I stood at the front door, watching Alec's car drive away, with my mouth open. 

What does that mean? Does he like me? Doesn't he? Why does he have to be so confusing!?

I groaned in frustration as I closed the door. I walked slowly back into the lounge to find Gran and Pa to say goodnight to them. I found Pa sitting on the recliner, Gran nowhere to be seen. 

"She's gone to bed. She is exhausted," Pa answered my unspoken thoughts, and I smiled at how well he knew me. 

"Oh, okay. Well goodnight Pa!" I replied, then turned to leave. 

I walked slowly up the stairs and down the hall to my room. I opened my door and walked to my bed, flopping down on the covers, too tired to get into my pyjamas. 

I lay my head on my pillow and put my hands under my pillow. 

Hmm, that's strange. There's something there. 

I lifted my head off the pillow and pulled out a slightly crumpled piece of paper. 

'Tamsin', it had scribbled on the front in Alec's neat script. 

Curious, I opened the envelope quickly and scanned the words written on the page, expecting more than there was. 

I stared at the three words on the page, not willing to believe them. 

He is such an idiot...

I put the note back in the envelope and slid it into one of the draws beside my bed. 

I lay my head back on my pillow, trying to ignore the headache that was forming at my temples as I fell asleep. 

I woke up at 4am and looked around my dark room. 

Why do I have to wake up so early???

I checked my phone and of course, I had a text from Alec. 

'Did you like my note ;) ' It read, and I rolled my eyes. 

'You are such an idiot!' I replied, not expecting a reply straight away, as it was four o'clock in the morning. 

I was just about to put my phone back on my bedside table when the screen lit up with another text message.

'Yes, I am. What are you doing up?' Alec's text said. 

'I don't know? I just woke up and am now going back to sleep!' I texted back, holding my phone in my hands now that I knew he was awake. 

My phone buzzed and I looked at it, my eyelids getting heavier and heavier by the second. 

'Well that makes sense. Goodnight Tamsin xx' He replied and my heart jumped at the sight of the 'xx' on the end. 

Damn, that boy is confusing. 

'You confuse me.' I replied, not thinking about what I was saying. 

I put my phone on my bedside table and drifted off to sleep again. 

"Tamsin," Gran's soft voice interrupted my dream, and I slowly opened my eyes. 

"Mmh?" I mumbled, closing my eyes again, settling deeper into my bed. 

"I just wanted to let you know that we are going out for the afternoon. Would you like to come? If not you can just stay here," Gran informed me, and I sighed. 

"Sorry Gran, I can't be bothered..." I trailed, feeling bad. 

"That's okay! Don't worry about it! We will be back by tea, bye," Gran replied, leaving my room. 

I decided that I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep, so I picked my laptop off the floor and started watching a movie.

I put my laptop at the end of my bed and grabbed my phone. 

Holy shit! It was 2pm!!! I slept in!!

My eyes widened as I saw the time, and again when I saw a text from Alec. 

'How do I confuse you?' It read, and I struggled to remember what he was talking about. My mind flashed back to the conversation we'd had this morning, and smiled at the thought. 

'I don't know, you just do!' I responded, settling back into bed to watch my movie. 

My phone started playing 'Borrow My Heart' and I smiled. 

That was Alec's ringtone. 

"Ya?" I questioned, wondering why he was calling me. 

"What? No hi Alec? No how are you? Just 'ya'? I'm hurt!" Alec ranted, and I laughed at him. 

"Sorry. Hi Alec, how are you? What do you want?" I asked, still laughing. 

"Poor effort Tam," he replied, and I rolled my eyes as I pictured him smirking right now. 

"Alec? I'm watching a movie here. What do you want?" I repeated.

"Fine! I just wanted to know how I confuse you," Alec simply stated, earning a sigh from me. 

"I already said I don't know!" I exclaimed, confused and slightly frustrated with this phone call. 

"Ya, you do. You just don't want to tell me. Was it because of what I said last night when I was leaving?" He asked, probably smirking again. 

"Fine. Yes, it is about that. Now I'm going to watch a movie. Bye!" I rushed, about to hang up the phone. 

"No Tam! Wait!" Alec groaned, and I put the phone back to my ear. 

"Sorry to confuse you. But I'll un-confuse you in person okay?" He continued, and I nodded, forgetting that he couldn't see me. 

"Okay, bye!" I replied, hanging up the phone and putting it on my bedside table, watching the movie. 

Monday went by quickly, but that was probably because I was distracted all day. By Alec. 

Ugh, did that guy have to take up all my brain capacity???

On Tuesday morning I woke up feeling weak and dizzy. 

I ignored that, and the headache forming in my temples, and drove to school with Liam beside me. 

When we got to school, Alec was waiting for my outside the building, as he always did now. 

"That's fine, go see your boyfriend. Don't say goodbye to me!" Liam joked, putting a hand over his heart, fake-hurt. 

"HE IS NOT MY BOYFRIEND!" Was all I replied, and walked to a smiling Alec. 

"Ya, but you wish I was!" Alec stated, and I groaned in protest. 

"Shut up!!" I said, stretching the 'u'.

"Hmm. Let me think about that... No!" He smirked, and we walked into class together. 

The day went by quickly again, the pain in my temple a constant throbbing. 

I was relieved when it was time to go home. 

I walked to my locker to get my books. I closed my locker and turned to face a smiling Alec a few steps in front of me. 

"Hey," I greeted, and he replied the same. 

We conversed all the way to the parking lot, talking about nothing important. 

He hugged me, as he always did now, then turned to walk towards his car.

I was still feeling dizzy, so I let Liam drive home. 

I got out of the car and started walking toward the front door, my vision going all strange. 

"Are you okay?" Liam asked, but I couldn't see his face. 

Everything went black.
