Truth

"JYUSHIMATSU!" Ichimatsu screamed at the top of his lungs, running down the shore towards the cliff. "WHAT THE HECK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! STOP RIGHT NOW!"

Jyushimatsu couldn't hear Ichimatsu. The wind wasn't up against his back, it was just roaring in his ears, enabling him to only hear it.

"STOP!" Ichimatsu yelled even more loudly, running up the steep rock. He had been to this spot many times before, but he hadn't realized how hard it was to climb until just now. He suddenly tripped, falling face flat on the ground.

"I can't fail again...I can't...I can't let Jyushimatsu...no no no no no! STOP! STAND UP!" Ichimatsu screamed at himself as he struggled to get to his feet.

Jyushimatsu was still taking tiny steps towards the ledge of the rock, just staring at the ocean ahead of him with his mouth wide open.

Stumbling up the rock the rest of the way, Ichimatsu ran towards Jyushimatsu, grabbed him by the sleeve of his yellow hoodie, and pushed him onto the ground with great force.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING, JYUSHIMATSU?!" Ichimatsu yelled, trying to make his voice audible over the howling wind.

Jyushimatsu just sat on the ground and burst into tears.

"H-Homura-chan was h-here that day when it was pouring outside..." he cried. "I saw it happen...I was too late...she looked at me, smiled, then jumped right here...then when I returned home that night...I tried to act happy so nobody would notice...then you...you had to go to the hospital..."

Jyushimatsu buried his face in Ichimatsu's hoodie, crying for what seemed like the hundredth time that day.

"I thought I was going to lose you too, nii-san! I couldn't lose the two people that meant the world to me all at once! Why is life so unfair, Ichimatsu..." he sniffed, shivering in Ichimatsu's arms.

Ichimatsu didn't say a word and gently rubbed Jyushimatsu on his back to calm him down. He remembered, when they were just kids, Jyushimatsu, whenever he was sad, he would only go to him. It was never their parents or other brothers...just Ichimatsu.

"I'm so sorry, Jyushimatsu..." Ichimatsu mumbled. He knew his voice couldn't be heard over the sound of the wind and waves, but he didn't care.

"No matter how bad my thoughts get..." Ichimatsu thought as he looked up to the sky, "I have to keep them away from Jyushimatsu now. He wants me to be happy...but that'll never happen. If I just fake it...he'll be his normal self again..."
