Personality: 

 Alyn is what they may call, a little rough around the edges. By nature, he can be quite sarcastic, a bit cynical, and definitely not gullible to simple explanations that just seem outright fishy. It's not a bad quality to have as a military man with a special expertise for interrogation of enemies, and prisoners of war. He sort of has a 'no nonsense' approach to speaking with others, being quick to jump past the formalities and getting right down to the nitty -gritty. He takes his job rather seriously, as it is not only his bread and butter, but also his family way of life - the only life he's ever known. Sure, his silver tongue has gotten him into some trouble from time to time as social gatherings where he was expected to act properly, but anything that his parents might have perceived as bad behavior was nowhere near anything major.

A lot of first encounters leave him looking like something of an asshole. As previously mentioned, he just doesn't partake in bullshit and won't act fake just to gain your good graces. Though, it also isn't uncommon that upon further inspection, he's not the crass man he'd first been characterized as, but more of an honest man who could really give you a laugh, given the right opportunity. His heart is in the right place - he had an acute sense of altruism, doing what's right despite the consequence, and then shying away from the credit afterwards with that same standoffish "life is not gumdrops and rainbows" attitude....but maybe that's just his way of deflecting. He conveys a lot of what he's thinking through his eyes, so watching those will always give you a hint into his mind.

All in all, Alyn is someone you can put your trust into, both in action and words. He's not a gossiper, but he will tell you straight to your face if your overreacting or unjustified. He had a really refreshing way of just making you feel like a person. Given the right circumstance, he can certainly be flirtatious, but as usual, it will come in form of his teasing humor.

Strengths: Alyn is a proficient user of Judo, Jiu - Jitsu , and enjoyed kick boxing lessons as a young man. He likely qualifies as a ''mixed martial artist", and fighting definitely peaks his interest. There's something about facing an opponent that gives him a rush of adrenaline, whether its consented or a brawl with an enemy. He likes his job as a military interrogator, feeling proud of himself when he can make someone spill the beans, even if sometimes needs to use dark tactics. He's a truthful person, feeling no use for embellishing or flat out lying, and won't take it either. He has a lot of endurance. He's pretty handy when it comes to fixing things, and has picked up a little bit of medical knowledge along the way in his line of work. He's genuine, can be quite caring, and altruistic. His sense of humor is not for everyone, but for those who like a dose of sarcasm, he can be quite funny.

Weaknesses: Alyn can definitely come off as impersonal. He only gives respect to who and what seems real and worthy of respect, and that can be hard for those who disagree. This means that he won't be understanding of every plight you have, and while he won't share it with everyone, he may criticize it. His calmed nature may make him seem low energy, though that's not entirely truthful. He has a hard time keeping his facial expressions in check, giving way to his feelings, which sometimes he doesn't intend to do some brashly. He can have a temper when it comes to things he /does/ believe in, and sometimes it will get the best of him...though he acknowledges his body as a weapon. He has a competitive streak that sometimes takes over.

Background:

Alyn grew up as a military child, moving all over the country and hardly staying in one place based on where his father would be stationed. It was hard for him to make and keep friends, unless it was his twin brother, Merrick, but it wasn't always easy to keep him as a friend, either. In the question of 'nature versus nurture', nature definitely took its toll over these two; twin boys of identical looks and identical lives, though Alyn grew up fairly well rounded, following in the family footsteps, and Merrick was always troubled. Based on all of the things that Alyn had to go through on account of his brother, including almost watching him die from alcohol poisoning, beating the piss out of one another over minuscule, yet building things, and witnessing the stress he'd put onto their parents without seemingly a care in the world. The real tragic part of this story, though? Alyn and Merrick shared a womb, and in turn, a special bond that Alyn can't seem to shake. He yearns for a relationship with his brother whom he cares for despite it all, but every time he gets close, things get difficult. It's easier to put on a brave face and pretend he doesn't care, but in reality, it tortures him that the good times don't last forever. For who could understand you better than your own twin?

Other than things having to do with Merrick, it should be noted that Alyn's parents also had given birth to a baby girl, Abigail, but she had passed away from a rare disease within a few years of her life. Alyn was 8 at the time, and remembers how to loss seemed to put a rift between his mother and father that never perfectly healed. His father is still to this day a military commander, and his mother, a sweet house wife who does the cooking, cleaning, and raised her sons to best of her ability. She wasn't a prisoner by any means - she enjoyed having book clubs at the house with her friends, and spending time with Alyn and Merrick, while Alyn's father was always a very stoic man with little emotion to share, even towards his kids. his sense of love came in a different way, and that was providing them with opportunities to thrive, which only one boy took advantage of. He has a variety of uncles, aunts, and cousins who have always been close to him; his grandparents, too, in a much more loving way than his father.
