Ivy found herself yawning not long after dinner was finished. Alby had excused himself long ago to finish up some rounds before going to bed. The sun had now started to set, the sky full of colours from orange to purple and several boys started to call it a night to relax in their hammocks. "You should hit the hay for the night green." Minho said, his fork in his hand despite his dinner being long gone. Ivy yawned once again before nodding her head. The girl slowly stood up, before looking down to Minho and Newt as they stayed sitting for a moment longer. "I'll see you guys in the morning?" she asked, making Minho shake his head. "Not me Green, i'll be out long before you're up. I'll see you for dinner though." he promised making Ivy nod her head with a smile. "You know what, i'll come with you. I should probably call it early tonight." Newt said before standing up from the picnic table as well. The two both bid Minho goodnight before they both made their way towards the Homestead.

A handful of boys said goodnight to Newt as the pair would pass them by, with their eyes lingering on Ivy making her slightly uncomfortable as they did. "Why does everyone keep staring at me?" Ivy whispered, leaning closer to Newt as they walked. The boy looked down to her before looking at a pair of boys that had just walked past them. He sighed and ran his hand over his face, before saying. "Some of these boys haven't seen a girl in years - if they even remember what one is. It's nothing about you, it's just them." Ivy nodded her head before looking down to the ground, quietly thanking Newt as he held open the door for the building.

They walked down the dim and creaky hallway together, now hearing snores coming from the doors that held silence earlier in the day. They stopped before the door that separated Ivy's room from the rest. "Night Ivy, I'll see you in the morning." he told her, making Ivy nod her head and open the door to her room. "Night, Newt." she said quietly before stepping into the room and closing the door not wanting to wake anyone up. The girl sat on the side of the bed, unlacing her boots before kicking them off and laying down on the bed. She looked out the bedroom window and saw the stars off in the distance.

"Where the hell am i?" The girl whispered before rolling over on her side and closing her eyes for the night.

Ivy never heard the knock on her door when the sun rose the next morning. When the door slowly creaked open and Alby poked his head inside the room, he found Ivy fast asleep with her arm thrown over her forehead and her mouth parted open slightly. The man chuckled to himself before walking up to the girl and leaning over her. "Morning Green bean." Alby said, making the girl sit up at the speed of light. Her forehead smacking against Alby's as they both groaned in pain. "Holy hell, Alby!" The girl groaned, falling back down onto her bed rubbing her forehead.

Alby rubbed his own forehead, cursing as he did so. "It's not normal to watch people sleep. You know that right?" Ivy muttered making Alby chuckle his head in disbelief that she would be making a joke right now.

"You just looked so cute Greenie, couldn't help it." Alby told her, his voice dripping with sarcasm making the girl roll her eyes. Slowly, she sat back up her head pounding as she did so. "Okay, get ready for today you're with the med-jacks." Alby said, chucking a pair of jeans at the girl. "Some other supplies came up in the box with you yesterday, we will have them brought up to your room before tonight." Alby said, making the girl nod her head as he walked back towards the door. "Hurry it up, i'll be outside." Alby said before slipping out the room and closing the door behind him. Ivy ran her hands over her face with a sigh before grabbing her glasses off her bedside table and placing them on the bridge of her nose.

She stood up and quickly swapped her shorts out for the jeans Alby had given to her. Doing up the zipper on the jeans, the girl shoved her feet into a pair of old tattered black boots and tied them up. Swiftly her hair was tied up and off her neck for the day before she rushed out of her room, closing the door behind her. She raced down the stairs to meet Alby outside, skipping the last few steps before pushing open the door to the homestead and finding Alby outside.

"Alright Greenie, let's go." Alby said, leaning against the wall of the hall building and his arms crossed over his chest. Ivy nodded her head and followed behind the boy to a different door to enter the homestead. Alby pushed open the door and allowed Ivy to walk in first before following behind her. When she was inside the girl was quick to introduce herself to the two boys inside, Clint and Jeff - the Glades medjacks. Alby watched from the sidelines as the girl interacted with the two boys. It wasn't long before a Slicer had walked into the building with a cloth wrapped around his arm tightly. "Here is one of our most common patients." Jeff said making the boy who walked in give a small smile.

"Names Winston Green bean." the boy greeted before sitting down making Clint walk up to the boy and motion Ivy over. "Here Ives, let me show you how to stitch something like this up." making Ivy walk up beside him and look over him as he worked and explained the small steps he was taking in order to help the boy out.

Ivy kept her eyes trained on Clint the entire time, not wanting to miss a single step, and would nod along when Clint would look up and ask if she was following along, gladly answering any questions she had to make the process easier. After Winston was sent on his way after he was patched up Gally followed along soon after. "What did you do this time Gally?" Jeff asked with a sigh. The boy sat himself on a chair grumbling to himself, a look of boredom on his face as he let out a sigh.

"A bored fell and a nail split open my arm." Gally muttered in response, as Jeff looked him over. Jeff was about to start getting to work before Clint placed his hand on Jeffs shoulders and shook his head. "Ives, meet your first patient." Clint said, looking up to Alby who gave the boy a nod of approval. Ivy looked between the two medjacks before looking up to Alby who gave her an almost unnoticeable smile.

Ivy hesitated before taking the thread and needle from Clint's hands and sat down in front of Gally who was watching her with weary eyes. Jeff offered her a wet cloth and Ivy took it before looking up to Gally and locking eyes with him. "I'm sorry if i mess this up." The girl whispered before looking back down and taking his arm in her hand softly. Gally said nothing in return, no one had ever said sorry to him before especially in the homestead.

Taking the needle, Ivy pierced it through Gally's arm and started to weave it through the wound pulling it closed. She would notice every time Gally winced which would make her stop and ask if he was okay. The entire treatment from Ivy was so new to Gally, because no one ever asked if he was okay. When she was done, Ivy stood up and let Clint and Jeff inspect her handy work. Both boys smiled, beaming with pride. "Work like that and you'll be better than Jeff here in no time Ives." Clint said patting her on the back.

Ivy beamed with pride, she was proud of herself for conquering the first challenge thrown her way. "Alright, you're good to go Gally. Just take it easy, no heavy lifting until those stitches are out." Clint told the boy, Gally nodded his head and walked out of the room; thanking Ivy silently on his way out.

Ivy never noticed the fact that at some point Alby was swapped out for Newt, and the boy was observing her from the doorway making sure she was okay. He wanted to make sure she wasn't uncomfortable in her atmosphere and to see how she would prosper in her placement for the day - and to no surprise to the boy she was doing amazing with the medjack boys.
