32. Truth

“I love you.”

Kun’s eyes went wide, his face lit up with a warm smile and he kissed Yangyang with such intensity it made his heart sing with joy. Yangyang looped his arms around Kun’s neck and let his eyelids flutter shut, blissfully intoxicated with happiness.

Kun felt he the same way; Yangyang was thrilled beyond words.

Kun moved his hands down to Yangyang’s arse and lifted him up. Yangyang wrapped his legs around his waist and Kun stepped backwards until they fell onto the couch. Not breaking their kiss, he shifted his body so he was lying down, pulling Yangyang on top of him, his hands slipping under Yangyang’s shirt.

Warm fingertips pressed against the small of his back and he kissed Kun until he was panting for breath. Kun withdrew his hands and Yangyang opened his eyes as the older man cupped his face in his hands, gazing up at him with deep affection.

“Yang, I love you too.”

Yangyang beamed with joy and Kun pulled his face close, connecting their lips in another passionate kiss that fuelled the relentless pounding of their beating hearts.

Yangyang flattened his body against Kun’s, desperate to be close to him, closer still than just their skin-to-skin contact. But it wasn’t lust that drove his heart wild and obliterated any other thought in his mind that wasn’t about the man below him; it was love.

The kind of love that would make you cross a blistering desert in the middle of a ferocious sandstorm, or navigate torrential, swirling seas with ten foot waves and the deafening crack of thunder overhead, just to reach the one you loved.

Yet Kun was already with him, the pounding of his heart harmonising with Yangyang’s as if they were simply meant to fit together like two puzzle pieces. He didn’t need to traverse any harsh climate or conquer any dangerous beast like the knights in the books he’d read from his childhood. His prince was already by his side, promising his love and commitment, and Yangyang never wanted to let him go. Not for anything.

However, as these emotions built to a crescendo within him, one tiny thought broke through, creating dissonance.

And that tiny thought was of Ten.

It wasn’t just Kun’s feelings he had accepted, he had also led Ten to believe that they could be something more. He cared for Ten, truly, and he loved spending time with him and being around his playful and affectionate nature. Ten’s confident show of commitment the other day had only proved that the older boy really cared about him and it had made him so happy. But now, knowing Kun was the one, he couldn’t keep going on the way things were with Ten; it wouldn’t be fair on Kun or Ten.

But the thought of ending it with Ten hurt him.

It wasn’t that he doubted that he was making the right decision, it was knowing how much he would be hurting Ten by doing so.

His chest tightened and he stilled his lips against Kun’s. It was inevitable. He knew that he couldn’t have the both of them; both men’s loyalties were strong and unwavering, they wouldn’t be willing to share. He also wouldn’t betray Kun by keeping a relationship with Ten, so that meant the only other option was to break things off with the Thai boy.

“What’s wrong?”

Kun’s soft voice broke through Yangyang’s thoughts and he opened his eyes. There were tears splashed on his cheeks but they weren’t his. Yangyang reached a hand up to his face and realised they were his own.

“Are you okay?” Kun eyebrows knitted together.

He sat up and placed a palm against Yangyang’s cheek. Yangyang blinked through his tears and laced his fingers with Kun’s free hand, holding on tightly.

“I haven’t been completely honest with you.” He bit his lip and stared down at their entwined hands. He hated how that sounded, but it was true, Kun wasn’t aware of just how close he and Ten had become.

Kun gave Yangyang’s hand a quick squeeze, “It’s okay, you can tell me.”

Yangyang knew he had to be honest with Kun, he deserved that much. He took a deep breath to calm the bubbling pit of anxiety in his gut and told Kun everything.

How he had naturally developed a close bond with Ten since paying for his services; about Ten sharing his past involving Xiao Jun; how his own feelings grew for the senior the more he spent time with him, even after meeting Kun; and the day Ten had confessed.

Kun listened silently as he spoke, taking everything in. Yangyang couldn’t tell what he was thinking, but he gently rubbed Yangyang’s back, easing him a little bit with knowing that at least he wasn’t mad or angry.

“He knows that you have feelings for me as well, but he’s been so positive about it, he even told my classmate Hendery that he was confident I’d pick him. I just don’t want to hurt him but I know I’ll have to.” Yangyang finished with a deep sigh.

He glanced up at Kun for support, who placed a kiss on his forehead.

“It’s going to be okay, we’ll figure something out.” Kun replied, “I don’t want Ten to be hurt too much by this either and I certainly don’t want you to lose him as a friend.”

He pulled Yangyang into a hug, who relaxed into his embrace and settled his arms around his neck.

“Thank you.” Yangyang said, nuzzling his forehead against Kun’s.

“We’re in this together, don’t forget that.” Kun smiled and kissed his cheek.
