Chapter 5 ❣︎︎ Turkey Point!

We were all set in motion with this big plan. I knew it would work out. I would help the Wiffles steal the instruments then give them back to the band in the perfect time!

And I would be the hero. And I could get Baldwin sent in jail for stealing! Cry Baby would have to see that I was meant to be a Drape. He would come begging for me to come back.

Baldwin opens the car door for me to hop in. He borrowed a friends van so we could stash the equipment in it. I had to make sure when we took the instruments that no one saw me take them.

And that something of Baldwins would be left behind so they knew Baldwin and the Wiffles took the items.  No one could know that I was there with them. Or the plan would be ruined.

"This is too good to be true! They won't make their rent payment and then when they don't my daddy plans on buying Turkey Point right from under their pathetic little noses!" laughs Baldwin.

"What?" I stammer.

He planned on buying Turkey Point??

"They are at least behind a few weeks in the payment. We will swoop in and take it over. Then you can play at Turkey Point my dear" he declares. He takes my hand then kisses the top of my hand.

"How do you know all this?" I beg to know.

"My uncle deals with Ramona Ricketts. Cry Baby's granny" he chuckles. "losers"

I wince. I had to make sure that they got their stuff back. And Baldwin did not win. Or we would be out of Turkey Point then Cry Baby would hate me forever.

They all would. And I would never be accepted as a Drape. Ever. And I would lose Cry Baby. I think back on his kiss. My ears heat up thinking of feeling his lips on mine again.

This was not easy.

"You will be our shining star at Turkey Point when we sing there" laughs Baldwin. "I will rename it. What should we change it to?" he wonders.

"First let's get the instruments" I remind him.

"Right" he agrees with me.

We sneak the car past the woods. So, we could walk to the trail in Turkey Point. We were close enough to the stage to snatch the instruments. And get going where no one would possibly see us.

Baldwin parks the van. Then we all sneak out. I show them the way around there. Moving fast as we can go. My heart racing the whole entire time doing so.

Baldwin takes my hand holding it protectively as he tries to be the leader of the pack. He always had to be in control.

That was how Baldwin was. He was always in charge even if he claimed someone else could take charge. He would never change it seemed like. I knew better. I was not as dumb as Cry Baby thought I was.

"Shhh, I see Pepper" I warn the Wiffles.

We duck down near a bush by a tree.
I see Pepper walk past with her kids and man.

"Thanks for watching the kids tonight" she is telling her honey. They kiss.

"This is going to be a blast tomorrow night" says her man.

"Think we will make enough to pay rent this time?" she worries.

"I hear Cry Baby has a big crowd coming from another town this time" Wanda pipes up as she joins. My sister was there now to.

"Where is Cry Baby?" my sister asks.

"He is coming" says Pepper. "he saw Veronica in town. He was so upset he could not get her to come home" says Pepper. "he really cares about her. He is fearful something bad will happen to her"

"I could not get her to come home either" my sister softly says. "I know she wants to be a Drape. But it is not good for her to be one. I wish she could understand where we are coming from" says my sister.

"She will. Once Baldwin hurts her" says Pepper. "give her time"

My sister nods.

"I will never betray you" Baldwin whispers to me. "Don't listen to those losers" he tells me. "You are a Square honey" he promises me. He kisses me on the check then smiles.

"Thanks Baldwin" I say back.

He nods.

We watch as they set up the stage. Cry Baby appears. He looks so upset. Downhearted.

"Let's play" he orders with anger in his voice.

"What is wrong Cry Baby?" asks Wanda.

"I am frustrated with Ronnie. I tried to tell her how I felt. But she would not listen to me. I tried to show her. I kissed her. I messed up how it should go" he moanfully says.

Did he not see I was doing all this for him? To help him??

"Cry Baby she will come back home" says Pepper softly.

"She is a Drape. She will see that" says my sister.

"She is furious. She won't" he snaps.

He growls then slams something on the ground. He storms off. Everyone follows after him.

"Wow you really made an impact" laughs Baldwin. "You know how to push Cry Baby's buttons" he jokes.

"I do" I say with a shrug.

"Next time he better not kiss my woman again" warns Baldwin. "I do not share" he tells me.

"You're woman?" I tease.

"Come on while they are gone! Wiffles! Grab the stuff" he orders.

He snaps his fingers then the Wiffles head running, and we grab it all. I glance around making sure I got it all.

From Wanda's tambourine to Cry Baby's guitar. As I leave, we nearly have a clear get away. I bump into someone. One of Pepper's kids. Her little girl Suzie Q.

"Sorry honey. See ya" I tell her. "You did not see me okay?" I ask her. I make her pinky swear with me.

"Ronnie?!" she squeaks.

"Bye kid" I say as I rush following after the Wiffles.

She saw me. Shit.

I hoped she would not squeal on me. Before I forget as I dragged stuff from to the van, I snag one of Baldwin's flyers out of the van. With his information on it. I place it back in Susie Q's hands.

"Wiffles!" I say softly as I wink to her.

Then I head back to the van.

"What took you so long?" snaps Baldwin as we all hop in the van and speed away.

"I forgot this" I say as I had the little triangle they used. "I did not want to leave anything behind" I giggle.

"Got it. Good thinking. They won't be able to play tomorrow" laughs Baldwin.

Little did they know they would be playing. And the Wiffles were going to get caught.

I smirk as I cross my arms feeling pleased with my actions. Everything was going according to plan.
