LUCY CARLYLE

Choosing a Lucy Carlyle was by far one of the toughest things this caster came across (next to George, of course!). And that can be attributed to the various facets of our caustic, wilful, deadpanning heroine that makes her the imperfect goddess that she is.

Pit her in a battle against all the female badasses of the YA universe, and I bet the (mute) skull in my head that she would make even the most stiletto-stabbing of them to weep tears of blood and grovel on the ground with a 'CAUSE OF DEATH - CARLYLE SASS' branded on their foreheads with burning ectoplasm.

No wonder that Lockwood dude fell for her.

With all these constraints in mind, it was tough to choose a Lucy who can compare George and Kipps to grocery items, picture Holly drowning in an icey hole in the Arctic, engage in verbal and near physical battles with the undead, score a touchdown on the Rotwell CEO's butt and jump off buildings, windows, balconies and a goddamn trapeze all the while falling for the patented Lockwood grin.

      * shakes fist at Stroud's face for not conclusively setting sail the armada of Locklyle *

Coming back,

Most of the actresses I had on my 'Who is Lucy?' cheat sheet were:

a) Wayyyy beyond their twenties. (Felicity Jones, Milla Jovovich, Anne Hathaway...)

b) Were awesome, but somehow can't essay the role of teenager who considers fashion advice from a skull. ( Emma Watson, Maisie Williams, Anna Popplewell...)

c) Couldn't be DA LUCY CARLYLE, Queen of Kickbutt, Lady of ironic wit and deadpan comments, and most of all, the girl who made us look at the dark in a different way.

  And thus, JOEY KING.

Most of us knew her from Ramona and Beezus, or that little Talia Al-Ghul from Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, and as Elle Evans from the Kissing Booth. But what sets her apart from the rest would be her eerily creepy, but utterly mind-blowing acting skills in 'The Act.'

And I'm sure she could be the Lucy Carlyle of our dreams.

So tell me what you think, and do let me know of your dreamcast.

Peace out!
