'you must be new'

"Hi, I'm Lizzie and this my twin Josie!"

Georgie smiled softly at the over enthusiastic energy from the set of twins, studying them closely as she stood in front of them. Caroline and Alaric had already told her they were their twins - clearly fraternal - who happened to be witches. While the adults remained in Alaric's office discussing something that they clearly didn't want the girls hearing, the twins had volunteered to show her around.

"I'm Georgie Lockwood," she told them, a soft smile on her face as she looked between the blonde and the dark haired girl. Josie smiled back warmly, while Lizzie's eyes flashed  with a realisation as she recognised the surname.

"Like... Tyler Lockwood?" She asked in disbelief, not knowing their parents late friend had any family left. They all had assumed the Lockwood line had died off with Tyler in 2017.

"Yeah he was my dad," Georgie said sombrely. She had only spent three years with her dad and meeting people who clearly had got the chance to know him more than she ever was had slightly dampened her mood, and while she knew that wasn't Lizzie and Josie's parents fault, it still hurt to see others living the life she wished she had.

Noticing the sudden downfall on her face, Josie elbowed Lizzie's side and mouthed for the girl to change the subject quickly. For all they knew, she was a newly transitioned wolf and the majority of wolves they knew had a bad temper even when unable to shift due to the lack of full moon. The last thing the twins wanted to do was provoke her anger accidentally. Thankfully, there was a full moon the night before and fortunately wouldn't be one for almost a month.

"So everyone is pretty much friends here," Josie informed her as she linked her arm with Georgie as Lizzie did the same with her other arm. Georgie wasn't really sure how to react to the sudden display of friendship since she'd never really had any friends of her own but it felt nice. "The wolves are a little bit cliquey, so we probably won't get to spend tons of time with you once you join the pack."

"What if I don't want to join it?" Georgie asked, causing Josie and Lizzie to shoot each other surprised glances as they both paused in their steps to look at her. Lizzie shook her head slightly, flicking some of her long blonde hair over her shoulder as she scoffed slightly.

"It's in your nature, you'll feel the pull to join soon enough," she told her, and Georgie was sure she detected a hint of sadness in the blonde's voice at her thinking of their new friend hanging out with only the wolves. Her and Josie didn't have many werewolf friends since they were all into their pack mentality, and Hope wasn't exactly their best friend either. Her trainings with their dad had put a thick wedge between the possibility of any friendship.

Georgie shrugged in acceptance, knowing that her hybrid nature meant she probably wouldn't want to join the pack. The tiny part of her vampire side that currently lay dominant was very adamant she didn't need a wolf pack to survive high school, besides she didn't want to lead a pack and there was no way in hell she would ever submit to another wolf.

"That's Kaleb and MG," Josie continued, pointing over to where two boys were flipping through books at an inhumane speed. Hearing their names, they looked up and gave a small wave before Josie and Lizzie continued to move her through the Salvatore boarding house. "They're vampires."

Just as they turned the corner, Georgie felt her body slam into someone else causing the young hybrid to stumble backwards and trip over. Josie instantly dropped to her knees, grabbing Georgie's arm lightly and helping her back to her feet while Lizzie glared daggers at the girl that had collided with Georgie.

Georgie dusted herself off before looking at the girl, surprised to find her wearing a warm smirk and looking the girl up and down. Josie seemed sense beside Georgie, while Lizzie seemed to be letting off large chemosignals of anger. The raven haired girl looked between the twins and the girl in confusion before the girl finally extended a hand upon realising the twins had no plan of introducing her.

"You must be new, I'm Penelope Park."

Georgie extended her hand much to the disgust of Josie and Lizzie, flinching slightly as she felt a warm envelope her body as their hands connected. Her mouth dropped open slightly as she found herself staring at Penelope, her words caught in her throat. Josie scoffed, rolling her eyes as Lizzie reached over and pulled their hands apart resulting in Georgie being shaken out of her brief moment of admiration.

"Wow nice one Penelope," Lizzie spat before gripping on to Georgie's arm and side stepping the girl who was still smirking at the newest addition to their school. The blonde dragged Georgie passed her, Josie following after sending one final glare to Penelope.

"What the hell was that?" Georgie asked in confusion, looking at her hand which suddenly felt back to normal and no longer warm.

"A simple admiration spell," Josie told her, a scowl still present on her face from the run in with her ex. "That was Penelope Park, she's a witch."

"And Josie's ex," Lizzie told Georgie, causing the girl to nod as she took the information in. "We refer to her as she who shall not be named."

After taking her around the rest of the grounds, the twins and Georgie finally arrived at one of the boarding school dorms. Unlike other doors that were decorated with little designs and patterns surrounding the name of the occupier, this one simply had a name scrawled across the blackboard that hung on the door with no decoration.

"Hope will be your roommate," Lizzie said, Georgie picking up on the slightly venomous tone she used when talking about the other girl. "She's a tribrid, so she's part werewolf, vampire and witch. She's also unbearable so I wish you luck."

Just as Lizzie said that, the door swung open and Georgie found the girl from earlier standing there with a fake smile on her face as she shot a grimace to Lizzie.

"She also has ears and heard that," Hope muttered before opening the door for Georgie to step in. Lizzie said goodbye to Georgie as she spun on her heel and began to strut away from the three that stood in the doorway. Josie held back for a second, giving Georgie one last warm smile which the girl returned before she turned and hurried off after her sister.

Georgie stepped into the room, allowing Hope to close the door behind her. Her backpack had been brought up to the room, and the shopping bags that surrounded her bed told her that Caroline had upheld her promise of filling her wardrobe since she hadn't brought many clothes with her. She faintly registered Hope throwing herself on to her own bed on her side of the room, watching her carefully as she stood in the middle of her side in confusion.

"So, I hear you're Tyler Lockwood's daughter?" Hope asked, knowing her own parents had quite a turbulent history with the man. She wasn't entirely sure if Georgie was aware of it all, but she really hoped it wouldn't make things awkward between them. The girl nodded as she carefully sat on the bed, confused as to why everyone here seemed so intent on helping her when she had just murdered a man.

Hope smiled at her, clearly seeing right through her calm demeanour and telling that the girl felt like she was in over her head. She wasn't entirely sure why she felt like her and the girl had been destined to meet, but she just assumed it was just because of their parent history that it felt surreal.

"I'm just going to get this out of the way," Hope admitted, knowing it was maybe wise to tell her about her parents first. "My dad and mom both knew your dad."

Georgie smiles softly, looking up at Hope as she let out a small chuckle.

"That's seeming to be a frequent occurrence here it seems," Georgie admitted as she thought about how amazed Caroline and Alaric had been at the information that their old friend had a child without their knowledge.

"Your dad and my mom were friends, they ran in the same packs for a short time when they were younger," Hope told her, aware of the history between Hayley and Tyler. "My dad and your dad weren't exactly friends. I don't know if you know the name Mikaelson..."

Georgie's eyebrows shot up as she looked at the girl in front of her. She now knew exactly who her father was, and she felt overwhelmed with emotions as she let the name fall from her own lips.

"Klaus."

Hope's eyes widened slightly as she realised that Georgie knew fine well who the man was, and from the sudden startled look in her eyes she also knew exactly what he had done to her father. Unknown to them both, he had a much stronger connection to Georgie than they would ever have imagined.

"He turned my dad into a hybrid," Georgie mused, knowing that while he wasn't when she knew him, her father had once also been a vampire-werewolf hybrid. She guessed it really did run in her genes.

"I'm sorry," Hope said, guilt flooding her face as she looked at the shocked look on Georgie's face. The girl on the opposite bed furrowed her eyebrows as she looked at the Mikaelson, confused as to why she was apologising.

"You don't need to apologise, we aren't our parents."

They fell into a comfortable silence after that, both of them glad that they weren't harbouring any bad feelings for each other simply based on who their parents were. Georgie stood up as she looked at all of the bags surrounding her, no idea where to start. It seemed as if Caroline had bought her every type of fashion sense available so that she would hopefully be able to find her own style amongst the clothes.

"Need a hand?" Hope finally asked, breaking their silence. She didn't want to make friends - everyone she had ever loved had died - but she knew that if they were going to be living together for the rest of her school career she might as well try to be nice. Hope was aware the girl was maybe a year or so younger than her but she didn't need to imagine the pain she was going through having lost her parents and extended family.

Georgie smiled at the tribrid, nodding as she accepted her offer. The two girls worked quickly, taking things out of bags and folding or hanging them up in the space in the wardrobe.

And as the hybrid worked with the closest species she'd ever met to herself, she saw a glimpse of herself finally finding a permanent family.

____

"As you can probably tell, we're about to break up for the summer," Alaric told her as her found herself back in his office a day later. Hope had already told her that classes would be ending in the next few days, hence why she hadn't been given a schedule as there wasn't much point. Alaric had already said that she seemed to be slightly ahead of the basic curriculum since Tyers had been teaching her at a slightly faster pace than they did here. He had promised her however that she would be enrolled on to some extra classes compared to her home school, including the history of werewolves and an anger management class that all werewolves took for the first semester of their first year here.

She knew she could trust these people, but she just couldn't bring herself to inform them about what she actually was. Sure, Hope was a tribrid and from what she had seen there wasn't any issue about that but she just didn't want to tell them yet. It seemed like she could trust them, but her dad had once trusted the principal and his friends and had ended up dead.

"I know you don't have anywhere else to go, so you're more than welcome to stay here," Alaric continued, not having realised the girl was lost in her thoughts. She looked back up at him, not having noticed she was subconsciously twirling the wolf charm on her bracelet her father had given her. He had it enchanted by a witch when she was younger so that if she ever did trigger her curse it wouldn't break. "A few of our students stay here over the summer. Some stay for the entire summer like my daughters, Lizzie and Josie, will be doing, while others like your roommate Hope come and go between family and here."

"I thought Hope's parents were dead?" Georgie finally spoke, not sure what other family Hope had left. She had thought that the Mikaelson's were long gone by now.

"They are, but her aunt Freya likes to have her over for a few weeks every summer. It's the only time she gets to just relax and not focus on her training."

Georgie nodded, watching as Alaric moved around his desk as he clearly tried to find something. She knew that her wolf was watching more intently than she was, having been able to sense the nervousness coming off of the man before her. He was just a human in a school of supernaturals so it was no surprise to Georgie that he would be nervous but she didn't expect him to sudden get more nervous in that moment.

"I wanted you to have this," Alaric told her as he reached out and passed a photograph to her. She took it carefully, immediately noticing some familiar faces in the photo from the one she had seen yesterday. "Deputy Sheriff Matt Donovan was your father's best friend, he found it and thought you would maybe have liked it."

Georgie nodded in appreciation before Alaric turned back to her with a smile.

"I promise, this is going to be one great summer!"
