eyes. "Oh, please. You guys have been going out for a couple of days and you already made her a set of keys?"
"Yeah," Phoebe chimes in. "That seems way too early for that."
"Yeah," "Eric nods in agreement, putting his hands on her hips. He raises his eyebrows at Jack. "And what's her last name, Jack?"
Jack is silent for a few moments as he thinks. He shakes his head, getting defensive. "I don't have to answer that."
"Is it because you don't know her last name?" Phoebe asked him.
Jack ignores her question and asks his friends, "What do you guys have against her?"
"I don't know, man." Eric throws his arms up out of frustration. "It's hard to find the words. Uh...Mean, creepy, evil, cold-hearted."
"Don't forget rude." Julie added and Eric pointed at her in a sign of agreement.
"Add rude to the list." Eric said, putting his hands on his hips.
"And possessive." Phoebe spoke.
"Yep, that too." Eric nods. "Actually, once you get started, it just kind of-"
Jack looks at his friends with offense. "What is your problem? I meet someone. I'm happy."
"You are not happy!" Eric points at him. "You're just a sweet, dumb farm kid who picked up with the first pretty girl who flashes him a smile."
"Then he would be with someone else instead of Millie." Julie muttered and Phoebe looked at her with wide eyes, leaning over to hit her shoulder. She was glad that Julie said that quietly and hoped that the boys didn't hear that.
"I'm from New York City!" Jack exclaimed.
"That town ain't so tough!" Eric shouted back at him.
"Guys, don't fight, please." Phoebe speaks up. She glances at Jack with a soft smile. "Look, we're just concerned about you because we all think Millie isn't really a good person."
"Exactly," Eric points at her in a sign of agreement. "We're just looking out for you. We're trying to make sure you're not gonna get hurt."
"Jack, we're just trying to be your friends." Julie added.
Jack walks over to the living room where now Eric stood and where the girls were still at on the couch. "If your idea of being my friend is to stop me from having a girlfriend, maybe you should stick to being my roommate." He looks at Phoebe and Julie. "And you guys should stick to being my neighbors."
Phoebe frowns, her shoulders dropping in defeat. This isn't how she wanted things to go. She was hoping they could try to convince Jack they were just looking out for him, but now she lost one of the greatest friends she ever had.
"Fine." Eric said sassily.
"Fine!" Jack nodded.
"Fine!" Eric repeated, raising his voice this time. He sat down on the couch between Phoebe and Julie, playing the movie as Jack walked away.
****
Phoebe was in her pjs, sitting on one end of the couch in the living room the next night as she watched a movie with Julie. Julie was also wearing her pjs and she sat on the opposite side of the couch with her legs outstretched on the couch and her back leaned against the arm rest. Phoebe had her arms rested on Julie's legs that were on her lap and she looked at the door when there was a knock.
"Come in!" Julie called out.
"Honey, I'm home." Eric said sadly, closing the door behind him.
Julie shares a concerned look with Phoebe as she moves so she was sitting normally. "Wait. Eric, what's wrong?" Phoebe asked him, not phased at all when Eric sat on the couch and then laid on his side with his head on Julie's lap and his legs on Phoebe's lap. Eric usually did this when he was upset about something so she and Julie were used to this.
"Millie's a witch, Jack chose her over me, and she's moving in." Eric complained.
"I knew it!" Julie exclaims. "I knew she was a witch. It makes so much sense now." She glances at Phoebe, who looks at her with confusion. "I saw heard her talking to Satan tonight." Julie informed her and Phoebe nodded in realization.
"Her being a witch does make sense." Phoebe realizes. "Yesterday I saw her eye color changed and Jack's eye color changed as well." She pauses for a few moments as she thinks and then she frowns. "Now that I think about it, I think she mind controlled him."
Eric sits up, looking at her with wide eyes. "Seriously?" Phoebe nods in response. Then Eric faces Julie with a smile. "So you saw that Millie slapped me?"
Julie nods. "Yeah."
Eric sighs. "Jack now thinks I tried stealing Millie from him since she made it seem like I tried to kiss her after she slapped me."
"Which you didn't." Julie points at him. "I saw the whole thing."
"She slapped you too?" Phoebe asked Eric with wide eyes.
"Me too? What-what do you mean?" Eric stammered, looking at her with concern.
Phoebe sighs, running a hand through her brunette hair. "She slapped me because I told her I would hurt her if she ever hurt Jack." She scoffs, crossing her arms. "Then she pretended that I pushed her and acted like she hurt her ankle. That's when she mind controlled Jack to make him not want to be my friend anymore."
"That's why things have been weird with you and Jack." Julie nodded in realization.
Phoebe sighs heavily, shaking her head. "How are we going to get him to realize that Millie isn't the one for him and that-"
Eric smiles teasingly at her and interrupts her question. "And that you are the one for him?"
"W-What?" Phoebe stutters, her face turning a bright wed as she looks at him with wide eyes. She wondered why he thought she meant that and if he knew she had a crush on Jack. "No!" She shakes her head, rolling her eyes. "Besides, I don't like him like that."
"Oh, please." Eric scoffs. "It's obvious you have a crush on him."
A panicked look forms on her face when she saw Julie nod in agreement. "Wait, so does Jack know?" She asked worriedly and didn't bother in denying it anymore.
"Nope." Eric replied.
Julie chuckles. "He doesn't know anything."
"Okay, good." Phoebe said in relief. "But I was going to say and how are we going to tell him that she's a witch?"
"Oh." Eric sheepishly smiles. "My bad." He frowns. "Yeah, I have no idea how we're going to do that."
****
The next day, Phoebe was leaning against the counter next to where Eric was sitting on the counter in his apartment, the two friends watching Millie's roommates help the blonde move in. Julie wasn't with Phoebe and the boys since she had a homework assignment due tomorrow she needed to finish. Phoebe had already finished her homework earlier which was why she was hanging out with the boys now.
Jack walks over to the counter, setting a box of Millie's stuff beside the empty space on the counter between Eric and the fridge. Eric shakes his head with a disappointing look on his face. "I can't believe you're letting her move in here."
"She's only staying for a few days, okay? She's having trouble with her roommates." Jack explained.
Phoebe raises her eyebrows, gesturing to Millie's roommates who were in the apartment. "Then why are they helping her move in if she's having trouble with them?"
"I don't know." Jack shrugged.
"Oh, what's the problem? They don't like evil?" Eric asked Jack with raised eyebrows. "She's a witch, Jack."
"Stop calling her names!" Jack told him with an upset look on his face.
Phoebe's eyes widen when she saw Millie set a cauldron on the counterspace beside where she was leaning against the counter. She then exchange a look with Eric. "You seeing what I'm seeing?"
"If you're seeing a cauldron then yes." Eric nodded.
Jack rolls his eyes. "It's Halloween. It sets the mood."
"Or," Phoebe drags out the word, warily glancing at the cauldron and steps away from it so she's not close to it. "She's an actual witch and that helps her use her evil powers."
"So, Rosemary," Phoebe looks over at Shawn when she heard him talking to one of Millie's roommates. "How's the baby?" Shawn asked. Rosemary rolled her eyes and walked away. Phoebe furrowed her eyebrows, confused about the interaction between them, but she just shook her head and decided not to say anything about it.
Jack puts his hands on his hips, looking at Eric. "Look, look, okay. We're gonna be living together." He puts a hand on Eric's shoulder. "Let's at least try to get along."
"Hey," Eric ignores his comment and nods at Millie. "Where's she's gonna sleep, her beloved balcony?"
Jack nods, taking his hand off Eric's shoulder to put both hands on his hips. "Actually yes."
Phoebe laughs in disbelief, crossing her arms. "And you don't find that strange at all?"
"Maybe a little strange." Jack admitted.
"Oh! You got yourself a good one there, Jack." Eric sarcastically commented, getting off the counter and started to head to the living room.
Jack then became defensive. "Get off my back, Matthews."
"You know something?" Eric turns to face Jack with an angered expression. "Fine. I'm off your back." He points at Jack. "I thought you and I were friends. I guess I was wrong. I'm just another name on your lease."
Phoebe watches Eric leave with a frown on her face. "Jack," She turns to face Jack with a worried look. "Look, we care about you. We don't want you to get hurt from your girlfriend who's obviously a witch."
Crossing his arms, Jack scoffs. "If you cared about me at all you wouldn't call my girlfriend a witch."
"She's a real witch!" Phoebe exclaims, throwing her arms in frustration. She couldn't believe Jack didn't believe her and Eric. "And she obviously has a spell on you and will probably use you in some way for her evil plan." She points at Jack. "Also, Eric didn't kiss Millie the other night. She slapped him and pretended that he tried to kiss her when you went out to the balcony. Julie saw the whole thing." Jack's eyes widened slightly when she said that.
"Wait, really?" Jack asked her, his shoulders dropping in defeat. He now felt a bit guilty for yelling at Eric for kissing his girlfriend.
"Yes." Phoebe nods. "And by the way, I never pushed her and she faked hurting her ankle. She also slapped me."
Jack's eyes widen with surprise. "So in my opinion," Phoebe continues. "You should break up with Millie because she's the one turning us all against each other." Jack stares at the floor as he processes all of this information. She sighs when she realized he wasn't going to say anything else to her. "I'll see you later, Jack."
****
Phoebe, Eric, and Julie came up with a plan to rescue Jack and Shawn. You might be wondering, why do they need to rescue Shawn? Because Millie was using them to become immortal. Yeah, that's right, she's sacrificing the brothers to be able to live forever.
Phoebe, Eric, and Julie knew about this plan because Phoebe and Julie heard it the other day when they left class. Some of Millie's roommates were in there talking about the plan. Phoebe assumed they were the only thought they were talking quiet enough so only they could hear, but Phoebe and Julie happened to be close enough to hear most of it.
The plan Phoebe, Eric, and Julie made was to dress up as a member of the coven, sneak into the party, and save Jack and Shawn. Phoebe just hoped that it wouldn't be too hard to save the Hunter brothers.
Millie had been explaining her and her coven's plan to Jack and Shawn, who were tied to the railing. She said the reason why she turned Jack and his friends against each other because she and her coven needed the balcony. Jack pointed out then there was no point for her to turn him and Phoebe and Julie against each other since the girls didn't live in the apartment, but Millie admitted that she never liked them.
There was a big crystal set up on the balcony that was glowing and Millie explained how from the exact spot on this balcony once in a thousand years Valaris will come into alignment, and Satan's tail will appear, sending a light beam through the crystal of death, ensuring Millie's and her coven's immortality and obliterating Jack and Shawn.
The coven all spoke 'ooh' in a spooky tone, waving their arms around the same way. Jack looks at his brother with annoyance when Shawn joined in with saying 'ooh'. "Shawn." Jack scolded.
"What?" Shawn sheepishly smiles. "It's starting to get fun again."
"It is written that in this very spot on this very night a hunter will be scarificed." Millie smirks at the brothers. "Two Hunters are even sweeter."
One of the coven members steps forward, pulling their hood down to reveal the person was Eric. "How about two Hunters and a Matthews?"
"And a Foster and Cantrell." Phoebe added, stepping forward the same time Julie did, pulling down her hood along with Julie.
Millie and the coven looks at the three of them with surprise along with Jack and Shawn. "Guys! You've come to save us!" Jack exclaimed with relief.
As Phoebe walks forward along with Eric and Julie, Millie looks at the three of them with anger. "They wouldn't know how to save you."
"As a matter of fact, we do blondie." Julie sassily told her while crossing her arms.
Eric nods in agreement. "Went to the bookstore last night." He smirks, holding up a book he was hiding. "Picked this up."
Millie looks at him with confusion. "'The Bridges of Madison County'?"
Phoebe exchange a confused look with Julie and the both look at Eric with furrowed eyebrows. "Where'd you even get that?" Julie asked him.
"Feeny." Eric replies and Julie nods in realization. He throws the book on a nearby table and then reveals another book he was hiding. "This is what I picked up." He smirks again, showing Millie the book. "'Witchcraft for dumb-dumbs.''
"Hey, that's a perfect book for us." Julie smiled.
Phoebe narrows her eyes at Julie, looking at her with offense. "You calling me a dumb-dumb?"
"Well, not entirely," Julie responds with a sheepish expression. "Just a dumb-dumb about witchcraft. Don't worry, 'cause Eric and I are also dumb-dumbs about witchcraft."
"Yep, think they mention a counterspell in here somewhere." Eric spoke, opening the book to search for the counterspell.
Phoebe looks around with confusion when she heard a clock chime. "It's too late." Millie smiles. "It's time for the sacrificial beam!"
Eric doesn't bother looking up, continuing to flip through the pages. "Yeah, just hold on a second there, Ishstar."
"Eric," Phoebe hisses at him. "Hurry up and find that spell." She didn't know how much longer before it was time when the sacrificial beam struck.
"I'm trying, Pheebs." Eric told her.
"Prepare to die the death of a thousand deaths!" Millie called out.
"I don't think anyone can prepare for that." Phoebe remarked.
"Ha! Here it is." Eric announced.
Phoebe and Julie watch with wide eyes, but Julie is the only one who gasped when suddenly a bright beam was shined from the crystal, directly hitting Eric's back.
Eric's eyes widen and he yelps in pain as he closes the book. "Ow! Hot! Hot! Hot!" Seconds later then the beam disappeared.
Millie looks at the crystal then back at Eric with disbelief. "That's impossible!"
"Clearly it's not since it just happened." Julie smiled, putting her hands on her hips.
"Yep." Eric smiles. "Sunscreen. S.P.F. 45." He tilts his head to the side. "Plus a little Zinc Oxide on my bum." He looks at the coven, raising his voice. "Maybe next time, Satan."
"Or how about never!" Phoebe quickly chimed in.
"Sorry, guys." Eric apologizes to the coven and the coven all groan in unsion. "Yeah, it's a shame." He pretends to sound sad, then he rolls his eyes. "Shut up. Come on. Everybody out! Scram!"
"Yeah, scram all of you evil witches!" Julie exclaims, gesturing for the coven to leave. "Shoo, shoo! You're not welcomed here."
Phoebe glares at Millie. "Especially you."
"Satan's children, be gone with you all! Come on!" Eric walked down the steps to the main floor of the apartment with Phoebe and Julie, the three of them making sure all the coven leaves. Eric set the book of 'witchcraft for dumb-dumbs' on a nearby table as Millie stood by Jack.
"It's too bad. You're cute. You're sweet. You'd been the perfect sacrifice." Millie smiled before she walked away.
"I appreciate that." Jack commented with a sad expression.
"Hey, Millie." Eric walks over to Millie, who stops by the door and turns to face him. He holds out his hand. "Keys."
Millie hands the set of keys Jack made for her to Eric. She goes to leave, but stops when Eric takes a step toward her. "You know, it's a shame you didn't fall for me." He smirks. "It could've been good." Millie then leaves the apartment. Julie rolls her eyes at what Eric said and walks over to Eric and hit the back of his head. He winces, rubbing his head and looks at her with confusion. "What?"
"That wasn't necessary to say." Julie told him.
Phoebe then began untying the rope that tied Jack's wrists to the railing. "Guys, when I saw that light beam, was that real?" Jack questioned, glancing at his friends with furrowed eyebrows.
"Jack, maybe it was, and maybe it wasn't." Eric replies dramatically. "There are some things just too big for our puny heads to comprehend." Jack smiled at Phoebe when she finished untying his hands and she smiled back at him.
"Well, it's still Halloween." Eric walks towards the door as Julie and Phoebe follow him. "The girls and I are gonna go find another party. Come on, Jack."
"Eric, wait." Jack calls out, stopping them from leaving and they turn to face him while he walks over to them. He looks at them with disbelief. "Even after all the rotten things I've said to you, you're still gonna invite me to come along?"
Eric smiles. "Of course, man." He pats his shoulder. "You're my friend."
Jack looks surprised. "Hm." He smiles. "well, I know that know." He looks at Phoebe with guilt and sadness in his eyes. "And Phoebe, you still wanna hang out with me even after I accused you of hurting Millie and said I never wanted to see you again?"
Phoebe smiles a bit. "Yeah, of course. I know that wasn't the real you."
"Well, I'm still sorry about it." Jack apologizes. "I didn't mean any of it."
"I know." Phoebe nodded, smiling softly.
"You're my friend too, you know." Julie chimes in. "Even though you just told me to keep being your neighbor instead of our friend."
Jack grimaces. "Yeah, I know. I'm sorry, Julie."
"It's okay." Julie smiled reassuringly at him. She looks at him with a stern expression and points at him. "You better be buying our meal though."
"Deal." Jack nodded with a smile on his face,
Shawn smiles, shaking his head. "You gotta love Halloween. It really brings people together."
"Oh!" Phoebe's eyes widen when she realized they all forgot to untie Shawn. She stops following her friends out the door Eric opened and walks back over to untie Shawn. She sheepishly smiles. "Sorry, Shawn. Almost forgot."
"It's okay." Shawn chuckles. He smiles a bit. "Thanks for coming back for me though."
"No problem." Phoebe smiled.
