RANDIE'S HAD A TOUGH WEEK. NOT ONLY had he had to deal with a sixteen year old teenager that he unofficially adopted, he also had to deal with other things. First, his apartment flooded. All that hard work trying to build it up only for the washer to destroy it. Which meant him and Freddie had to stay at a hotel.
And then he got sick right after trying to deal with Freddie's fever. He should've expected that, though. But being in a hotel while he was sick? That wasn't very ideal. And that meant that he had to miss work. Which meant Janine had to work his shift all week. He felt pretty guilty about that.
His apartment, being in a hotel, and being sick ... That sunk him into a depression pretty quick.
What was he going to do about all the destruction that happened at the apartment? How was he going to pay for all that? It was hard enough to even pay for the things in there. And now it was ruined.
When he returned back to work Monday night, he still wasn't feeling up to par. But he needed the money. Randie said hello to Janine before she left for the night. But he then noticed a vase on the desk. It was filled with geraniums.
"Hey, Janine?" He asked, it made Janine turn, "What's with the geraniums?"
"Someone delivered those about an hour ago," she answered, "They're addressed to you."
"Me?"
"Yeah. I didn't read the card because that would just be nosy. But, yeah, they said they were for you," Janine told him.
She left afterward. Randie looks at the vase of flowers. He then noticed the card that's right next to it. To Randie it says on the front. It doesn't say who it's from. He opens the car up, and it reads :
"I heard you had a pretty awful week. These geraniums are a token of my appreciation, and I know they make you smile."
Randie couldn't help but to smile. It was a sweet gesture. But, he didn't know who it was from, and no one really knew that geraniums were his favorite flower.
Unless ...

"Here are those results you wanted, Dr. Spengler."
After Randie gave those papers to Egon, he was immediately distracted. His eye caught the geraniums that are in a hanging pot across the room. They're a beautiful blue-ish purple, his favorite type. It's the species that he's used to seeing back home. It makes him homesick a little bit.
Randie has always been interested in botany. Mainly in the floral sense and not the fungus sense, like Egon. But, that wasn't a thing that his parents were willing to help with.
Egon spotted Randie across the room, admiring the flowers. He walked up to him.
"I didn't know you liked botany."
Randie turned around. "It's more of a hobby," he said, "I used to work at a flower shop as a teenager."
"So ... You know about the geranium?" Egon asked.
Randie nodded. "There are different kinds, you know. This specific species is my favorite. Pretty violet color."
"The Geranium Himalayense," Egon explained. "Not exactly native to here."
"But they can be grown," Randie told him, "Took care of a bunch back in Summerville."
Egon was intrigued by this. He was the one who was interested in spores, molds, and fungus. This was different. He's never known anyone to actually tend to flowers. Not in New York.
"Interesting. Tell me more."

Randie put down the card. He looked at the flowers once more. Geranium Himalayense ... The exact ones that were in the laboratory. The one Randie ranted about for hours on end.
He immediately went up to the laboratory. It wasn't unusual that Egon was up there. Especially when the other three Ghostbusters were sleeping.
Randie finds him up there. Egon is putting ectoplasm in a petri dish. He just looks for a while, he doesn't want to disturb the scientist while he's working. But it seemed that he already knew he was at the door.
When he's done with the dish, Egon looked at him. "Welcome back."
"Um, thanks," Randie said back, walking toward him.
"Hopefully you're doing much better than you were last week."
"I am. I missed being back, honestly," Randie told him, "The geraniums certainly helped."
"So you got them," Egon replied.
Randie nodded. "I wanted to come up here and say thank you."
"Oh, you don't have to do that, I just thought you needed a kind gesture."
Randie walked closer to him. He gave Egon a kiss on his cheek. Seeing the blush on the scientist's face made his night even better.
"From me, to you," Randie said with a chuckle.
Egon gave him one of his signature small smiles. "Glad to have you back," he said.
