──────────── ✦ ────────────

THE LOOMIS-DEL MAR HOUSE, ALTHOUGH
LOOKED festive, was usually anything but. Even though the house was surrounded in green, including the Christmas tree, the only green thing she cared about were the ones that were currently rolled up in joints. The smoke pretty much covers her room more than the chimney that Santa supposedly came down every year. There was more snow on her dresser than there was outside, courtesy of Vic, who just snorted the last of it.

The familiar sound of the Ecto-1 Siren in the background during the beginning of the Ghostbusters movie filled the room as Rory took another drag from her joint. She's not watching, she's staring at the ceiling. She could tell what was going on in the movie by just the sounds alone because she's seen it so many times.

She felt Vic sit down on the bed. He took the joint from her fingers, it made her giggle. He took a drag from it, before giving it back to her.

"You could've asked," Rory told him, still giggling.

"Well, you know what they say," Vic replied, "What's yours is mine. Or whatever the fuck."

"I don't know if they were talking about drugs when they made that up."

"That's totally what they were talking about when they said that."

Rory playfully rolled her eyes, taking one last drag from the joint. She finally sat up, laying her head on his shoulder. She looked up at him. His pupils are small, she could tell his teeth were grinding his teeth a bit. She pulled a piece of gum from her nightstand drawer before she gave it to him.

"For your teeth. I don't want you to saw them off."

Vic grabbed the piece of gum. "Oh. Thanks," he said back, before turning back to the television screen, "Ghostbusters?"

"Mhm," Rory hummed.

"This the part where Winston finally joins 'em?" He asked.

Rory nodded. "Close to it," she answered.

"He's neat, but not as neat as Venkman," Vic said.

Rory looked up at him. "Venkman? The sleazeball who's going after Dana?"

"He's not a sleazeball. He's misunderstood. Definitely misunderstood."

"I'm pretty sure they display his character right from the start, Vic," Rory told him, "but that's okay. No one can beat Spengler."

"Spengler? The nerd?"

"What's wrong with Spengler?"

He's talkative. Rory definitely took advantage of that part of the coke, too. She liked listening to him talk. Even if it was something silly as a character debate. Rory rested her chin on his shoulder. She didn't know if it was because she was high, but she couldn't stop staring. But she was indeed listening.

Vic had been telling her ear off about how Spengler was a weird character and how Venkman was misunderstood. They've watched these movies as routine, now. And Rory never got tired of it. She would rather be doing this, anyway. Other than going to gigs.

"I don't think you're giving Spengler a fair chance," Rory told him, "Just because Venkman is cool and somewhat has swagger doesn't mean Spengler isn't cool."

"Explain how he's cool," Vic told her.

"Well, c'mon, first off, he's smart! He's a nerd!" Rory told him, "not to mention, he's always saving the other Ghostbusters' ass."

"So, he's a protector."

"Yeah! I mean, he cares about them. Definitely. He sees the other Ghostbusters as his family pretty much."

"That's all you got?" Vic asked.

Rory playfully huffed. "I'll have more when I'm sober. I think better that way," she told him, which made Vic laugh.

"Don't you laugh at me!" She said, playfully nudging him.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Vic snickered, "totally not laughing."

"You totally are! You're totally laughing at me!" Rory giggled.

She then heard a door close from downstairs. Rory made sure to listen to see if there weren't any strangers trying to break into the house. She couldn't hear the voices from where she had been, so she walked closer to the door. When she heard that it was only her stepbrother and stepfather, she walked back to her bed, sitting back down.

"Who's that?" Vic asked.

"Hank and Billy," Rory answered, "must be back from their stupid bonding trip. They're actually here an hour early."

Vic scrunched up his nose. "Bonding trip?"

"Yeah," Rory said, "It's dumb, and I'm definitely not getting into it."

"Fair enough," he said back, standing up from the bed.

Rory noticed that he was grabbing his things. His jacket, the rest of the drugs that he left on her dresser. She raised an eyebrow at him. "What are you doing?"

Vic looked back at her just as confused. "Getting my stuff?"

"You're not leaving are you?" She asked.

"Well, yeah," he answered, "I'm not getting you in trouble by being here."

"So, you'd rather drive back home high?"

"I've done it before," Vic told her, "I'll be fine."

Rory stood up afterward. The last thing she wanted was for him to leave, let alone drive home while he was high. She grabbed his hand, his fingertips calloused. She doesn't mind that, though.

"Victor," Rory started, her tone slightly stern, "that's dangerous. You can't be driving around like that."

"I'll be okay," Vic told her, "honest. Besides, I know Hank isn't gonna be happy to see me anyway."

"Fuck Hank, man," Rory said, "he can choke on his own dick for all I care."

Vic stifled out a chuckle. He's barely heard Rory speak such words unless she absolutely hated someone. It was funny to hear. But, he knew that she had some very passionate feelings about her mother marrying that man, as well as gaining a stepbrother.

"As for you driving," Rory continued, "I can't let you go. Not like that. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I let you drive like that?"

Vic couldn't believe that he was considering it. But that was Rory. She cared when no one else did, and he really couldn't understand why. It felt nice, sure, but he wasn't used to it.

"You really want me to stay?" He asked.

Rory nodded. "Of course I want you to stay, silly," she answered, playfully nudging him when, "besides. It's illegal to drive high, and well ... If that greaseball can have Stu over as company, then why can't I have that?"

"You got a good point," Vic told her, "might as well break your stepdad's rules."

"Exactly. And, my mom's gonna be here in half an hour," Rory said, "she's been dying to meet you."

Vic pointed to himself. "Me?"

Rory chuckled, "yes, you, silly. She's gonna love you."

"Well, I'm not exactly a mother's favorite. In fact I'm the guy she's warned their daughters about," Vic said.

"Well, my mom's different," Rory told him, "she's cool. Very cool."

"I've never heard anyone say that about their mom ever," Vic replied, "maybe except for Lex, but ... You know that's a sensitive topic for them anyway."

"I know."

Not too long after, a knock is heard on the bedroom door. When she heard Hank's voice on the other side of it, she couldn't help but to roll her eyes. "One second," she told Vic.

She turned around. Rory only slightly opened the door so Hank wouldn't see inside of her room. "Yeah?"

"Who's car is parked in the driveway?" Hank asked. He sounded pissed.

"Someone," Rory answered, "You'll meet him. He's here. You won't get to see him until mom gets back."

Rory sounded sweet. It pissed Hank off. Rory was definitely being condescending and he hated that. But Rory stood on business, especially about keeping things to herself.

"Are they in there?"

"Yes? Where else would they be?" Rory asked.

Hank tried to force his way in. Rory wasn't having it, and she put her foot through the door to stop him. With another attempt, Hank failed. He huffed, increasingly pissed off by the minute.

"Aurora."

"You're not getting in," Rory told him, "You'll meet him when mom gets back."

She was able to shut the door and lock it on time. Rory sighed, running a hand through her hair as she turned around. "Sorry," she said, "he's such a dick."

"Clearly," Vic chuckled.

"As long as he's mad it makes me feel better," Rory snickered, before sitting down on her bed again.

Vic nodded, sitting next to her. "That's reasonable. Pretty sure it's funny when he's pissed off."

"Now, here's what we're gonna do," Rory started, before taking his hand once again, "we're gonna sit here, we're gonna get high again, and watch Ghostbusters while Hank internally freaks about who's in my bedroom. Deal?"

Vic chuckled. "Deal," he said.
