"Morgan!"

Prompt from Daoriginalgummybear: For the Loki imagines could you possibly do one where y/n and Loki have to babysit Morgan or something maybe including Peter idk thanks.

A/N: I saw this prompt this morning, thought about it all day and then literally couldn't sleep until I'd written it, hence it is now almost 5am and I'm falling asleep at my laptop. Enjoy!

Oh also this is from after Meant to be so as always y/n's and Loki's thoughts are in italics.

...

"Tony, go."

"I'm going. I'm leaving right now. Did you get the-"

"Yes, get out of here." you stress, flapping your hands to get him to move towards the front door. He reluctantly allows you to usher him all the way to the door, where he turns to call to Pepper.

"Honey, come on. We'll be late." he says, watching his wife hug their daughter goodbye as if her and Tony are off on a six month voyage. You catch Loki's eye from across the room and he rolls his eyes at you.

They haven't left her since the Blip. That's ever, in other words.

I know. But it's been fifteen minutes.

Pepper finally releases Morgan and joins Tony at the door. You pointedly open it for them.

Peter is sat on the kitchen counter, his arms firmly crossed. He's been staying with Tony and Pepper while his aunt sorts out living arrangements, and is incredibly indignant that he hasn't been trusted to watch Morgan on his own.

"Okay, be good kids. Don't get into too much trouble." Tony says to Morgan and Peter as he steps backwards out of the door. Pepper turns to you anxiously as she follows him through the door.

"I promise she'll be okay." you tell her firmly. Pepper nods and smiles as Loki comes to stand at your shoulder and Morgan runs across the room and squeezes through yours and Loki's legs, apparently not satisfied with her fifteen minute goodbye.

You pick her up quickly before Pepper can get hold of her again.

Odin's beard.

Quiet.

"Did you hear me, squirt? Be good, okay?" Tony says to Morgan, stepping forward to ruffle his daughter's hair.

"I will." Morgan says obediently. Tony nods, and then you all just stand there looking at each other.

"Go!" you say.

"Okay! Okay. Let's go."

"Try and remember to have fun." you call after them as they walk across the porch, stepping backwards and letting Loki shut the door before they can reply.

"Okay, that's the hard part over with." you say, setting Morgan down on the floor. She runs across the kitchen floor to grab one of Peter's legs and pulls on it in excitement.

"They're gone! What shall we do?" she asks him eagerly.

"I don't know, why don't you ask the adults." Peter tells her bitterly. Morgan's face falls, and she turns around to trudge back towards you and Loki. Peter's stony façade cracks a little as he watches her walk away.

"Peter, why don't you decide what we do?" you suggest. He looks at you and frowns.

"Why?"

"You've spent a lot of time with Morgan, you must know what she likes to do." you tell him. You've known Morgan her whole life and have spent hours and hours with her over the past four years, but right now Peter doesn't need to know that.

"I do. Yeah." he says, jumping down from the kitchen counter. "Hey Morgan, you wanna rebuild our pillow fort?"

Morgan's face lights up.

"Are you sure about this? Tony left you in charge." Peter says quietly to you as Morgan sprints up the stairs for 'supplies'.

"And I'm passing that mantle on to you." you tell him, handing him an imaginary mantle. He grins and mimes taking it from you.

"Thanks. Can we use the lounge?"

You gesture across the room.

"Obviously the only sensible place to build a fort." you tell him. Peter smiles before following Morgan up the stairs.

"And I'm here... why?" Loki asks you for what is probably about the seventeenth time.

"Because we're helping Tony and Pepper." you tell him, turning to face him. He looks unamused.

"I don't like small humans."

You sigh and look at him in disbelief.

"You like Morgan."

"Yes, but I can't do anything to help with her wellbeing. There's no reason for me to be here."

The sound of Morgan shrieking with laughter upstairs reaches your ears, and you look at Loki imploringly. His face remains unchanged.

"You're so grumpy." you tell him, reaching for his hands.

"You signed up for it." he replies, looking and pointedly at the ring finger on your left hand and more than willingly allowing you to pull him towards you.

"Morgan's sweet, and Peter is lovely but he's struggling. So please try, just for tonight." you ask him, putting your arms around him. He rests his chin on your head.

"Obviously I will." he says. You smile.

"Thank you."

There's a sudden shriek from the top of the stairs, and you and Loki both spin around to locate the source of the noise. Your heart actually stops as Morgan comes tumbling into view down the stairs tangled in bedsheets right as Peter yells 'Morgan!'.

You're frozen, and before you've even thought to try and catch her she's encased in a shield of green magic at the bottom of the stairs. You teleport to her side and lift her quickly to her feet, scanning her anxiously for any sign of damage.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" you ask her, holding her tiny shoulders tightly. They're shaking, and it's only then that you realise she's laughing.

"That was fun." she giggles. Your whole body relaxes.

"What happened? Did you trip?" you ask, letting go of her shoulders.

"Yes, I was carrying too many blankets." she tells you.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," Peter rambles, thudding down the stairs anxiously. "Is she okay?"

"Yes, she's fine." you tell him, standing up and trying to slow your racing heartrate.

"I'm so sorry." Peter repeats. He's white as a sheet.

"Hey, it's fine. It's not your fault. One of us should have been watching." you say to him.

One of us was watching.

"I'll put these back..."

"No, bring them down! Maybe you can be materials transporter and Morgan and I will be builders, though." you tell Peter, choosing to ignore Loki's comment.

"Thanks for catching me Loki." Morgan says to Loki. You turn to look at him; he looks confused.

"I- you're welcome." he replies after a beat. You hold back a smile, gathering the sheets from the stairs and handing one to Morgan.

"Let's take these over there, but be careful. Don't trip." you tell her.

'I can't do anything to help with her wellbeing'.

Fine. Not unless she's in imminent danger, then.

It's a good job you were here though, isn't it?

Yes, you've made your point.

You spend the next hour or so constructing a mighty pillow fort. Loki gets more and more involved, starting by assuming the role of the observer before stating that he can't bear to watch anymore after about ten minutes and stepping in to help.

After an hour of hard work and quite a lot of magic to hold things together, you've created not just a pillow fort, but a pillow palace.

"Do you think Mommy will let me keep it up forever?" Morgan asks happily from within the fort, invisible to you on the outside.

"Ohh, you'll have to ask her." you reply vaguely, pulling a face at Peter, who grins.

Loki is tasked with cooking the pizzas for dinner while you go upstairs with Morgan to help her get her pyjamas on. This means leaving him alone with Peter.

Please don't leave me. I'm begging you.

Loki please. Talk to him about school or something.

Y/N. Don't do this to me.

I'll be three minutes!

When you return back downstairs with a pyjama-clad Morgan you find Loki and Peter engaged in a discussion about science and magic; both of them are using lots of long, weird words which you don't even pretend to understand.

Eventually you have to remind Loki about the pizzas before they burn, and ten minutes later you're all sat eating. Morgan had put up a very good fight about eating in the pillow fort which you'd eventually caved in to, but only if she promised not to get sauce on the bedsheets.

You let Peter choose a film (he's also eating in the pillow fort, but you'd had to deconstruct one of the roofs for him to stick his head out of to see the TV), and he puts on a cartoon for Morgan which you don't really pay attention to.

After you finish eating you take the plates to the kitchen before being begged for ice cream (How can such a tiny human eat so much food?), which you obviously concede to. It occurs to you that one day you might have to say the word 'no' to Morgan.

Today is not that day.

Loki eats his ice cream and then steals most of yours (he loves ice cream), before doing all of the dishes in seconds using his magic and returning to the sofa. Peter watches wide-eyed; you smile at him in amusement.

Morgan's eyes are beginning to try to close; you can practically feel her trying to stay awake.

"You ready for bed yet, Morgan?" you ask her from the sofa.

"Nope," she replies stubbornly. "I'm not even tired."

Three minutes later she falls asleep and wakes herself up again after slumping sideways into the wall of the pillow fort and consequently causing the blanket roof to collapse in on her. You rescue her from the wreckage, declaring that it's definitely time for bed and carry her upstairs.

You sit with her while she brushes her teeth, barely awake, and then she pads across the hallway to her bedroom. She climbs into bed and you tuck her in, before sitting back in the chair next to her bed.

"Bedtime story?" she asks.

"No sweetheart, it's already way past your bedtime." you whisper.

"Daddy always tells me bedtime stories. Sometimes about you." Morgan tells you. You look at her, your interest piqued.

"Really?"

"He says that you're the strongest superhero ever, stronger even than Captain America and Hulk." she says. A lump appears in your throat.

"I don't know about that." you smile, trying to swallow the lump. It won't go.

"Yeah, cos you lost Loki in the Blip. And you were really sad and that made you really strong." she says quietly. Your heart hurts for a moment, before you catch yourself. Loki is here. He's downstairs. You've done your fair share of hurting already.

"I did." you whisper.

"Daddy says. Must be true." Morgan mutters sleepily, her eyes closed now.

"Your Dad is right about a lot of things." you tell her. 'Like time travel', you add in your head.

"Mhm." she says.

"Night Morgan." you whisper after a few seconds, touching her hair briefly before standing up and crossing the room, closing the door gently behind you.

Loki is waiting for you outside. Sometimes you just need to feel him. Flesh and bone, solid and always cool beneath your fingertips. He holds you to him and you close your eyes, listening to his heartbeat.

I'm here.

You've lost track of the number of times he's said and thought that to you since you'd got him back. Probably at least once a day. Your reply is always the same.

I know.

"We're missing a really important part of the film." Loki tells you quietly, so not to wake Morgan. You smile and look up at him.

"Come on then."
