A minute of peace.

Evelyn and the triplets had been collared with electroshock collars and put in straight jackets. Azazel was setting on fire any aliens that came into his cell. A fierce growl left my lips and my powers started to surround my hands. "Hands off."

I sent a bolt of psionic energy into the chest of one of the aliens that went to come towards me. I slammed the guards into the wall repeatedly until their blood stained the walls, not feeling any remorse as I did it. I wiped a bit of alien blood off my face and walked towards the cells. Then the ship started to shake. It was a familiar shaking. We had jumped. We had portaled to another point in space. I threw my arms into the air, immediately regretting it.

"Great. We are now stranded in space." I muttered, clutching my ribs.

The kids still looked confused. "What just happened?" Elias asked.

"We, my friend, just portaled to another place in space. Hey, look at that... I could be a poet."

 "Mom, focus." he said.

"Yeah, yeah." I mumbled making my powers surround their collars.

I counted down from 3 under my breath. "...3...2...1..."

I threw my hands to my sides as the collars broke, falling to tiny pieces of metal. Rawiri and Elias automatically tried to bring their hands to their necks to massage them but couldn't because of the straightjacket. I told them to stand up and turn around in their plastic see-through cells. They all stood and waited as my magic surrounded the buckles at the back. I moved my hands a little and the buckles came undone. They instantly started to shrug off the movement restrictors and stretched and cheered. They were cut off by an alarm resounding throughout the ship followed by a voice on what seemed to be an intercom. We looked at Knox who translated "They are looking for you." he said looking at me. I huffed and crossed my arms.

"Okay, here's how it's gonna go down. Evelyn: You need to put as many metal things in here as you can against doors and windows to barricade them.

Rawiri, See if you can weld the metal to the door and floor to try and stop them. Hopefully they won't be able to get past a welded door.

Knox: You are going to protect us with force fields.

Elias: You are going to control their minds and Rawiri is going to blind them with bright light. If worse comes to worse... we give up and turn ourselves in. I don't want any of you getting hurt. You got that? Protect each other but no heroics. Don't do anything stupid or unnessasary. While you do that, I am going to break out Azazel."

They nodded and got to work. I walked over to Azazel's cage and tried touching the door handle. I let out a scream at the sudden surge of electricity that filled my body. Everyone instantly stopped what they were doing and tried to make their way over to me.

"I'm fine." I ground out. "I'm good."

They nodded and slowly backed off. "Let's try this again." I said to myself.

I raised my hand to the door and let a stream of electricity hit it. I was trying to short circuit it. I felt the door start to glitch, but it wasn't quite there. I raised my other hand and let out another stream. The locks popped and the door swung open. However, the lights in the room had started to flicker before going out all together. I grumbled under my breath before making a stream of friendly fire slither through the room.

The room instantly illuminated and shadows danced across the walls. "Beautiful." Elias mumbled under his breath watching it slither around the room. Up walls and around obstacles. For a few seconds we just watched it. There was something so hypnotizing about watching fire. It felt like you could watch it for hours and never get tired. It was soothing. But it wasn't for long. There was banging and foreign sounds filling the outside of the room. They were here. My powers started to expel from my hands and my clothes shifted into something else.

Suddenly the welded door burst open and the room flooded with aliens. All sorts. Not just the beasts that we had seen invade Earth. They were all tall. The beasts were shorter but the others were literally 10 ft tall.

They all rushed over to us and looked around the room. Azazel was breathing smoke from his nose and into their faces, Rawiri had light ready to expel from his hands, Knox had forcefields in front of us, Elias had shifted into a blue and red Phoenix and Evelyn had the metal floating around us in a circle. A barrier between us and them.

I let my magic surround me as the Alpha walked into the room. He looked around and stared at me curiously. A fierce growl left my lips and I shot a ball of psionic energy at him. It hit him right in the stomach, sending him flying backwards and into the wall. The beasts were quick to draw their weapons and charge at us. Rawiri let some light expel from his hands and illuminate the room. The kids and I turned away quickly so we wouldn't be affected. He stopped and we looked at the beasts in amusement as they stumbled around to try and get their bearings. Evelyn slammed the bits of metal at them, knocking them into the wall. Anyone who dodged was hit with balls of psionic energy. The Alpha conjured a gun looking thing in his hand and pointed it at Elias. He pulled the trigger and I stood helpless as the thing inside the gun hit him and he slumped to the floor, unconscious.

"No!" I shouted and ran towards him.

Elias shifted back into a human instantly. So did Azazel.

The other kids stopped what they were doing and followed my actions, running towards him. I slumped to the floor next to him and rolled him onto his back, taking a pulse. It was there and it was beating normally. It was going at a rate which would suggest he was in a deep sleep. I let out a breath of relief and my shoulders sagged.

"He's okay." I whispered. "He's okay."

The other kids sighed in relief and slumped to the ground. The leader of the beasts went to make his way towards us but I put a shield around us before he could come anywhere near my kids.

He looked a little hurt by that. I ignored him and focused on Elias. I heard a faint knocking on the shield. I turned around and looked at him raising my eyebrows.

"Unless you want that, or worse to happen to your other kids, I suggest you come with me." he blackmailed, smirking a little.

"How dare he."  Ivy seethed. I was undoubtedly in agreement.

But he was right. He had power beyond anything I had seen. I couldn't risk the lives of my other kids. While we were here, we would have to play it safe. Until such time as we could get away, we needed to try not to get killed. Even if that mean staying on this jerk's good side.

"Fine..." I grumbled taking down the shield.

"Mom, w-what are you doing?" Rawiri asked.

"Keeping you safe." I picked up Elias using my metal arm and slung him over my right shoulder, keeping a firm grip on him with my metal arm. My ribs were killing me.

"Lead the way." I said, nodding at the jerk in front of me.

We were led through a series of twists and turns. I memorised all of them. The jerk was in the front, me and my kids in the middle and the human/animal warriors were following up on our flank. Finally we stopped inside of a room. The warriors brushed in front of us and stepped on their individual platforms with a symbol for each warrior etched above them and waited. The jerk took the one straight in front of us, with the warriors on each of his sides.

"Please." he said, gesturing to the empty platforms.

The kids looked warily at me. I nodded and ushered them to a platform each. I placed Elias on one in-between Azron and Rawiri and took the only one left. Jerk-face looked around and made sure that we were all on the platforms before pressing some buttons on a control panel next to him. The next sensation I felt made me want to puke. We were falling. And fast. We were sliding down a tube to the planet below us. I heard a scream and looked to my right and saw Evelyn screaming her lungs out and arms flailing everywhere. Azron and Rawiri looked to fearful and sick to let anything escape from their mouths. I let out a laugh and a "Woohoo!!" slip through my lips.

This. was. AWESOME!!!!

"YEAH!!! WHOO!!" I cheered.

We somehow had started to slow down. I pouted and rolled my eyes. I liked fast. I really liked fast. Fast cars, Fast and Furious, fast planes, fast animals... You know, when I was little, in an attempt to speed up my racing snail, I took off the shell to improve aerodynamics. Didn't work. If anything it just made him more sluggish. Get it? Sluggish? Slugs have no shells? Here is a pic of a slug to make your day a little bit more gross.

Where was I going with this? Oh yeah, we were slowing down in the tubes. That sucked. We slowed down until we stopped all together. The tube slid open and we were met with a beautiful sight. A field was in front of us that was a Saturn look alike and little blue glowy things floating all around us. The Saturn look-alike had a bright blue cloud thing surrounding it.

"That planet," I said, pointing to the Saturn look-alike in front of us. "What's its name?"

The jerk looked at me.

"Falsum Illusio. It's Latin for-"

"False illusion." I breathed interrupting him. "We call it Illu." (A/N: Pronounced: ill-you)

"What about this place?"

"A locus tenebrosus. Translated it means: A shadowy place. The locals call it tenebro."

I nodded and grabbed Elias slinging him over my shoulder, biting my tongue to stop myself from screaming in pain. Yeah, not gonna happen. I gently lowered him to the floor and used my telekinetic powers to make him float alongside us.

"Let's go. I want to be home before nightfall." Jerk-face said.

I rolled my eyes at him and let him lead the way. The gravity on this planet felt different. I did a small jump and ended up floating.

"Whoa..." I chuckled.

"The gravity here is different to what you're used to. The ground is solid, but if you jump off of it, you will float until you can plant your feet on the ground again." I did a series of twists and turns and backflips before the other kids started to join me. One by one they leapt into the air and shoved each other, laughing.

For a minute there was laughter.

For a minute I forgot my past.

For a minute I was filled with joy.

For a minute I was smiling.

For a minute I was at peace.
