A/n-oh my god 4979 words please tell someone read to the end of this also is this too long I originally planned to split this into two parts since it's so long but I don't know if you guys reading would with this or not anyway enjoy the fighting near the end.

Tenzin: That's...That's impossible. Only the Avatar has ever possessed that ability.

Nathan: not anymore Tenzin.

Tenzin: I believe you. I don't know how Amon has achieved this power. But this means the revolution is more dangerous than ever. No bender is safe.

And now

Its night time on temple island the moon shines lighting the room which holds avatar Korra, with a closer look she begins turning and breathing heavily.

within Korra's dream

Korra looks startled as she finds he self in darkness, and from that two chi blockers burst through the darkness. Korra leaps up and performs two spinning firebending kicks, which the chi blockers dodge. Korra follows up with two firebending punches but misses as the chi blockers surround her. One jumps at Korra and kicks, but Korra blocks and counters with a barrage of fire punches. Another chi blocker closes in on Korra and executes a series of quick strikes up along her spine. she yells and falls to her knees. she looks up to see amon walking up to her.

Amon: After I take your bending away you will be nothing.

Amon reaches out towards Korra's face, her eyes wide with terror. everything around her fades to black, she then wakes up from her nightmare with a scream.

Korra: GAAH!

She pants hard and beads of sweat are on her face. meanwhile, In the room across from Korra, you were sleeping happily in your underwear until you were woken up by Korra's scream 

Nathan: huh!? what the? Korra!.

You said waking in confusion, quickly gathering your thoughts you climbed out of bed and ran out of your room towards Korra You kicked the door open and rolled in bending water around you in a circle 

Nathan:  Is everything alright? 

You asked scanning the room only for Naga to look up at you and plop his head back down not giving a damn. while Korra turns to you with a forced smile.

Korra: everything's fine it was just a bad dream. 

She said sweating bullets

Nathan: just a bad dream? I think you mean nightmare. 

You said as you grabbed the nearest piece of cloth and hand it to her. to wipe her face.

Korra: Y-yea I'm peachy now thanks for coming. 

You didn't give a response, you could the uncertainty on her face but decided to just drop it.

Nathan: All alright then. 

you said bending  the water back into your waterskin, you looked back as you were leaving 

Nathan: well sweet dreams Korra.

Korra: yeah good night

About a minute went by and Korras doors open and the light switched on to see you dressed holding a tray with two warm teacups.

Nathan: Yeah I'm not stupid to think your alright just like that so I brought this.

You sat down by the edge of the bed and handed her a cup

Korra: Thanks.

She said with a small smile.

Nathan: don't mention it. 

Korra: wait how did you boil this so fast? 

Nathan: Oh right you don't know this but my grandfather was a fire bender and had a son who became my father I'm not sure if that's why but I can heat water like crazy!. 

Korra: wow that's something you don't hear often.

but her look changed to one of questioning 

Korra: wait then that means it happened during the war? how is that possible?.

Nathan: "haha sit tight cause this is a long story," you said as she adjusted herself on the bed.

After telling the story of how you Gramps set captured water tribe members free and helped them back to the north pole along with fighting both water tribe members because they couldn't trust him and the fire nation because he was deemed a traitor and fugitive and how he ended up in the arms of your grandmother who accepted him.

Korra: wow I can't believe your grandfather did that

Nathan: yep 'I think i got her mind off whatever that dream was hoping it won't happen again' 'the moon outsides beautiful well I'm beat so If you don't mind yawn.

Korra: oh right sorry to keep you here, hehe.

Nathan: eh no problem if need anything just come and ask

You said with a smile which she returned and nodded you returned to bed and so did Korra.

the next day was normal nothing important to note Tenzin went to a council meeting and came back in defeat saying Tonraq another member has won favour and created a task force which Tenzin said will further the divide between benders and non-benders.

You spent most of the day hanging with Korra when Mello, Ikki and Jinora most of the day went well with the occasional drop-in from T checking on Korra.

Your Pov

As I listen to the music over the radio on the railing in front of Tenzin's home while practising some martial arts I couldn't help but steal a few glances at Korra, with the full moon shining brightly on her practising her air bending moves, 'beautiful' was all I could think of god I swear I'm falling for her more and more I need to calm down.

The radio begins to put out static for a second before Amon's voice is heard. we look at each other in surprise and turn to the radio.

Amon: My fellow Equalists this is your leader, Amon. As you have heard, the Republic council has voted to make me public enemy number one, proving once again that the bending oppressors of this city will stop at nothing to quash our revolution. But we can not be stopped. Our numbers grow stronger by the day.  You no longer have to live in fear. The time has come for benders to experience fear.

As he finished it returned to playing music like before I turn to see Korra turning around looking nervous-looking closer in her eyes you see her looking frightened and with beads of sweat dripping down her skin 

Nathan: 'this isn't going to get better I gotta do something to take her mind off this off him' 

Nathan: hey Korra.

She turns to you still nervous

Korra: yea what's wrong you afraid of a broadcast. 

she said trying to act smug

Nathan: 'I'll play along' yes I am super afraid can we go inside now please wah!

Korra: heh...yea crybaby lets go.

Nathan: No one calls me a crybaby I'm 18 and two who was it that I had to babysit them last night

Korra: "what noo your the one who came in with tea I was polite, wait," she said dropping the act "you're 18?"

Nathan: uh yea is that a problem?

Korra: "pfft hahaha" she burst into laughter, "I thought you were just short haha."

Nathan: wait then how old are you?.

Dread, regret the instinctive fear to run and hide was all that came to you when her attitude took a complete one-eighty. 

Korra: "never and I mean never ask that again "your sweat dropped in fear only able to nod in response.

With that, i think she felt better and decided to go to sleep you just smiled as your plan worked she's no longer thinking about Amon. I sighed as was about to turn off the light inside and heard to bed Pema came.

Pema: you're very caring Nathan. It's nothing even though she's scared and won't say anything she's gotta know she can turn to others for help.

Pema: you mean she has you by her side

That comment made you blush slightly enough for her to see.

Nathan: what n-no I mean everyone you, T, Mako and Bolin 

she giggled at your response 

Pema: Of course your right I know how you look at her and don't worry your secret's safe with me. 

She smirked making you tense.

Nathan: I appreciate you keeping it a secret but it's useless with how she talks about Mako. 

Pema: true looks are one thing but relationships can is built up based on looks alone just wait it'll pass and then she'll notice you.

She said with a warm smile

Pema: now switch off the lights it's time for bed.

the next day you were all sitting in the dining room ready to eat breakfast once T finishes his prayer (btw you sit next to Korra)

Tenzin: We are grateful for this delicious food, for happiness, for compassion, and--

he was interrupted by a voice coming from the front entrance

Tarrlok: "I'm not interrupting, am I? 

Tenzin looks surprised, as you turn to the left as Tenzin looks to the doorway to see Tarrlok standing there and bowing. 

Tenzin: This is my home, Tarrlok. We're about to eat dinner.

Nathan: and yes you're interrupting my mealtime

Tarrlok: Good because I am famished. Airbenders never turn away a hungry guest, am I right?

Tenzin: Sigh I suppose.

Tenzin sits back down. Pema frowns at him and Tenzin shrugs in response.

Nathan: but I cooked the meal so don't i get a vote.

Tarrlok: I suppose may! please join?.

Nathan: get out then I'll think about it," 

I said making the rest giggle even T smiled but Tarrlok just ignores what i said and moves towards Korra.

Tarrlok: approaching Korra "Ahh, you must be the famous Avatar Korra. It is truly an honour. I am Councilman Tarrlok, a representative from the Northern Water Tribe."

Korra: Nice to meet you.

Korra sits back down and Tarrlok sits down next to Korrapushing me away from Korra. Ikki scoots close to Tarrlok.

Ikki: Why do you have three pony-tails?" sniffs "And how come you smell like a lady? You're weird.

Nathan: that's because he is-

Tarrlok: Well aren't you... precocious. So, I've been reading all about your adventures in the papers. Infiltrating Amon's rally, now that took some real initiative.

Korra: Oh, thanks but that was to help a friend Nathan got there before and busted them. 

Tarrlok: none the less you were there and republic City is much better off now that you've arrived.

Korra: I think you're the first authority figure in the city who's happy I'm here.

Tenzin: Enough with the flattering, Tarrlok. What do you want from Korra?

Tarrlok: Patience, Tenzin. I'm getting to that. As you may have heard, I am assembling a task force that will strike at the heart of the revolution and I want you to join me.

Korra: Really?

Tenzin: What?

Nathan: Korra don't do this

Tarrlok: I need someone who will help me attack Amon directly, someone who is fearless in the face of danger, and that someone is you.

Korra: Join your task force? I can't.

Tarrlok looks surprised, Tenzin looking surprised as well while I had a proud smile on my face Korra calmly drinks from her cup.

Tarrlok: I must admit, I'm rather surprised. I thought you'd jump at the chance to help me lead the charge against Amon.

Tenzin: Me too.

Korra: I came to Republic City to finish my Avatar training with Tenzin. Right now I just need to focus on that.

Tarrlok: Which is why this opportunity is perfect. You would get on the job experience while performing your Avatar duty for the city.

Nathan: Korra gave you her answer. 

Tarrlok: Very well then what about you.

Nathan: now you see me. hell no 

Tarrlok: very well but, I'm not giving up on you just yet. You'll be hearing from me soon. It has been a pleasure, Avatar Korra.

Tarrlok begins to leave the room, and Ikki stands up to wave goodbye. 

Nathan: 'okay that's a little creepy I'm keeping my eye on him.'

Ikki: Bye-bye, Pony-tail Man!

Nathan: see ya never 

Tarrlok: "Hmph." is all he said as he left.

TIME SKIP! brought to you by Bolin hanging out with us for a while then heading back to the city

Tenzin on Airbender Island approaches a maroon convertible automobile with a large pink ribbon tied around it, presumably another gift from Tarrlok to Korra. Ikki and Meelo are sitting in it and pretending to drive.

Ikki: Outta the way, Daddy! We're driving here! Beeeeeep! Beep beep beep!

Tenzin shakes his head in disappointment at Tarrlok's efforts. while I push the children out of the car and take the driving seat

Nathan: it's all about family T

Meelo: Beep beep!.

Tenzin walks past you to Korra practising her airbending movements in the octagonal training area with the Yin Yang.

Tenzin: I see Tarrlok's gifts are getting more and more extravagant.

Korra: Yeah. That guy doesn't know how to take "no" for an answer.

Tenzin: Korra, are you doing alright?

Korra: Yeah, I'm fine.

hearing that you got out of the car and walked over 

Tenzin: sitting on the steps and offering Korra to sit next to him "Why don't you take a break? I'm glad you turned down Tarrlok but I just wanted to make sure your decision was for the right reason."

Korra walks over to Tenzin and sits beside him.

Korra: I'm just really focused on my airbending right now, is all.

Tenzin: Right. That's what you said. You know, it's okay to be scared. The whole city is frightened by what's been going on. The important thing is to talk about our fears because if we don't, they can throw us out of balance. I'm always here for you if you want to talk.

Korra looks to Tenzin a moment, then looks away. Tenzin stands up to leave as he left you pulled him aside

Tenzin: is there something the matter Nathan?

Nathan: It's about Korra we both know she's afraid but won't admit it but don't worry I'll make sure she doesn't do anything stupid so you can feel at ease you're doing a good job

Tenzin: exhales thank you, Pema is right maybe I don't have to worry too much as long you there to keep me safe.

Nathan: sweatdropped d-did she mention anything else? 

you asked nervously while T just smiled and placed a hand on your shoulder and mentioned to keep it a secret with he smiled walking away.

The scene fades to a close up of Korra looking sad as she lounges on a railing in the evening. while you drive around, the voice of the council page catches her attention.

Council Page: Avatar Korra, I have something for you.

The council page approaches as Ikki and Jinora are playing Pai Sho (Chinese chess or something) on a table below. Korra hops down to the ground to confront the page.

Korra: It doesn't matter how many gifts Tarrlok sends, I'm not joining his task force!

Council Page: It's not a gift! It's an invitation.

Korra: To what?

Council Page: pulling out an invitation card "Tarrlok is throwing a gala in your honour. All of Republic City's movers and shakers will be there. The councilman humbly requests your attendance."

Korra takes the card and looks at it suspiciously. as you get out of the vehicle exited

Nathan: THE GRAND GALLOPING GALA!

Background music begins to play, as I look at banners of Korra hanging on either side of the entrance. Tenzin and Pema entering, dressed in formal airbending wear as Ikki, Meelo, and Jinora run out ahead of them. and me wearing a dark blue suit as I look at the partygoers clapping at Korra's arrival. Tenzin stays by Korra's side while Pema talks to someone in the crowd.

Korra: I can't believe this is all for me.

Tenzin: I'm not sure what Tarrlok's plotting but keep your guard up. It's not like him just to throw a party for the fun of it.

Nathan: he's right I don't trust this not even oh are those prawns!

Tarrlok approaches the two of them from within the crowd.

Tarrlok: So glad you could make it, Avatar Korra. If you'll excuse us, the city awaits its hero.

Tarrlok gestures for Korra to follow him while Meelo runs past. Tenzin watches them go and turns his head to see Meelo doing something off.

Tenzin: Meelo, no! That is not a toilet! Oh, dear.

after grabbing a plate full of prawns you joined Korra and Tarrlok 

Tarrlok: Korra, it is my pleasure to introduce Republic City's most famous industrialist, Hiroshi Sato.

Korra: Nice to meet you.

Hiroshi: We're all expecting great things from you.

He says with a totally not evil in any way shape or form attitude. 

Korra: meekly turns to you Right. Greatness.

Nathan: you know what's great these shrimp! nom nom

Mako: Hey, Korra!

You notice Korra pouts as Mako, Asami, and Bolin approach. Asami has her arm around Mako's

Hiroshi: This is my daughter, Asami. (aka the badass Batwoman)

Asami: It's lovely to meet you. Mako told me so much about you.

Korra: Really, because he hasn't mentioned you at all. How did you two meet?

Bolin: rushing in next to Korra "Asami crashed into him on her Moped." rushes off-screen

Korra: What? Are you okay?

Mako: I'm fine. More than fine. Mr Sato agreed to sponsor our team. We're back in the tournament.

Nathan: "hello there I'm the guy your forgetting don't worry existence is meaningless now," you said gaining their attention.

Bolin: putting an arm around your shoulder "what we were just getting to you, this is Nathan he's the guy that saved my life he's like a superhero like um freeze man or waits for Mr freeze or frozone n-no wait I got  it Aqua-" 

you shoved a shrimp in his mouth shutting him up and turning to Asami.

Nathan: nice to meet you, would you like some shrimp i recommend it guys it's great. 

you offered the plate Bolin Hummed in agreement and took some so did the others

Asami: it's a pleasure to meet you too.

Korra looks off to the side. Chief Beifong walks by and Tarrlok gestures to her to come over.

Tarrlok: Chief Beifong! I believe you and Avatar Korra have already met.

Chief Beifong: Just because the city's throwing you this big to-do don't think you're something special. You've done absolutely nothing to deserve this.

Beifong leaves and Korra glares after her. Cut to a close up of Korra as she looks down glumly from being reminded of the truth. Korra and Tarrlok walk to the top of a large stairway. several journalists wait for her at the bottom. They all quickly approach and begin asking questions and taking pictures. Tenzin notices and looks worried.

Journalists: Hello! I've got this! One more question, Miss! I think if we could -- Hold up! Hold up!

Tarrlok: If you'd be so kind, they just have a couple of questions.
Korra: But--

Tarrlok moves Korra out in front of him, leaving her to fend for herself against the press smartass

Journalist: Avatar Korra, you witnessed Amon take away people's bending firsthand. How serious a threat does he pose to the innocent citizens of Republic City?

Korra: hesitantly "Ahem. I think he presents a real problem." 

Nathan: 'you shouldn't have said that'

Tarrlok looks away and smiles smugly. totally not evil

Journalist: Then why have you refused to join Tarrlok's task force? As the Avatar, shouldn't you be going after Amon?

Korra: camera flashes in her eyes "Well, I--"

Journalist: Why are you backing away from this fight?

Korra: What?! No, I've never backed away from anything in my life. 

Nathan: 'oh no.' 

Your eyes widened as you realised what's going to happen.

Journalists: You promised to serve this city. Are you going back on that promise now? Do you think Pro-Bending is more important than fighting the revolution? How do you think Avatar Aang would've handled this? Are you afraid of Amon?

Korra: I'm not afraid of anybody! If the city needs me, then, I'll join Tarrlok's task force and help fight Amon.

Tarrlok: walks back to Korra and puts his hand on her shoulder There's your headline, folks. 

Nathan: 'clever girl he planed all this even the SHRIMP!'

The journalists begin taking more photos. Tenzin Has he closes his eyes and tilts his head down sadly. Asami, Bolin, and Mako look at each other worriedly. A camera flash cuts back to Tarrlok smiling smugly with his arm around Korra. Another flash cut to a close up of Korra looking very worried. and another flash to you eating more shrimp.

Bolin: No Korra for practice again?

Mako: Doesn't look like it.

Bolin tosses his discs away and pouts comically, hunching his back. The scene cuts to Tarrlok and Korra at a press conference set indoors addressing a large group of journalists seated in front of them. Tarrlok is at the podium.

Tarrlok: Avatar Korra has bravely answered the call to action. With the two of us leading the charge, Republic City has nothing to fear from Amon and the Equalists.

Journalist: Question for the Avatar! Amon remains at large. Why have you failed to locate him?

Korra: approaching the podium "You wanna know why? Because Amon is hiding in the shadows like a coward!. Amon, I challenge you to a duel. No task force. No chi blockers. Just the two of us tonight at midnight on Avatar Aang Memorial Island. Let's cut to the chase and settle this thing. If you're man enough to face me!!.

All is quiet save for some feedback from the microphone as Korra sets it back down and goes to exit the room. Then the journalists stand and explode with questions, all trying to get Korra's attention. The scene cuts to Mako and Asami riding in a taxi cab through a park at night. Romantic background music is playing.

[insert romantic song]

Asami: I know it sounds weird to say this but I'm really glad I hit you with my Moped

Nathan: 'motorcycle I think. I wish she sped up honestly and hit his face'

Mako: Uh, aw, me too.

Asami: I forgot to ask. Why didn't you accept the new silk scarf I bought for you last week? You didn't like it?

Mako: No, it was nice. But this scarf was my father's and it's all I have left of him. I just feel like it keeps me safe.

Asami: I'm so sorry. I lost my mother when I was very young. 

Mako takes Asami's hand in his. They smile at each other for a moment before Asmi rests her head on his shoulder.

Asami: I feel so safe with you.

Tenzin: Korra, this is madness!

Nathan: Madness! Madness!...thats is accurate.

Korra: Don't try to stop me and don't follow me. I have to face Amon alone.

Tenzin: This is all your doing!.

Tarrlok: I tried to talk her out of it too but she's made up her mind." 

Korra uses waterbending to drive her boat over the water to Memorial Island

Tarlok: We'll be watching the island closely. If anything goes wrong I have a fleet of police airships ready to swoop down.

Nathan: how about no 

Tenzin: do you have a suggestion? anything is better than this

Nathan: yea I'm gonna follow in case anything happens. 

He nods while Tarlok disagrees. You jumped on the water creating an ice surfing board and surfed your way to the island following Korra 'I hope my gut feeling is wrong and nothing bad happens'

you made it to the island and looked up at the temple to see fire shot out of it. you panicked and ran up the stairs as quickly as possible thinking of the worst I have to get there before it's too late.

Korra's Pov

I light up the passage with my fire keeping the chi blockers at bay. my arms were caught by two bolas and I struggle to break free as two chi blockers leap at me. I roll and kick at them and send another blast of fire, knocking them away with another kick that earthbends the floor up beneath them. 

The passage darkens making it harder for me to see two chi blockers come up behind me and strike the pressure points in my back, paralyzing me, I fall everything going to black.

Korra: 'I shouldn't have done this someone help.'

You make it to the top to see Korra with her eyes open filled with fear on the floor surrounded by 12 chi blockers without thinking I water whip three in front of me unsuspecting and knock them out as they collide with the pillars. nine of the chi blockers run towards you while three lift up Korra lying on the ground, illuminated by a lantern and surrounded by a circle of chi blockers. She pants softly as she regains consciousness, then looks up and gasps. Amon steps out from the darkness.

Once you noticed Korra down something inside you snapped.

Nathan: STAY AWAY FROM HER!

You roared as two chi blocker came from your left and right you tried to sweep their legs but they jumped in the air while twisting your body you grabbed the right one in the air and swung him at the one on the left as they collided and crashed into the ground you froze them both together and bolted towards the remaining seven.

one came running straight at you trying to punch you straight moving your left hand to block it you noticed a second chi blocker coming from the shadows to your right aiming for a pressure point at your shoulder while blocking the first you changed the back to a fist punching him in the face while the other hit you pressure points you tensed your muscles so it wouldn't be as effective and sweeper his legs as he fell you stomped his face and the cracking of his lenses could be heard echoing the area.

The remaining five all decided to charge so you took out all the water from your water skin creating four water tentacles you charged the chi blockers three of them jumped in the air you caught them with your water tentacles and slammed them into the ground and froze them in place the other two chi blockers, however, got up close and pinned you down to the ground making you control of your bending you struggled to escape but they held you down. there was nothing you can do but watch.

you couldn't hear what they were saying but you could tell Korra is scared speechless, and as Amon reaches a hand out towards her. 

you couldn't watch anymore 

Nathan: LET HER GOOO!

You forced all the strength you had to escape but failed instead. 

As you look at Amon reach for Korra, Amon instead grasps her by the chin, forcing her to look up at him then at you pinned on the ground. you tried to make sense of what he said but only heard the last words "Then you'll get your duel and I will destroy you."

Amon stands up from kneeling and strikes a pressure point in Korra's shoulder to knock her out. she looks up at Amon her eyes then land on you struggling to break free her vision blurring before falling to the floor. as she falls into the subconscious her minds flash with images First Sokka, then Toph with metal bending police, then Aang, then a close up of Yakone's eyes, then Aang riding an air scooter, looking angry and ready for battle. and does the same to you the last thing you saw was Korra before blacking out.

you wake up soon after in a panic seeing Korra on the floor you ran over to her and sit her up. you heard footsteps to see Tenzin walking toward you with a lantern.

Korra: Aang?

Tenzin: Korra! Korra, are you alright? What happened? Was Amon here

Korra: Ye-yeah. He ambushed me.

Nathan: I'm sorry i was late

Tenzin: Did he, did he take your bending away?

Korra creates a small flame in her hand before clasping and extinguishing it.

Korra: No. I'm okay.

Tenzin: Oh, thank goodness.

you sigh in relief holding her close in for a hug. Korra's eyes quiver before she breaks down and cries, tears streaming down her cheeks. She leans into you burying her head into your chest and hugging you close you rub her back gently trying to even out her breathing

Korra: I was so terrified! I felt so helpless.

Tenzin: It's alright. The nightmare is over.

Korra: sob You were right. I've been scared this whole time. I've never felt like this before and I don't know what to do.

Tenzin: Admitting your fears is the first, and most difficult, step in overcoming them.

Nathan: that's right Korra, you're not alone I- were her to help you.
