Oneshot (uh oh angst?)

Peri glanced at the mirror, her figure elegant and charming. Her hair was braided into a bun, her dress royal white with hints of daises attached to the end. She wore white lace gloves that reached to her upper forearm. Peri sighed, glancing at Kilo who smiled warmly, adjusting her dress and spreading it out gently.

The bells rang, the large doors opening as Peri stood at the end. She held a bouquet of roses and daises as well, her eyes focused on the man from up front. She looked at Rogue and smiled weakly.

Rogue wore a tuxedo, his hair tied to his usual bun. He smiled upon Peri, almost shedding a tear. He shrugged with a grin, trying to lighten her up. Peri chuckled and began walking up slowly, smiling warmly. Rogue watched as her dress gracefully dragged along the floor, her figure moving delightfully. He had his hands clasped together, smiling widely.

Peri glanced at him as she passed by him, walking to the front with a man who stood there, his face blurry. Peri looked up at him, stealing a glance at Rogue who smiled at them both.

The man reached his hands out as Peri hesitantly grabbed them, forcing a smile as Rogue stood there along with the other guests. People were crying softly and smiling brightly.

Peri was the most upset at this. She began crying, weeping as the man reached out to wipe them away. Peri pulled away, shaking her head.

"No. No, this isn't right. Ro-!"

Just as Peri turned around to find Rogue in the audience, he was missing. Peri looked around, her eyes darting towards every angle until she saw his figure exiting out the door. Peri panted, her tears flowing down like a waterfall.

"ROGUE!" Peri jolted up, finding herself in Rogue's couch. She looked around, seeing the familiar furniture around her. She panted, pinching herself to make sure she was awake.

Peri remembered how she asked Rogue if she could bunk with him for the night. Rogue suggested to let her sleep in his bed but she didn't feel deserving of it. So she insisted on sleeping in his couch. Rogue handed her a blanket and a pillow, leaving his door open in case she needed something.

Peri stood up, hesitant to walk up to Rogue's room. She noticed that it was 10 pm, pursing her lips as she crept up to Rogue's door. She stood by the door frame and saw him sleeping soundly, his hair loose and almost scattered all over his face.

Peri smiled at the sight, sighing as she knocked on the door to wake him up.

Rogue sighed, blinking rapidly until he sat up and stretched his arms. He saw Peri by the door, smiling weakly as he scratched the back of his head. Even though he was almost half-asleep, he could tell that something wasn't right. "Is something wrong?"

"As embarrassing as it sounds," she chuckled. "I, uh, had a nightmare and I need to talk to you."

"Oh," Rogue looked around, scooting to the side and giving her space on the bed. He patted the space, smiling warmly. Peri smiled back, walking up and falling to the soft material. She sighed and buried her face into the sheets, smelling his familiar scent.

"Give me the details," Rogue smiled at her, pulling out a sketchbook and drawing out his dreams before he forgets. It was a new thing he has been doing to keep track of those dreams.

Peri turned around, staring at the ceiling as she struggled to get the words. She sighed and covered her face. "I had a dream where I got married."

Rogue laughed, nodding as he continued sketching. "Sounds like a nightmare to me, alright."

Peri's eyes went wide, sitting up as she looked up at him. "What do you mean?"

Rogue perked up, turning to her with an unsure look. He was about to shrug bur he looked away. "Well, I-I don't know. Just thought that you didn't like getting married in general."

"Well... do you?"

"It depends, I guess," Rogue turned back to his sketchbook, his smile reappearing. "So, tell me about this wedding you dreamt of."

"Well, I dreamed of marrying this random guy and I didn't even get to see his face-!" She ranted, watching as Rogue freeze in a moment. He began stuttering quietly.

"Seriously?" He asked.

Peri nodded, satisfied with his reaction. Though, she wasn't expecting him to utter random words to himself. He sighed and took a deep breath.

"So what happened next?" He put down the sketchbook, fully invested as he turned to her entirely and leaned back slightly. Peri chuckled.

"I-... I didn't think it felt right and I saw you leave. I was crying."

Rogue paused, looking into her eyes and seeing that she was not joking. He hesitantly moved closer, hugging her tightly in his arms. Peri laughed softly, holding her tears.

"Rogue, what's with the hug?" She was barely able to hold her sobs.

"I just thought you needed it."

Peri gazed up at the ceiling, her heart wrenching at the words as she wrapped her arms around him tightly. She cried softly on his shoulder.

"What's this?" Rogue chuckled, pulling away and seeing her cry. He smiled, lightening up the mood as he noticed her grinning weakly as she attempted to take his sketchbook.

She chuckled through tears, still trying to take the sketchbook as Rogue took it and moved it further away from her. Rogue smirked down at her. "It's been cute and all but really?"

"C'mon, you showed me the rest of your drawings but not the ones in that sketchbook!" She managed to say, smiling up at him as he shook his head and clicked his tongue.

"Shame on you, Periwinkle."

"Please? Just one drawing?" She clasped her hands together in an eager motion. Rogue looked at her and sighed, he couldn't resist this lady no matter how hard he tried. "Fine. But only because you I'm too tired to resist."

Peri smiled widely at him, teasing him as he rolled his eyes with a grin. He began looking through the sketchbook, looking through the pages to find a drawing that doesn't have too much context.

He showed her the page. It was a sketch of him laying under the sun, a rose in hand. Peri grinned upon it, turning to him. "Now, tell me about YOUR dreams."

"What? No, no, no. This wasn't part of the deal," he laughed, putting the sketchbook away and getting off the bed, putting the book in a shelf.

Peri rolled her eyes, gazing at the other drawings he actually displayed on the wall. Rogue turned and noticed, smiling warmly. He began tying his hair back up, reaching for the door. "Want to grab a midnight snack?"

"Why not?"

Rogue smiled as he waited for her to get up. Peri followed him to the kitchen, looking around for something to eat.

For the rest of the night, they sat at the couch and ate, having small talk as they sat next to each other. Peri chewed slowly, the words boiling inside her growing.

"Rogue?"

"Hmm?" He glanced up at her, eating cereal.

"Y'know how we told each other that it was better off if we were friends?" Peri met his eye, watching as he nodded. She sighed and put her bowl of cereal down on the coffee table.

"I-..." her hands formed a fist. Rogue lowered his bowl down, noticing her tense up.

"I'm—" she felt like she was burning, every cell in her body disappointed and afraid. Peri sighed and hid her face, crawling into a ball. Rogue hesitantly put a hand on her shoulder, frowning slightly.

"It's okay. Take your time."

"Ugh, stop saying that," Peri grumbled, pushing his hand away. Rogue raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"You! You! This—!" She stood up, flailing her hands around. She furrowed her brows, staring down at him. "This charade!"

"Charade?" Rogue echoed, looking up.

"Are we really friends? Is this all just pretend?!" Peri clutched her heart, tugging at her shirt. Rogue stood up, looking down at her now. He hissed, raising a finger.

"Peri, calm down. It's—"

"No, Rogue. We play off as 'friends' when we constantly treat each other like we're something more!" She began tugging onto her hair. Rogue could only listen to her, his gaze focused on her.

"What are we, Rogue?" She looked up at him, searching for some kind of answer within him. Rogue sighed, looking down. Peri continued to wait. "Explain to me, Rogue. Please."

When Rogue didn't say anything at all and refused meeting her gaze, Peri sighed and backed away, turning around as she was about to walk out.

Rogue took her hand gently. Peri turned around and met his sight, seeing sadness and regret in them. He took a deep breath. "We're something that no one has ever seen."

"And what's that?" She asked.

"We're.. happy. We're happy when we're together. Usually," he chuckled, addressing the current situation. "But we love each other. We both know that."

"What if I don't?"

"Then I guess I'll have to prove it to you."

Peri was about to say something else but Rogue pulled her in and planted a soft and innocent kiss on her lips, his hands gently cupping her face. Peri eventually melted into it, humming softly as she closed her eyes.

Rogue pulled away, watching as she was awestruck. He laughed softly, ruffling her hair.

"Is that enough to prove my point?"

"Actually, no it isn't," Peri tapped her chin, smiling at him with shoulders raised. Rogue turned away with a playful sigh. "Uh huh."

Rogue turned to the clock. "Oh jeez, it's already 3 am," he sighed wearily.

"You never ever let me sleep, do you?" He added, grabbing their bowls and preparing them to be washed. Peri chuckled softly, brushing her hair back.

"Guess you can say it's a perk."
