7 - I Love Her Too

- Natsu -

Happy looked at me weirdly at my response though I don't blame him. Sometimes I still can't believe the shitty situation I'm in. I closed the door behind me and began walking back to the guild to get my wounds cleaned and bandaged again, "Are you sure you can walk back Natsu? You don't have to push yourself."

"I'm fine Happy. Let's just get back." but I hated to admit the fact that I was in excruciating pain, each step I took made me wanna fall to my knees. Though if I did, I would only get questioned even further on how I got these injuries. Just thinking about what happened — it pisses me off.

"Natsu ...."

"What is it Happy?"

"When are you and Lucy planning on telling Luna the truth?"

I glanced up at my best friend and shook my head with a sigh, "I've explained this to you millions of times. It's up to Lucy, she's ..... the parent ...." I began to trail off, realizing what I just said. Happy gave me a certain look but I just brushed him off with an eye roll, "Just leave this alone."

- Lucy -

Quietly, I closed the door behind me and looked up at him. There was such an awkward and intense aura in the air that it was almost suffocating. His sharp eyes glared down at me and for the first time ever, he looked at me with hatred. It was saddening but, it made me even more mad at the same time.

I attempted to be as calm as possible, trying not to go over the top with him. "What do you want Sting?" He scoffed and reached for the doorknob, "I wanna see my daughter." but I blocked the door and shook my head at him. "You don't get to do that."

"Do what? You should've waited for me at the guild and not make me run around town looking for you both."

"You should've answered all those times we called and not make us send someone to go get you."

Sting heaved out a sigh and pounded on the door calling out for Luna up until I shushed him. "I want you to leave. I don't want you here and neither does Luna."

"What? You don't get to make that decision."

"And you do? You don't have any association with my daughter as of right now."

"Your daughter? I raised her just as much as you did. Do you hear how selfish you sound right now? Get out of the way and let me see Luna." he tried to brush me aside but I kept my ground, only pissing him off even more. But I didn't care, I meant what I said.

"You haven't visited her for months Sting! And now you wanna show up out of the blue?"

"I wonder why I haven't been coming around ..... or do I need to call Natsu to refresh your memory?"

I looked at him in shock, I didn't think he'd say something like that. So I stared up at him, my eyes getting glossy with tears as I shouted, "You can't come out of nowhere thinking everything will be back to normal! That Luna will just run into your arms and everything is fine. You can't act like the last several months of us ignoring and arguing with each other didn't happen! That I was alone for months beside Luna and hoping that a miracle would happen!" I was letting my emotions run wild, I could see all the guilt and sorrow build up in his eyes as I shouted. But they were all quickly washed away with a dirty look, "But you weren't alone. You had Natsu right by your side, right?"

I shook my head in disgust, tears dripping down my cheeks, "I hate you ...."

The door creaked open, making both Sting and I shoot our attention behind me. We were soon met by two big chocolate eyes staring up at us. Though as soon as she seen me, she began to whine and tug on the hem of my shirt for answers, "Why are you crying? Who made you cry mama!"

"Luna, go back inside for me okay? Mamas fine." I smiled, insisting that she go back but she wouldn't listen.

"Luna ....." She peered around me and looked up at Sting in confusion. "You're —" although she was cut off as Sting snatched her off the ground and into his arms, grasping her in a tight hug.

Even though the sight of him boils my blood, I couldn't help but almost grin. It was something I hadn't seen for years, the two of them together and his smile.

- Sting -

I couldn't believe it, it felt so surreal that I was scared to even let her go. "I missed you too much ......." I muttered into her shoulder, hugging her a bit tighter.

After all these years, after everything we've been through, I feel like I can breathe again. All that weight was suddenly lifted off of my shoulders. This is what I missed, I missed how free and happy she made me. Nothing could beat this moment.

"Dad?" She mumbled, moving back and looking at me. I chuckled lightheartedly and brushed some of her hair out of her face before nodding, "You remember ...."

We always had an odd love - hate relationship as she grew. But I knew she had the biggest heart anyone could possibly have, that's something I'm looking forward to see again. Even her eyes, they were always filled with so much life that it was almost inspiring. But soon enough, everything vanished. My heart clenched with pain as it happened.

She cried and pushed me away, nearly screaming in my face. I put her down and watched sadly as she ran back into Lucy's arms, crying into the crook of her neck.

Everything went so wrong, so fast. I can't take it.

"Luna...? Luna? I'm sorry. Did I do something?" I uttered, reaching out towards her only to get a whimper in response.

Lucy looked at me, mumbling, "We'll talk later ...." before closing the door behind her.

- Lucy -

Juvia nodded in understanding before thinking quietly to herself. It's been hours since Sting was last here and I still can't believe the things he said. It just doesn't sound like him. He's never hated me so much.

I gazed out the window and up at the night sky, it was a cloudy and cold night. But I closed my eyes and took a couple deep breaths, "I'm sorry if I'm bothering you. It's past midnight and I'm here blabbing about my stupid problems."  Though Juvia laughed and curled up in her chair with fluffy blankets and pillows. "I should actually be thanking you. Ever since Gray ..... I've been a bit lonely. Seeing your face light up around Luna makes me feel better."

I slowly grinned at her and took a seat beside my sleeping daughter, "Thank you Juvia."

——————————

"Bye bye Aunt Juvia!" Luna waved happily as she skipped down the hallway and out the corridor. I thanked her one last time before disappearing out of the building and into the cool morning air. "So what are we doing today mama! Can we go get food! Chicken! Steak!"

I chuckled and ruffled her hair a bit, "Sorry hon but we're gonna go and read at the guild." Her face lit up with excitement as she cheered and hollered all the way back, I remember she used to love when I read to her. I'm still surprised that she likes to read or that she wants to even have a book in her hand.

As we walked through the guild doors, everyone greeted us and hugged Luna to death even pinching her cheeks. I motioned her to follow me as she cried about her cheeks burning, "Hey Mira!" I smiled.

"Hi Lucy andddd — Luna!! Look at you! What a cutie!" Mirajane squealed and started pinching my daughters cheeks once more making her cry in pain. But I just giggled and patted Mira on the shoulder, "Sorry but I'm gonna be reading with Luna today."

"Ah! Good idea. See you later pumpkin!" Mirajane through kisses to Luna as we began to walk away and disappear into the library. When we got inside, I was already reminded about my past experiences and memories in here with everyone. I couldn't help but laugh, catching my daughters attention. "What's so funny?"

"Oh nothing. Come let's sit."

We sat down on the wooden table in the center of the room, I grabbed a book off the table and began skimming through it. "I wanna know the joke too." Luna frowned and picked up a book as well, opening the cover and flipping through the pages, "Hey what the heck?"

"What is it?" I asked.

"Where's all the pictures? What kind of book is this?"

I snorted and began laughing at that stupid comment she said. "You have to read the words, not every book has pictures." I pointed out. But she scrunched her nose in disgust and slammed the book closed, leaning back in her chair. "How come we come here all the time? Do you live here or something?"

"Well Luna, do you remember what a guild is? And what kind of people are apart of a guild?" But she shook her head and insisted that I continued, "Well it's a home. I don't live here but I feel like I'm with a big family. People join guilds when they have magic."

Instantly, she shot up in her seat and smiled, "Magic!? I want magic!"

"Well, you have magic. So does mama."

"Uwahhhhh, so cool!! I wanna use magic! Can you pull a quarter out from my ear?"

Once again, I laughed at my daughters stupidity and shook my head vigorously, "We're not magicians sweetheart. We use magic, mama is a celestial mage. I have friends that live in the stars."

Her eyes sparkled with enticement as she leaned forward in her seat, "You're so cool mama! What kind of magic do I have? Is it as cool as yours!"

I nodded and looked back down at my book, skimming through the pages a bit more, "Can I try my magic right now? I'm sure —" but I looked at her and sternly shook my head, "Absolutely not."

"What? Why?"

"Cause I said so. Do not use your magic, do you understand?" I asked, but her gaze began to wander off as she pouted at me. "Luna. Do you understand?" I said once more, making sure she says something back this time. She nodded and laid her head down on the table, "I'm bored mama ..."

"You didn't even bother to read that book." I pointed out, opening the flaps to show her how interesting it is. She looked down at the book and rubbed her eyes, "Woahhh. I didn't know you had a tattoo!"

"What?"

She pointed at my hand with a wide grin, "Is it a tiger?"

"This is called a guild stamp. You get it when you join a guild. It's like a badge."

"Wow! So everyone here has one like that? Even Aunt Mira and Aunt Juvia?" I shook my head sadly and brushed her hair out of her face, "You wanna know a little story about your mom?"

She nodded vigorously, waiting for me to continue, "A long time ago, before you were born. Mama was part of this guild, Fairy Tail. I was friends with Aunt Mirajane and Aunt Juvia and everyone else here. But then I decided to leave and join another guild. Then you were born and you made friends with the people there."

Luna looked at me with a frown, "Why did you leave Fairy Tail? Didn't you miss all your friends?"

"Of course I missed them. Sometimes .... mama wishes she never left them. But things were different back then."

"Mama ..." she trailed off a bit, "who is Natsu?"

I gave her a weird look before shrugging, "Why do you ask?"

"He's the man that you were with the other day right? Was he your best friend?"

I cocked my head to the side and wondered how my daughter is so smart, but I'm also scared that she'll start to piece things together if I start to open up too much. "Yeah .... he was my best friend for a long time. He still is."

She stayed quiet for a bit which made me nervous for some reason, though I nearly screamed when I heard the door slam close. "Whoops, sorry." the footsteps approached us, revealing his wide smile, "Natsu?" Speak of the devil.

"Yo Lucy. Luna."

"Hi! We were just talking about you!" Luna waved with a huge smile making my face flush with embarrassment, "Luna!" I scolded. But Natsu just chuckled and took a seat beside her, "It's all good. What are you guys up to?"

"My mom wanted me to read ......"

Natsu looked at the book and frowned, "What the hell? But there's no pictures."

"That's what I said!"

I laid my head in the palm of my hand and rolled my eyes, "Luna did you know that if you don't read, your head gets smaller. It could get as tiny as a little grape." Instantly, she freaked out and began flipping through the pages of all the books on the table.

"You're evil." Natsu muttered making me chuckle. "How are you feeling? Still in pain?"

"Oh yeah, it's pretty bad. But I feel better now that I'm here ...." He smiled, making me shift my gaze else where, but I couldn't help feel butterflies in my stomach. "Sting came to see me yesterday."

"How'd that go?"

"Horrible."

"Did he say anything to you? I may be crippled but I can still kick ass."

Luna gasped loudly, pointing and shouting at Natsu. "SWEAR JAR!"

"Swear jar? Where did you learn that from?" I asked. She pointed down in front of her, "This book. It's about a girl who collects money from people who swears and then puts it in her swear jar."

I laughed and nudged Natsu, "You heard the girl. Swear jar." But he scrunched his eyebrows together and shook his head, "No way. I'm broke, I have no money."

"Fine, I'll let it go just this one time. Only because mama likes you so much."

I scolded my daughter once more because of her honest personality, "Don't be saying that kind of stuff so fondly!"

Though Natsu chuckled and ruffled Luna's hair, "Don't worry kid. I love your mom just as much."
