Dreams

Ichimatsu stood on the edge of the cliff by the ocean, staring at the sea green waves as they crashed upon the huge rock below him. His heart beat was steady. He didn't feel nervous at all.

Usually, when he would stand here, thinking about how much he wanted to jump to his death, it would scare him. But not today. He had waited long enough. All of those insults, hurtful words. They were finally about to all go away. Nothing would matter anymore. The trash would be gone. The world would be happy.

"But is that true nii-san?" Jyushimatsu asked, gently, yet firmly, grabbing onto his older brother's shoulder with his floppy oversized yellow hoodie. "Don't go, nii-san!" he cried. But his voice sounded empty. Emotionless. Like he didn't care anymore.

"Just do it..." Ichimatsu thought, staring the arms of his purple hoodie. "I look so innocent, standing on this cliff with my brother...but underneath it all, even my hoodie, there are lies. Lies that will never leave unless I end it all. Then nobody will have to worry. Jyushimatsu is the only one that cares. And he's so happy all the time, he'll be over it all by the next day."

Ichimatsu turned around to face his brother, when he realized, he was alone. He saw Jyushimatsu's bright yellow hooded self, running up and down the shore of the beach happily.

"Does he even know? Was he even here just now? I want to tell him...I have to tell him..." Ichimatsu thought as a lump grew in his throat.

He turned back around, facing the deep sea green ocean below him. "Trash...you're just trash, remember?" Ichimatsu spat out loud. "Nobody wants trash...nobody wants ME..."

Ichimatsu took a step closer to the edge of the cliff. His heart starting to beat a little bit faster.

"What's this I'm feeling...?" Ichimatsu muttered, grasping his hoodie where his heart was. His hands trembled as the sea wind blew in his face. "I'm not going to regret this at all. Why do I feel so...so scared? Am I not trying hard enough? I used to be better than this..."

Ichimatsu took another step towards the edge. If he happened to trip, he would fall off the edge of the cliff to his death.

"I've wanted this for a long time now..." he muttered, "I'm finally free to do as I wish...I'm finally..." Ichimatsu wiped his eyes as he felt tears coming to them. "I can't...do this..."

"Ichimatsu!" Choromatsu yelled in the distance. But it was hard to hear his voice over the waves and the wind.

"Don't do it, my brother!" Karamatsu called out.

"We're all here for you!" Todomatsu yelled anxiously.

"You're our brother, Ichimatsu!" Osomatsu screamed at the top of his lungs.

But all of their words were carried away by the wind. Ichimatsu could only hear the negative thoughts that flew around in his mind. It was like a CD player was on repeat, playing the same words over, and over, and over...and...over...

Ichimatsu breathed in, then breathed out. "Those are some of my last breaths...aren't they?" he thought to himself.

And at that very moment, Ichimatsu backed up, ran towards the edge of the cliff as fast as he could, and jumped off...to what he thought would be his death...

But he didn't die.

Ichimatsu found the waves crashing over his head as salty water shot up his nose. He began to flail his arms around, choking.

A huge wave came up behind Ichimatsu, washing over his head. For several seconds, he was underwater, being carried out farther in the sea.

A strange feeling over came his arms and legs as he actually tried to swim back to shore.

He was far too ashamed to even face his brothers. They had just seen him try to kill himself...and he failed. Even the ocean didn't want trash like him. But then again, who would?

Ichimatsu stopped trying to swim. His arms and legs had to have been broken, so what was the point anyways? He made his entire body go limp, just waiting to die in the ice cold ocean....

When suddenly, a strong pair of arms dragged him onto their back and began to swim back to the shore.

Ichimatsu suddenly felt his body being dragged into the sandy shore...

Five shadows of familiar figures surrounded him. Ichimatsu tried to open his eyes, but it hurt. Everything hurt. And for the first time, he actually wanted this pain to end.

"Nii-san!" Jyushimatsu cried, "Are you okay?!"

"He's passed out right now, Jyushimatsu," Osomatsu said, trying to comfort him, "But he'll be okay. We saved him."

Ichimatsu awoke.
