Natsumi's pov
He was looking straight at me. It was like I was seeing an older version of him. He grew up so much. But his face.....it still holds that hatred for that woman. He's got a tattoo over the bite mark now. I smirked.
"I thought you weren't suppose to get tattoos until you were eighteen Zero. But of course I’m assuming you got it when you were twelve or so. Am I right?"
He regained focus and smirked.
"Around there or so. It's been awhile." I nodded.
"Yeah it has. I’m surprised you were able to deal with all these vampires. Especially that one over there."
I glanced at Kaname, who was examining us carefully.
"Zero, who is she?" The brown head girl asked.
I gave him a small shake of my head. It's not the right place to tell people.
"I’ll explain later. Right now we need to get Natsumi out of this ice."
He glared at Aido.
"Release her." He growled.
Aido smirked. "I don't have that power. It has to melt. Looks like she'll be staying a popsicle till morning."
That’s bull.
Zero was getting more pissed.
"Akatsuki...."
A tall vampire with orange spiky hair stood up.
"Melt the ice." Kaname ordered.
Akatsuki nodded.
I saw small flames begin to appear around me. The ice was disappearing. It was thin enough. I broke through the ice and stood up.
"I would've gotten the rest." Akatsuki said.
I picked my sword up. I stared at the frozen shurican.
"I’ll also need those back." I pointed at the object stuck in ice.
Akatsuki melted the ice. The shurican landed in Kaname's hand. He walked over and placed it in mine.
"Here you go."
I was thinking about throwing it at him then but decided not to. I have some catching up to do with Zero. I put it back in my pocket.
"Don't expect a thank you out of me. I don't show gratitude to your kind."
I swiftly turned around. I lifted my hand up and grabbed Zero's tie.
"Hey! Stop!"
I wasn't in the mood for his complaints.
"Just shut up. I need to talk to you."
I walked out of the room with Zero. Once we were out of the building and into a small forest, I let go. I leaned against a tree.
"So have you become a vampire, is that why your here? Did you just give up?!"
He said nothing.
"Zero! I’m being serious right now! I’m scared for your life and you won't even-"
A pair of arms wrapped around me silencing my voice. I was surprised at first. I looked up into Zero’s eyes, seeing a relief in them.
"I’ve missed you. I haven't seen you in so long. You've changed."
He let go and we both sat down.
"Well you have too. You sure are taller. Plus that tattoo. and...."
I walked closer to him and felt his ear.
"You got your ear pierced? Wow." He chuckled.
"You still have your sense of humor."
I laughed. "Of course. Who else would keep the laughter. But...."
My smile decreased and I turned all serious.
"If you haven't turned into a vampire then why are you here with these beasts? Don't tell me it's because you've forgiven them?"
He swung his arm at me and I dodged it.
"I’m a lot faster now Zero. I’ve been training these past years. But relax, I was only kidding. I know how you feel about the vampires. I.....feel like it's my fault you’re going to become one of them."
A tear escaped my eye. He wiped it away.
"You’re not to blame Natsumi. I’m glad you don't have to turn into a vampire."
Yes but aren't I a bad sister for making you suffer like this?
"Anyways, I’m only here to finish school and to protect the human students from the vampire students."
I tilted my head. "Human students?"
Zero went into this big talk about the head master's idea.
"That's insane! There's no way he can pull this off."
I crossed my arms. Zero patted my head.
"I’ve tried telling him that but he doesn't listen. Don't worry."
I sighed.
"Fine."
He rubbed his hand into my head.
"Stop that!"
I straightened my hair back.
"Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask you this...."
I looked up at him and he had a serious face. I knew exactly what he was going to say. I frowned.
"I haven't seen Ichiru or that woman Zero. I've tried searching for them too but there was never any leads. I finally got one on you and I followed on that."
He sunk his head. He and Ichiru were twins so he feels more for him. I do love Ichiru, he's my brother but Zero has a bond with him that can never be broken. I do miss Ichiru though. He and Zero were my heroes when I was younger. I was a lot different back then. Surprisingly, I loved vampires. I thought they were fun and caring creatures. My mother and father wanted me to be a vampire hunter but I refused. I met this vampire that was very kind and sweet to me.
Nobody even knows about this, not even Zero. It’s my darkest secret.
I encountered with this vampire in the forest, while playing. He was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. He never scared me one bit. Actually, he didn't hurt me either. We were friends. Every day, I snuck out in the forest to meet him. We played for hours. Once he brought a couple of his friends. They didn't hurt me either. They were all nice. I always played with this group forever that is until that woman came.

{flashback}
I was 7. Our family was having troubles for a few months. Mommy and daddy have been on so many hunting jobs. Our parents were actually packing our stuff, it was time for us to move again. Ichiru just left the house. Zero was concerned about him and so was I.
"Zero, is Ichiru coming back. I’m worried." I told him.
He gave a big hug, reassuring me.
"Don't worry, he'll be back."
I smiled.
Even though I never accepted being a vampire hunter, it didn't change the feelings I had. A sudden jolt went through my body. I looked back at Zero and my parents. They haven't felt it yet. Oh no, Ichiru. I grabbed my coat and ran out of the house.
"Natsumi!" I heard mommy said.
I ran out and stepped into the snowy night. I stopped some ways from my house door. I could still see my house light and even inside the place but I wasn't really close to the door. A few feet in front of me was a gorgeous vampire. At first I was happy. I smiled.
"Hello there vampire. It's nice to meet you."
Her smile was beautiful.
"You sensed me before your parents and even your brother. You are such a pretty girl."
She walked up to me.
"What is your name child?"
I giggled. "Natsumi. What's yours?"
"Shizuka."
I stared at her in awe.
"You’re pretty miss Shizuka." she slightly smiled.
I saw something drop from her face. I tilted my head.
"Hey, you’re crying. Is something wrong?"
She knelt down to me. I held her face in my hands. I wiped the tears away.
"Why are you crying? Is it because you met me?"
She laughed a little.
"Natsumi!"
I turned around and saw Zero.
"Zero....."
The scene in front of him wasn't good. Mommy and daddy ran out here. They both gasped.
"Shizuka!"
Daddy and mommy had their weapons out.
"Shizuka, step away from my daughter right now!!" mommy yelled.
Why are they trying to hurt her? Shizuka is harmless. She's a wonderful woman. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around me. I felt a finger slide under my neck.
"One move and she's gone."
Shizuka's voice was more rough but still graceful.
"Shizuka?" I mumbled in confusion.
"You have a powerful daughter Kuriyu. I might have to take her for my own."
Shizuka’s head got closer to mine.
"Don't! Stop it!"
I saw Zero running towards us. At the last second, Zero pushed me out of the way. I heard a small nip. I looked up through the snow in my eyes and saw Shizuka’s fangs dug into Zero's neck.
"ZERO!"
{end of flashback}
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Natsumi?"
I stared up at a worried Zero. I’m spacing out again. Got to be careful with that around Zero. I smirked.
"Oh it's nothing."
"Zero!"
That same brown head girl dropped from a tree.
"Zero, you shouldn't go off like that on patrol."
She looked at me and bowed.
"Hi I’m Yuki Cross. Who are you?"
I smiled. "I’m Natsumi. It's nice to meet you."
She nodded. "Likewise, now we should go and tell the head master about your arrival."
I shrugged. "Might as well, I want to tell him off anyways."
Yuki and Zero lead me to the head master's office. The first thing I saw was a blonde haired man sitting in a chair. He had glasses and a green scarf around his neck.
"You must be the girl who almost killed my precious vampires."
His eyes lit up when he said vampires.
I frowned.
"Head master I would advise you not to say things like that in front of Natsumi." Zero informed.
Both Yuki and the head master looked up at Zero. The head master stared back down at me and saw my scowl. A sweat dropped form on his head.
"I’m sorry. Do you know about vampires?"
I nodded.
"Yes sir and I feel that you are making a big mistake doing this. Humans and vampires shouldn't live together. Vampires should be hunted down by the vampire hunters."
I kept my fists clenched.
"Natsumi, why are you so angry with vampires?" Yuki asked.
I looked down. Thoughts flashed in my head.
"I’d rather not say. But anyways, what's my punishment? I feel like I have to have some consequences for breaking in and trying to kill a vampire."
The head master smiled.
"Yes and I have figured your punishment. You must stay here and attend the academy."
