Nine.

Taehyung stared at Jungkook.

Jungkook stared at Taehyung's gun held tightly in his hand.

The boy instantly shut the door in his face.

Taehyung wedged his gun in between the door and the frame, refraining from shutting it.

"Jungkook," he whispered.

He could sense the desperation in his tone.

"I'm not here to kill you," Taehyung promised. "I'm here to do the opposite."

Jungkook stopped. "What do you mean?"

"If you let me in, I'll tell you."

Suspicion crossed over the boy's features. Taehyung sighed.

"Look, if I was gonna kill you, I would have done that yesterday in the forest."

The man then put his hands in surrender. "I am not here to hurt you in any way."

Jungkook was still skeptical. What if he was trying to trick him? Trying to get in the brothel so he guns him down?

Guns Jia down?

Jungkook forced his heart beat to calm. No, that wouldn't happen. I wouldn't let anyone hurt that woman.

Anyone who tries will be carved out by the boy himself.

But Taehyung was right after all. That man had many chances to finish him off, yet never took any of them.

Even went against his own friends to defend him. Jungkook felt he owed Taehyung that much.

Jungkook stepped aside to let Taehyung in.

He entered, looking around the barren brothel.

"Where is everyone?" Taehyung wondered out loud.

"They fled," Jungkook answered.

And that was that.

Taehyung gripped his gun tighter. "Listen-"

"Jungkook, is everything okay?"

The boy turned his head to Jia's bedroom.

She was at the doorway, wearing a silk nightgown. Worry wavered her face.

Taehyung's eyes widened. He noticed the dishevelled hair, the swollen lips, and the love bites on her collarbone.

Then he took in Jungkook's half naked body.

A cheeky little smirk spread on his lips.

"I see why we're so cranky now," he drawled, his grin widening. "Silly little me disturbed your precious time together."

Jungkook hissed at the amused man. "Oh, shut it."

He stole a glance at Jia. She was bright pink, hugging herself tight as if it would hide the hickeys he'd marked her with.

The boy was sure he himself was blushing like mad too.

Taehyung burst out laughing at their reactions. "Aww, I didn't mean to intrude. You guys can get on still if you want-"

"Get to the point," Jungkook snapped. Now he wished he'd put a shirt on.

"Oh, I forgot about that," Taehyung said, slapping his forehead. "I came here because-"

The sound of bullets cut him off.

They blast through the windows and into the brothel.

"Shit!" Jungkook got out, going down instantly.

Taehyung and Jia followed quickly, missing the rapid gunshots.

"What the hell is going on?!" Jungkook shouted at Taehyung. The guns were so loud he could barely hear himself.

"That's why I came here," Taehyung shouted back, fumbling for his gun. "That the remaining squad was coming back for a rematch."

"Oh, what?" Jungkook groaned, daring a look out the window. He spotted Jimin outside, shooting this whole place down.

"This middle aged prostitute came running into our camps yesterday," Taehyung explained. "Was saying how the 'wanted man was in her brothel terrorising others'."

The little bitch- "That's why you came here," Jungkook said.

"To warn you," Taehyung finished off. He took out another gun. "Here, take this."

Jungkook took it from him. He inspected it, and nearly cried.

It was his old gun. The one he'd sold.

The boy smiled to himself. He cocked it and raised it upward.

They both got up, now firing the bullets back at their supposed squad.

Jimin was getting closer though. And that was not good.

"Jia, stay in the bedroom!" jungkook ordered.

He didn't see if she obeyed or not, as he slid behind the counter.

Just as Jimin burst through the door, a huge shotgun in his hands.

Jungkook saw Taehyung pressing himself against the wall jutting out, barely managing to hide from the elder.

"Jungkook," Jimin purred. "Taehyung. Come out, come out wherever you are."

His voice had Jungkook freezing all over. He had half the mind to shoot him this second.

But Jimin would likely get to him first.

Jungkook felt his ex-comrade near him slowly as he took heavy steps forward.

"I will find you both. And when I do, it's going to get messy."

Jungkook gripped his gun tighter, muttering whatever prayer he could think of.

He then jumped up and started shooting.

Jimin, the absolute prick, dodged easily, swerving to the side and hiding behind the opposite edge of the jutting wall.

"Come out, coward!" Jungkook shouted. "It's time I kill off my last one in the squad."

He heard a door creak open. He ignored it, focusing on Jimin's side.

He sprung out of his hiding place, shooting at Jungkook again.

The boy barely missed by an inch, sliding back down the counter.

He then felt bullets being fired at the counter.

Shit. The counter was wood. It would rip open eventually.

"Come out, Jungkook!" Jimin exclaimed, not stopping his gun at all, "Stop hiding and face me like a man!"

The wood burst open. Jungkook rolled to the side.

He shot upward, reloading his gun.

Jimin pointed his gun at him.

Jungkook was too slow to move out the way of the bullets being fired.

The boy didn't feel them though.

And that's when he realised.

Jungkook looked down at Jia on the floor.

Blood gushed out of her stomach.

She cried out in pain as she held her stomach.

Yet it was nothing compared to the blood-curdling scream that came from Jungkook.

He dropped his gun, sliding down to where Jia lay dying.

"No, no, no, no," he said over and over. "No, no, no!"

Jimin hid behind the wall again as Taehyung started firing at him.

Jungkook held the back of jia's head. "Jia, no, Jia, please, Jia-"

"Jungkook," Jia rasped out.

Words spilled from the boy's mouth. "Jia what's happening, no, this can't be happening, no, you can't-"

"Jungkook-"

"You can't die!" Jungkook screamed.

Jia caressed his face gently. As if that's how much strength she had left. "Jungkook."

His eyes felt heavy. "Wh-why did you d-do that?"

Jia smiled. It was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.

"A...a thank you..."

The woman gulped. "Thank you for making me a little less lonely."

With one last breath, Jia's eyes closed.

Forever.

Jungkook's heart dropped.
