Long Gone and Moved On (chapter 10)

I woke up to my cellphone flashing on the end of my bed.

It was Bronte.

"Bronte, really? It's six in the morning, and you are calling me!!! Are you trying to annoy me?" I greeted her, rubbing my eyes.

"Hi to you too!" She replied sarcastically, and I could see her rolling her eyes.

"What I called for was to say that Dahlia and I are going shopping for dresses to wear on Saturday night for the party, so we were wondering if you wanted to come? If you're not busy playing with your new boy toy. But ya.. Mase is coming too. After we all get dresses we are going to get some music. Are you in?"

"Seriously? You felt the need to add that? HE IS NOT MY BOY TOY!" I exclaimed, then continued. "But ya, I'll come. See you at school."

I didn't wait for her reply, so I got out of bed and went downstairs in my p.j's, knowing I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep.

Grandma and Pa were sitting at the kitchen table, Pa reading the newspaper and Gran doing the crossword from the newspaper. I smiled at them as I got myself a glass of water.

"Why are you up so early?" Pa asked, his eyes moving away from his newspaper.

"Bronte called and for some reason it couldn't wait until later..." I trailed, annoyed that I was up so early.

Both of my grandparents laughed.

"Hey, do you mind if I go shopping with my world tonight? There's a party on Saturday night and the girls want to get new dresses," I asked, drinking from my water as I took a seat next to Gran.

"No, I don't mind..." Gran trailed, looking happy that I was spending time with friends.

"I feel bad though... I haven't been home much. Are you sure you don't mind?" I asked again. I really did feel bad about not spending time with them.

"Tamsin. You're enjoying yourself, you're always smiling, and you don't cry as much anymore. Whoever you are spending time with is making you happy and your parents would have wanted that. They wouldn't want you to be sad. These people are making you happier, and seeing you happy makes us happy," Pa said, just as Gran was about to speak.

"Took the words right out of my mouth..." Gran trailed, smiling lovingly at Pa.

I smiled at both of them, thanked them. Then went back upstairs to have a shower and get dressed.

I dressed in my dark blue jeans and my white singlet, as the sun was shining. I let my hair dry into loose curls that fell down my back, then looked at the clock.

It was 7:45am, and I was all ready to go to school.

I fell back on my bed, and checked my phone. There was a message from Bronte, annoyed because I hung up on her. There was another from Mase, asking what I was up to; that was from yesterday afternoon. And there was one from a number that I didn't have.

I frowned at that, and opened it.

"My brother and sister want you to come over again, so do you want to come over on Sunday?"  It read, and I knew it was from Alec.

That was strange... How did he have my number?

I didn't think too much about it and replied, "Sounds good."

I looked around my room for something to do, and saw my sketch book.

I smiled and picked it up off the floor, heading back to my bed. I got a greyled pencil out of my bedside table, and started to draw an eye.

I didn't even have to look at it to know who's eye I was drawing.

Seriously! Could I please spend one minute not thinking about him???

I finished and pinned it on my board above my bed. I looked at all my other drawings I had on the board, then down to my clock.

It was 8:15am, so I went back downstairs and talked with my family.

I arrived at school a few minutes before the bell rang, and went straight to my locker.

"No hello?" A familiar voice asked behind me, and I didn't have to turn around to know that it was Alec's.

I just laughed at him, and we walked to class together.

My teacher let us out early, so I was one of the first people in the cafeteria at lunch. I went to sit at our usual table, and sat down at the end of it, not planning on being a part of the conversation.

The first person to the table, other than me, was Seth, and I was happy to see him.

"Hey Seth, how are you going?" I asked, smiling at the thought that he and Bronte were together.

"I'm really good... you?" He replied, taking a sip of water from his bottle.

"I'm good too," I said, expecting the conversation to stop there.

"Would that have anything to do with a certain guy?" Seth smirked smugly.

"It may... Do you know something?" I asked suspiciously. If Bronte told him I would be pissed.

"Yeah, actually I do. I know that you like someone and won't tell Alec, and I know that Bronte knows who you like but she's not telling me," he frowned.

"Seth! Shuuut uuup! Yeah I do like someone, what does it matter to you?" I asked, not wanting to continue this conversation.

The cafeteria was filling up more and more as we talked, and I didn't want anyone overhearing us.

"It matters because it is my job to find out!" Seth replied, but seemed as though he regretted saying that.

"If I tell you will you swear on your life you won't tell anyone?" I asked, looking around to see if anyone was in hearing distance.

"I swear! But can I guess? Because I'm pretty sure I know who it is..." He trailed, and I was concerned. If he knew, then was it obvious to everyone else?

"Uh, I guess?" I replied, really worried. But I didn't have to be for long, as all of a sudden, Alec, Taylor and Mase sat down, Alec across from me.

"Tam! How are you?" Alec asked, seeming especially happy for some reason.

"I'm good..." I trailed, looking over to Seth who was raising his eyebrows and asking a question silently.

He knew.

Damn it!

I nodded my head slightly and he screamed, "I WAS RIGHT!"

"Oh my god Seth shut up!" I scolded, and hid my face in my hands.

"What are you talking about?" Alec asked confused. Confusion looked good on him, although I think anything would look good on him.

"Nothing!" I replied quickly, before Seth could say anything.

It was the last class of the day, English, which I had with Alec. I smiled to myself as I walked across the school to class, and sat down in an empty seat near Alec and Bronte.

Mrs. Peak began her lecture when I sat down, so I didn't have any time to talk to Alec and Bronte.

I pulled at my singlet, trying to make it look okay. A few seconds later a note landed on my desk. I turned around to see where it had come from, Alec, of course.

'You look great! Stop fidgeting!' It read, and I turned around and smiled at him, before tucking the note in my back pocket.

I walked to Mase's car with him, and we drove together to the mall.

"You like Alec, right?" Mase asked, as he got onto the main road that led to the shops.

"Ya..." I trailed, and Mase smiled at me.

"You two are going to be so cute together!" He replied, and I turned to look at him.

"What's that look for?" He questioned, moving his eyes back to the road.

"It's never going to happen Mase, why does everyone think it will?" I sighed, hoping that they had even a small chance of being right.

"Because I am pretty sure it will! You hang out basically every day, and you are really good friends and you joke around a lot. Oh and he talked to me about you yesterday after you left his house..." Mason smirked evilly, and I gasped.

"WHAT?!?!? And you only wait until now to tell me? What did he say?" I asked, realising how pathetic I sounded.

"He just said that you're awesome and hot and that he was trying not to jump you," Mase laughed, and I hit his arm.

"THAT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY MASE!" I scolded, looking out the window.

"You know I'm just joking. No, we were actually talking about your insecurities. He still can't believe how you can be so insecure because, as he put it, 'It's Tamsin! She is like perfect!' Wow he is so pathetic sometimes," He rolled his eyes, and my eyes bulged.

I didn't let Mase see that though, as we pulled into the parking lot of the mall.

Alec thought I was 'like perfect'!!!!

We were in the third shop, all of us trying on dresses. Mason was sitting on the couch outside the change rooms, waiting to give us his thoughts.

I was trying on my fifth dress, a white one with a fitted bodice that flowed out at the waist. The back of the dress was cut lower than I would usually wear, but it made my eyes stand out and my hair look lighter.

I peeked out of the curtain of the dressing room to see Bronte in her red dress, twirling in front of Mase and Dahlia. And Dahlia was wearing a dark blue dress that hugged her figure tightly. Both dresses looked amazing.

I stepped out of the room and everyone stopped what they were doing to look at me.

"You're getting that," Dahlia stated, leaving no room for arguments.

"Ya, Alec will all but jump you if you wear that. Heck, he might even jump you!" Bronte smirked, and I walked over and hit her.

"I completely agree with Bronte..." Mase trailed, smirking up at me from where he sat.

"Seriously, stop! Okay, I admit I like him, maybe a little too much. But can you guys just stop?" I asked, frustrated, as I turned around and walked back into the dressing rooms to get my normal clothes back on.

The dress did look good though. Ya, I was definetly buying that!

Once we had all bought our dresses, we headed to a shoe shop. Where Dahlia was trying to talk me into wearing heels.

"I don't get why I can't just wear my blue converse! They will look fine!" I tried to say, but Dahlia put her hand up to stop me.

"No you can't! That is like a crime against fashion! You will not wear your converse and that is final! Just try these on!" Dahlia put a pair of coral wedges into my hands, and I sighed as I took a seat to try them on. They were'nt very high, but I wasn't used to heels, so I felt uncomfortable.

I ended up buying the heels, glad to finally be going to shop for something I actually wanted... CD's!!!

We spent an hour in the CD shop, looking at all the different CD's. I ended up buying four, Mase two, and Dahlia and Bronte one each.

As we walked out of the shop, a very attractive boy caught my attention. I turned to see who it was, and it was Alec.

"Speak of the devil..." Mase trailed smirking, Miss D and Bronte along with him.

"Seriously guys?" I asked, as Alec approached us.

"Hey! What are you guys doing here?" He asked, as he came within hearing distance.

"Buying dresses for Saturday and making Tam buy heels!" Bronte squealed in delight, and Alec raised his eyebrows.

"Ya... I didn't have a choice. What are you doing here?" I replied, hoping to get the attention off me.

Mason, Bronte and Dahlia were staring at us like we were having the most interesting conversation in the world.

"Ally and Sam dragged me here to help them find a good present for Mom for her birthday, but they ditched me to go get food..." He trailed, and I burst laughing, I couldn't help it.

"What's so funny?" Alec questioned me, the confused look appearing on his face again.

"It just seems like something they would do... I don't know it's just funny. When's your mum's birthday?" I asked.

"It's Monday," he replied, seeming happy in the moment.

"Well wish her happy birthday for me! Oh wait, I can do that on Sunday!" I smiled, remembering that I was going over to his house again.

"Yeah, you can. Anyway, I better go find Ally and Sam before they leave without me," Alec laughed, but then I saw the two aformentioned people sneaking up on him.

I tried not to smile, helping Sam and Ally scare him.

"I doubt they would do that! They're not that mean..." I trailed, as Sam winked at me, and both him and Ally jumped on Alec.

Alec screamed like a little girl, then went on punching his brother on the arm.

"Thanks Tamsin! I thought you were going to rat us out!" Sam said, Ally laughing beside him.

"I couldn't do that! The look on his face was priceless!" I laughed, Ally, Sam, Bronte, Dahlia and Mase along with me.

"Anyway, we have to get going. I'll see you tomorrow Alec! Bye Sam, bye Ally!" I said, and Ally hugged me goodbyem Sam just waved and he looked at Alec strangely.

The four of us walked away, and I turned to look at them one last time. They all seemed deep in discussion, when suddenly they looked my way all at the same time.

I blushed and looked away, Mason, Bronte and Dahlia staring at me.

"What?!?" I exclaimed, starting to get annoyed with them, but I was too happy to be annoyed.

"Seriously? You didn't notice anything strange about the conversation?" Bronte asked. Mase was smiling strangely and not saying anything, but I couldn't be bothered questioning him.

"Yeah! The fact that you know his brother and sister! His sister gave you a hug! You know his mom! You're going to his house again on Sunday?" Dahlia exclaimed, and she could not contain her excitement, she literally started jumping up and down.

"I met them last night when I stayed over for dinner! And we are doing an assignment together so ya... We are hanging out again on Sunday... So what?" I asked, thoroughly happy.

"Nothing! Nothing nothing nothing..." Dahlia trailed, and Bronte and Mase laughed. I ignored them all.

I was too happy to let them get me down.
