Goodnight
Fable explored the room, her emotions telling Dream everything without words. She was curious and nervous. She didn't seem to understand that she was a prisoner, though she knew that nothing good would come of staying here... for a moment, Dream wondered if she actually knew how to say anything but her name. It wasn't like she had anyone to teach her, and yet... neither did Dream and Nightmare. They just... knew. Perhaps it was her preference to stay quiet, or perhaps her birth was something to do with it... their mother was dead... or was she supposed to be. Fable was... an enigma. He didn't know how she came to be, only that she was, and he wouldn't fail his sibling again. Dream walked over to the bed and patted the dark sheets. "fable?" He called to her softly. Fable turned from her reflection on a vanity and ran over to Dream. Dream helped her to climb up onto the big bed and sat beside him with wide, curious eyelights. He smiled a little, in spite of himself. "i want you to stay close, ok? you might get hurt otherwise." Fable nodded, understanding flowing through her magic. "good..." Dream replied with a smile.

Before long, they were trying to sleep. A child Fable's age needed naps, but she refused to lay down unless Dream laid down with her. So here they were, Dream flat on his back with a Sleeping Fable half on his chest and half off. Her arm was more-or-less drooped over his face, which he'd tried to move, only for her to move it back. Dream couldn't help smiling. She felt at peace, and Dream was certainly making sure they were good. Despite the semi uncomfortable sleeping position, he found himself in, Dream could feel his sockets going heavy and fluttering closed. She was safe... safe with him... it didn't feel like long before he was waking back up, yawning and sitting up as he rubbed the sleep out of his sockets. "fable... did you sleep well, kiddo?" When he felt no responding emotion, he started to panic and look around. "fable? fable! now isn't the time for hide and seek!" He searched the room, top and bottom to no avail. He knew the moment he didn't feel her that she was out there... with Nightmare. Had he failed his little sister too?

The skeleton with the exposed soul didn't respond to her magic like the other had. Fable felt like her magic was being met with a hard wall of numbness that she didn't quite understand. He took her to the one that tried to hurt her before. He sat with a professional aire about him, but she felt malicious intent. This time there would be nobody to stop him from hurting her. She knew the numb one wouldn't do anything to save her. "here's the brat, as you asked." She flinched away from his cold tone. In a last ditch effort, she started to flare out her magic in waves, coveying her fear and stress. The goopy skeleton scowled and dragged her onto the ground by the foot. She yelped as she collapsed. "enough of that! no one is coming to save you..." He looked to the emotionally numb skeleton. "you're dismissed, killer." The skeleton left, closing the door behind him. Leaving her alone. She tried to back away as sharpened tendrils pointed at her, but the one was still holding her in place. "goodnight, little brat." His tendrils shot forward and Fable screamed.
