Kino's POV – Auradon Prep, Gardens

The microphones were being shoved into my face by some nosy reporters that had gotten into the garden and corned me.

"Kino, please, over here! Kino!

"Only three days to the Royal Cotillion. Ever think a girl like you would be Lady of the Court?"

"How does it feel to be the most envied girl in Auradon?"

"Well, do you like being blonde?"

"Is your mother still a lizard?"

"Okay. All right. Excuse me. Uh, we will let you know if and when that particular situation changes." Said Mal walking up to me.

"Mal, did you ever think you'd ever be anything more than just a girl from the isle?"

Mal gave a sour laugh and said, "We're done here."

She pulled me behind the beast statue as Fairy Godmother addressed the reporters. "Okay. Shush, shush. Shoosh, shoosh. Shoosh, shoosh. This is still a school, so if you're here, you're either skipping or trespassing."

"Just one quick question."

"Shush. Shush."

"Fairy Godmother!"

"Shhh. Shhh. Shhh." She swept them away and we emerged from behind the statue. "Thank you, guys. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."

"Whew. "I said wiping fake sweat from my brow

"Don't pay any attention to them" Said Mal

"Well, that's a lot easier said than done" I laughed in the most sarcastic way possible. Her phone buzzed in her pocket and her eyes widened as she saw the message. "I have a council meeting. I'm so late."

"It's ok really."

"Ok we'll catch up soon" 

"Just go to your meeting and tell Oscar is said hi" At that moment Evie ran up and pulled me away. "If we don't do a fitting for your gown right now, you will be dancing in your bathrobe. Ok, let's go, let's go."

"Bye Mal"

"Bye Kino"

As I ran away the reporters hoarded around Mal and I mouthed sorry at her before Evie dragged me off.

Kino's POV – Evie's Dorm / Dressing Room

Evie had a dorm to herself with all the dressmaking business she was doing so most of her room was taken up with sewing machines and dresses. Mal's dress was on a mannequin in the corner and my dress was almost an exact replica of hers but mine cut of just above my knees. They both had the same yellow and blue design. I Wonder whether Evie would have made this dress if we had stayed on the Isle. I was jerked out of my thoughts by Evie pulling on the laces of the corset part of my dress "Oh. Ok, Evie, I cannot breathe."

"Well, you can breathe after Cotillion."

"I sincerely doubt that. I have at least 20 more events directly behind it, and I can't even remember what a single one of them is." Evie stood back and studied my dress. She finally blew a kiss and said "Impeccable"

"Evie"

"Yeah"

"Do you ever think about what we'd be doing if we were back on the Isle right now?" Evie let out a laugh. "Ha. That's Funny." She looked at the TV and Squealed. "Look who's on TV"

"As the royal couples continued their tour of the kingdom, they dined with Aladdin and Jasmine. Six months ago, no one thought King Ben, Prince Oscar and their girlfriends from the wrong side of the bridge would last." The reporter on the TV stated

"Yeah. No kidding." I jumped as I remembered what I was going to do earlier before the reporters cornered me. I jumped on the bed and grabbed my spell book from my bag. My mother gave Mal and me one each before we let the isle. "Kino and Mal must be counting the days until the Royal Cotillion... when they will officially become Ladies of the Court." I wished that stupid TV reporter would shut up. Her squeaky voice was starting to get to my head. I opened the book to the right page and read the spell, "Read it fast at lightning speed. Remember everything I need." I picked up an etiquette book I was supposed to read and started flicking through the pages. Evie noticed what I was doing and shut the book I was 'reading'. "I know Kino's secret to fitting in and Ben, Oscar and especially Mal would not like it"

"E, you remember what I was like before I started using my spell book. I mean, I was a complete mess."

"Well personally as one of your best friends I strongly believe that your spellbook – " She pulled the spell book out of my lap before I could grasp at it. "– belongs in the museum with my mirror and Mal's book. Don't give me the face. Put the pout away. Mm-hmm. You know I'm right." She walked back to her sewing machine and stayed there for a few minutes until I asked: " You don't ever miss running wild and just breaking all the rules?"

"Like stealing and lying and fighting?"

"Yeah!"

"No!"

"What!"

"Why would we? Ki, come here. Look at where we are. We're in Auradon! And we're Auradon girls now."

"Since Kino and Mal revealed their love of strawberries, they have received hundreds of cartons from their admirers. Here they are enjoying a cozy bite..." said the TV announcer in her squeaky voice

Evie squealed and hugged me "See, this is the land of opportunity. We can be whatever we want to be here. So, please, let's just leave the past in the past, okay? Besides, I mean, look at the shoes." She held up a pair of killer heels "Look at them."

"Mm. Severe." I muttered.
